  1. I agree! I have already flagged up this very topic before that my own gradient swatches was not available globally throughout the app and should be. This has always seemed a bad omission in the app development. Hope they get this sorted soon.
  2. Yeah that's as I thought but is it something that can be put on the dev's radar for future inclusion? It really is a pain in the butt having to create several layers to get a similar effect. For myself as a creative, AP is still full of holes but I'm really hoping these sort of omission's will be addressed in the near future. Don't get me wrong, I have supported AD/AP since launch and will continue to do so even though I still use Photoshop substantially because there are a lot of creative effects I simply cannot create with AP. I hope that it's not too long before AP catches up with PS so that I can move fully over. I remember when Indesign crashed onto the scene, it was a bit behind Quarkexpress to start with but only took a short while to catch up and equal it's functionality. I did the same then and supported Indesign during its birth even though I was A Quarkexpress user as I recognised it's potential future as a major player. I'm hoping AP/AD will do the same and close the gap more quickly. I am aware you have staff level problems and hope you resolve this soon. Regards
  3. Hi. Not sure if this topic has been raised before but in Photoshop you can apply a multi directional gradient (black or otherwise) which I quite often use but in AP this is not possible. In order to apply a multi directional gradient I have to create a separate layer for each direction which is really, REALLY! Annoying. Is the team aware of this as from a creative compositing point of view this is a big minus. It could be possible I'm missing something here but if I'm right then could this drawback be rectified and considered for inclusion in 1.6 or soon after. The gradient window does not appear to hold last used either which means resetting it every time, a real operational irritation for me. I'm trying to adopt AP but I'm finding a number of operational drawbacks which keeps me having to go back to Photoshop. It's been a while now since 1.6 beta was released with no further releases, I'm hoping there is going to be some significant advances when it finally gets released. Would like to have positive feedback on this topic please.@
  4. Hi I have been in touch with Flaming Pear because the plugin "Flood 2" is recognised by Affinity but won't work properly and this is Flaming Pear's response as follows: Sorry about the late response. We've looked into the problem, and it turns out that Affinity Photo often doesn't correctly describe the format of the image data to plug-ins. So plug-ins either produce garbled results or don't run at all. We've contacted Serif, who make Affinity, about this. We're kind of blocked until they fix the problem. Can I have your comments please?
  5. This subject has been raised before but there doesn't appear to have been a clear response from the team. Why can you not get access to the gradients you have saved in the main colour palette from elsewhere such as the FX panel (gradient overlay) etc. This must be an oversight surely? Is this going to be rectified?
  6. I'm posting this just to update on where I feel AP is for me using it on a fairly regular basis and to give feedback to the team . As a creative designer, my work is mostly concentrated on image manipilation, page layout and creative topography. Although mostly I can achieve AP what I set out to do, there are some creative drawbacks at the moment because of some limitations within the FX structure. Also I find the lack of not being able to " lock transparency " a bit of an issue. I have Photoshop CS6 so I don't need to subscribe to Adobe to fall back on Photoshop to get round things for now. However, I have listed below some issues which have cropped up for me which I would hope will be addressed sooner rather than later although I am aware that you (Affinity) are under pressure from lack of development staff. 1) FX panel a) No Satin effect b) No Pattern overlay c) No Contour or texture within Bevel and Emboss Serous lack of profiles, no way to import or save own profiles d) Effects generally seem a bit on the light side in comparison the Photoshop I have also discovered that you cannot seem to access your own gradients that you have created within the main colour panel from anywhere else in the program i.e within FX etc, not sure why this is, is it an oversight maybe? I also find it a drawback that I cannot import anything that has a pattern as the program still does not have this facility. I do have many type effects that I could copy and paste from Photoshop but because the AP program cannot yet handle patterns I can only get the type to import with some effects but without the pattern which makes it a no no for now. So on this point I will have to continue rasterising the type effects, if I need them in Photoshop in order to bring it into my AP design but then it means I don't have any further control over the typeface within AP. Overall I have found the program quite useful in my daily tasks but as I have said in my post title, not quite there yet. Keep up the good work though everyone.
  7. I know exactly what you mean as I have the same annoying problem. I have a feeling it's an oversight within the program. You should be able to get access to all your gradients within your program palette via the FX gradient overlay box but it seems that there is no way to currently do this. Unless I'm missing something this needs addressing before update 1.6 is released. If I have missed something here and somebody out there can solve the problem, I would appreciate a response.
  8. Yes I did but your post says version 6 not 6.007 which was issued today specifically aimed at support for Affinity Photo generally not just for windows. I posted this not just for you but as a general post for anyone reading this issue that may also be having problems on mac. Sorry you appear to have got the hump! Not a big deal really is it, life goes on.
  9. Hi just thought you might like to know if you don't already, Filter-forge has just issued an update today (1March) which fixes some bugs but also now includes support for Filter forge. Good news all round yet another developer on board.
  10. Can I just say with regard to the pricing issue, I would have happily paid £90/100 each for both Designer and Photo as The software is well worth it for such professional software. I'm not quite sure where some peoples heads are as professional software for under £50 is not only cheap, it's ridiculously cheap!! I for one won't grumble if the price increases 25/30 percent. I have had my moments with the software but the more I'm using them the more I realise how professionally good they are.
  11. Just made a post on this subject. On1 told me yesterday that On1 Photo Raw 2017 will be released spring and will be compatible with Affinity Photo.
  12. Just a little update in case you all may not know. I have recently been in touch with On1 who tell me their software On1 photo Raw 2017 will be compatible with Affinity Photo when released sometime in the spring. However, for those who have On1 10 like me, sadly this will not be compatible so if you want On1 to work within Affinity Photo you will have to upgrade. Still it's good to know developers are listening and starting to make their software compatible with Affinity Photo.
  13. I don't know if this suggestion will be to...basic for you but try looking at "Everweb". It's a drag and drop app but is actually very comprehensive in its application and in my opinion a very capable piece of software and developing all the time.
  14. Hmm! That's interesting. Not that I think it should make a difference but are you using windows or Mac version?
  15. Just mentioned this again about a shape builder tool in another post but the team say they are concentrating on getting the basic tools in place first but what I don't think they are taking fully on board is the fact that for many professional designers, THIS IS A BASIC TOOL!! and is very important in artwork creativity and speeding up your workflow. I just wish someone in the R&D team would recognize this.
  16. Just found what I think is a bug, I had not noticed it before. Just taking a simple two ring and putting one part of the ring inside the other like the Olympic rings does not show right using the divide function. In illustrator, if you use the divide function to achieve this it all looks fine, however in AD it leaves white hairlines as shown in the images attached. Surely it should not do that. Also I would again mention something which I have done on several occasions and that is the importance of a shape builder function within AD. The importance of this function has up to now not been taking seriously by the R&D team but if you are a designer you will appreciate how useful this little function is in Logo creation, it saves a lot of time. I'm flagging this up again now! Ring AD 1.tiff Ring AD 2 whiteline.tiff Illustrator rings.tiff
  17. Hi LyricsGirl Just read a post by one of the staff at Affinity which I hadn't yet read, it appears there is a difference in the way FF reacts with the Mac OS and windows. On this basis, as it doesn't work for you I assume you're on windows so are dependent on FF to make it work on windows platform within AP. I'm sure as AP becomes more popular as a professional choice FF will have to get its act together and make their software work for both platforms.
  18. Hi LyricsGir Not sure what version of Filterforge you have but I do know both version 5 and 6 works fine in AP because I did have version 5 installed and have recently upgraded to version 6 which works fine. I work on mac but If it works on the mac version of AP as it does then there is no reason why it should not work on a windows version. Have you tried installing latest version (if you can justify the additional expense).
  19. I have filter forge 5 and 6 and they work fine on mac version by simply going to preferences and selecting it in plugins from there. There shouldn't be any need to mess about with anything at all. I would have thought it should be the same in windows version.
  20. LarryM Answer is no, not at the moment. Can but hope this will be possible in the not too distant future. For now I just go back to Photoshop and do what I need to do there and copy and paste the style text or whatever into AP as a png. You can't copy over a style direct if it has a pattern unless you create it as a png as AP as yet does not support a pattern filter to handle importing patterns. This has been raised by others, hopefully the Dev team will give this some serious consideration.
