  1. The more I use AP the more I find odd little anomalies which seem in some ways a bit strange. In particular, you can't seem to arrange the brush list in an alphabetical order and there is no ability to create folders where you can sit specific brush categories, ie all smoke brushes in one folder, all fog brushes in another, etc, you get the picture. It would make selection of brushes more logical and quicker to locate and eliminate the need to scroll through a long list when you have a comprehensive list of brushes. Because of some creative restrictions I find currently present in AP, I find myself split working half the time in Photoshop and AP so it may be I have yet to discover ways to improve things in AP. Maybe this small but important issue could be addressed soon in order to make the UI workflow process easier. The goal for me is to jump fully over to AP but until AP can progress further and plug some of these workflow issues and include some of the creative tools I need to refer to on a daily basis, I will still have to revert back to Photoshop on occasion. The AP dev team are doing a great job, just need to iron out some of these workflow issues which I'm sure they will. I see a lot of negative, and perhaps unnecessary Facebook style comments on this forum of Affinity (Serif) but rest assured, I am with you all the way and only wish to give constructive feedback that hopefully helps to make a very good product even better.
  2. Yes I am aware that filterforge is not yet compatible with Affinity programs, what I’m asking is what’s happened to the so called talks between yourselves and filterforge which I’ve been lead to believe are on going and what stage are they at to make filterforge compatible with Affinity products. Without putting some importance on making third party plugin’s work with Affinity, Affinity will always be out on a bit of a lim when competing with Adobe.
  3. Hi Dominick. I mean that whatever line path you make, the gradient will follow it. Say you drew a circle and applied a gradient, that gradient will faithfully follow the path of the circle, likewise if you drew a wavy line, it will follow it. Are you familiar with Adobe illustrator? Look up using gradients in illustrator and you will see what I mean.
  4. At the risk of keep harping on about these suggestions, I don't remember (my age I guess) whether they were acknowledged as being valid. Indulge me here, I will just outline those features again, which as a designer for some years, I consider essential in everyday working which at present are not available in both programs. A/Designer 1) Shapebuilder tool, requested a number of times by others. 2) Multiple strokes (know this to be on roadmap). Is this likely to make 1.7? 3) Gradients on a path A/Photo 1) Multiple gradient strokes as in Photoshop 2) In FX - Bevel/emboss, enhanced chisel hard/soft, contour and texture ability 3) In FX - Pattern overlay 4) Access to all gradients in FX which are not accessible at the moment. I know this must be a real headache for the development team to keep having so many suggestions from all directions but as far as Photo is concerned, it's development has to date largely concentrated on Photographers but it would be nice to hear some positive enhancements for designers in the next upcoming upgrades. I would like to know what the Dev team think about the items above. Really like these programs and really want them to be even better still.
  5. The last time I visited this question I was led to believe that Serif and filterforge were in discussion with regard to making Filterforge compatible with Photo for mac. Can anyone tell me what the latest situation is with regard to this topic.
  6. Ah! Yes this a good one! Completely overlooked that little gem. Good one Gear Maker, thanks
  7. As an experiment I’ve tried this modifier in Photo and it works fine as per your video, everything keeps correct aspect ratio as you scale from centre. So, seems to me there is a bug in designer.
  8. When scaling from centre you say hold down the command key modifier which is fine but, there does not seem a way to hold the shape in with it’s set aspect ratio. I must confess, I haven’t used designer all that much as I use Photo mainly. I’ve tried all combinations to without success. On your video you seem to hold the aspect ratio but damned if I can work it out. Is it possible the latest version has a bug or am I just not familiar enough with the program. A little direction needed please.
  9. Would nice to have gradients on a path too as in illustrator.
  10. Hi Psenda Actually I can get all my gradients by selecting the gradient tool and selecting swatches and they show up there. Still strange how they don’t show in the gradient tab though. I have no idea why I could not get them before. I also have black to white swatch which works the same as black to transparent in Photoshop. All is well with the world.
  11. IceCube it’s actually called Vectorizer 2, slightly got The name wrong.
  12. Hi IceCube If you use a mac, take a look at Vectorize. I don’t personally use it but if you want to turn photo’s into vectors then this will do the job. I don’t think it supports windows though.
  13. Hi team Great that 1.6 has been released. I’m now wondering what’s on the teams roadmap because the current roadmap doesn’t show much in the way of creative functionality. A number of the following items have been raised before but don’t show in any roadmap. Gradients in swatches panel should also be available in FX gradient overlay and is not at present. Also not available in the gradient tool panel. plugin support for Filterforge, Flood 2 and On1 Photo Raw 2017/18. I see a recent post says filterforge and Affinity are talking and a promise of an upgrade to make it work is on the way. No standard black to transparent gradient as in Photoshop. No multiple gradient stroke on single layer. No pattern overlay in FX, this stops to ability to bring in styles in full from Photoshop. Bevel and emboss FX contour and texture tab would be an advantage. Filter gallery or something similar as in Photoshop would be a bonus. The above all add very creative functions which I hope will surface soon as at present I still at times have to revert to Photoshop for these functions. I’m only pointing these out as I can’t see much in the way of added creative functionality on any roadmap or am I not looking in the right place.
  14. Hi Applewoodj. At the moment Filterforge doesn’t work with 1.6. I have communicated with Filterforge and they say Affinity needs to talk to them so that they can work together to make filterforge work. It used to work with version 1.5 but Affinity apparently have made changes to the code base and consequently it no longer works. I’m hoping now that 1.6 is finally released they will put some emphasis on making more plugins work. I also have (Flaming Pear) Flood 2 which won’t work and again the dev’s say Affinity needs to talk to them. Hopefully they will...soon!
  15. Wacom tablets work just fine with AD. Tablets are related to operating systems not individual programs to work. Hope this helps.
  16. Everything seems to have gone quiet on the final 1.6 version release front. Would be nice to have an update on where we are at. Appreciate you may still be under staffed but a little info now and then wouldn’t go amiss.
  17. RCR Filterforge works just fine in the stable version 1.5.2. I can only deduce that the codebase change has introduced an incompatibility. The fact InfoCentral has made the point that the supported windows version has stopped working as well backs up my theory the the codebase change is the culprit. Interesting that Serif have not yet responded.
  18. I'm hoping Serif can shed some light on Filterforge's response. As Filterforge did originally work in AP, what is it that Serif have changed to stop it working. They say they have undergone a significant code change with 1.6 so how has this affected third party developers?
  19. Hi I recently contacted Filterforge to find out why it has stopped working on Mac. Their response is as follows: "We haven't been able to make Filter Forge work reliably under Affinity for Mac, so we have never supported it. The culprit is Serif's design decision to use some sort of sandboxing that prevents proper data exchange between Affinity and Filter Forge. If it is changed we will surely look into supporting the Mac version." Your response to this please.
  20. Hi Sean P The jaggy may be considered normal but I had not noticed the edges that jaggy before. Might be just me. With regard to the other matter, I can't seem to get a screen capture. The screen capture just shows black. If you have an image open and then click on the stock tab, the screen shows black but if you then click on any one of the other tabs the screen corrupts. If this does not happen with you then it has to be something my end but it's never happened with any of the other beta's.
  21. By the way, I'm aware rastering the type makes it pixel based but I have not noticed it being as jaggy as it appears now.
  22. What do you mean filterforge have already addressed this in a previous thread? It used to work fine but since beta 4/5 it no longer works. What's changed in your code to stop it working? Have filterforge communicated with you on this issue?
  23. Filterforge still does not work with beta 5. Also still cannot access gradients from main library in All FX effects!! Palettes show up but no gradients appear. Rasterised type appears jaggy. Clicking on "stock" tab appears to corrupt main artwork window.
  24. Just realised, Filterforge 6 no longer works in Beta 4 whereas it did before.
  25. Since Beta 3/4 AP will not quit. I'm using OS Sierra 10.12.6. I keep getting the message "At least one file is currently being opened. Please wait for files to load before quitting the application". I end up having to force quit.
