If it is an Image Layer then you'll need to rasterize it first in order to do what you want with pixels in the Pixel Persona.

Nevertheless, there are several places in the UI where if the contrast between selected & unselected items was higher, it would be much easier to tell which was which, particularly on large displays like on 27" iMacs. Two examples for the Dark UI:

Some users have complained about this from day 1 of the first release of AD for Macs but little has been done to correct it other than halfway measures like two choices for UI Contrast. The above is with that set to "High" but compared to other apps the contrast is still considerably less than optimal.

... while "logical" is quite relative. 🦄

I my impression this feature is coded with a half-baked concept, "by design" for cumbersome usage, in multiple aspects:
    • The pop-up dialog/panel needs to get reopened for alignment / distribution in several steps multiple times.
    • The Spacing / Distribution option gets reset to "Auto" once the dialog is closed.
    • The submenus contain quite a few Alignment options for special use cases (page, spread, margins) – while there are no submenu options at all (grayed out) for Distribution / Spacing where they would be required especially for a matrix of multiple objects (vertical + horizontal):
    • Thus, the submenus lack special options for spacing/distribution. For instance like "next neighbour" or a "radius" value or "grid" settings (column, row) etc.
    • The "Apply" button is irrelevant + misleading: If you just leave the dialog (i.e. click in your layout) the current setting gets applied anyway / automatically.

I did not mention "Cancel" but leaving the panel / click in the layout, for instance to select other or additional objects. Then a current setting gets applied + the dialog gets closed.
For me, UI and UX are always part of the "logic" of using a feature and vice versa the logic is a condition to understand how it works. But, just being "logical" is a valuable argument only when the logic has no alternative. In this case, the UI/UX simply follows some logic … as well as a coded bug is "logical", regardless of whether 'by design' or unintentional. That's why I call it "half-baked": it's unclear if that's really what's intended. Apart from its own logic.
Especially in this panel the order appears different: Certain options are obviously selected already as soon the dialog opens ("Auto distribute" + certain menu options) – before the user has a chance to select an option. With the consequence that the choice of one of the buttons may first cause an unwanted, possibly chaotic  change to the layout, as @KarinC pointed out above. – Compare other UI spots / panels: We may choose a font weight, set a text size or define values in the Colours Panel independent of an object or a further task selection.
I understand your point. I just notice that several solutions can be "logical".

R C-R reacted to v_kyr in Does Affinity Photo V2 offer Image Tracing? (image to vector)
It may look like that at first glance, but it isn't, because there are some serious differences here.
Inkscape reuses modified versions of Potrace & AutoTrace as it's vectorizing engines. They enhanced both, added color quantisation capabilities for Potrace and are using the AutoTrace center-line tracing capabilities, ... etc.- They can do so, as Inkscape is free open source and no propriatary commercial app at all. Commercial apps like the Affinity ones would need instead a paid commercial license for reusing a Potrace lib here. And AutoTrace is under GPL. Further writing your own good trace/vectorization algorithms from scratch is no easy and trivial task at all, especially when dealing with all possible tracing aspects, like correct color handling and center line-tracing facilities, ... etc. So it is some effort to do all that in a good working and well behaving manner. But it's of course doable as many other commercial apps with such build-in features already show.

The addition of data entry in V2.2 is great. can you please add the option to change the colors in parallel, e.g. by defining a start color (current color of layer) and target color, so that the objects change the fill / stroke color in defined steps (# of duplicates) similar to a gradient?

Some Panasonic Lumix models are already supported (list here) but since the Serif engine relies on LensFun for this it won't be until that library is updated and the update is included in an update to AP, there is no way to know when all that will happen.

R C-R reacted to Hangman in Export preview scale/size - where?
    Hi @Mr Lucky,
Unless this is a new issue specific to Ventura then this is a long outstanding bug. The official position from Serif is that Vector file formats are non-zoomable (even though they actually are and I seriously hope they don't fix that) but Raster file formats are zoomable...
The bug on macOS is that when selecting an export format if any text entry field has focus, which it does by default for most formats, this overrides any attempts to zoom using the keyboard shortcuts so with something like a PDF export you need to first select and non-editable field in the export options panel, e.g., clicking the 'Include Layers' option so that non of the editable text fields have focus. At that point, the default keyboard shortcuts will work, Cmd +/-, Cmd 1, Cmd 2, Cmd 3 and Cmd 4.
The same issue applies to Raster formats, again you need to ensure none of the text entry fields have focus (e.g., selecting JPEG results in the Width field having focus) to be able to use the keyboard shortcuts but Raster formats do allow you to Alt mouse scroll over the preview in addition to the keyboard shortcuts for zooming...
Note: I'm showing Monterey here where the above is working albeit haphazardly so you may not see the same on Ventura if this is a genuine bug.

And what happens once you plugged the reader + inserted the SD card? – What did you do when the SD card appeared on your desktop or in a Finder window? Which app did you use, what file path did you choose … ?
    • Possibly you used this application: https://support.apple.com/guide/Image-Capture
    • Possibly your default file path for images is your "Pictures" folder (which gets created by macOS on every mac). To jump to this folder:
    1. Copy this coloured text: ~/Pictures
    2. Switch to the mac "Finder" application.
    3. Press Command-Shift-G on your keyboard.
    4. Paste the copied text into the opened dialog.
    5. Press the "Open" button (or the "Enter" key on your keyboard).
    6. Your folder "Pictures" will be opened.
Since you did not ask a question it is unclear if you expect to get help by your created forums topic – or if you rather just want to complain about your mac. So, if you have a question to the Affinity forum, just let us know.

My guess is that is a trick question. Various Affinity proprietary object types will be exported as generic paths when exported to SVG, so one cannot say what was in the Affinity document with any certainty.
In case it escaped your notice, the discussion has never been about reconstructing an Affinity document from an SVG.

R C-R reacted to thomaso in Any way to perfectly align handles?
There is no option to move the handles of several selected nodes "synchronously" … or to move handles of different nodes at a time at all. Alternatively there are various possible workflows:
    A. For symmetric objects another workflow would be to create one half of the wanted object, then copy + flip this and merge the two curves / join according nodes to one common node.
    B. If you prefer to drag the node handles the various snapping options may help + display guides and sizes. Also creating custom guides as snapping axis or cross point. Instead of custom guides any extra object (e.g. rectangle) can get aligned with the wanted object + used as snapping edges for the node handle dragging.
    C. Another option in your shown example would be to copy + move + edit the black ellipse to achieve the gray object.
    D. Finally a special feature of "auto-node-adjustment" may be useful in your situation (unfortunately I don't know the true / official Affinity name). Therefore you select certain nodes of the object to edit, –> select a "target" object (not its nodes), –>  drag one node onto one of the target and hold a moment. This will move the nodes + their handles as "copies" of the used target object without changing the unselected nodes – like so at 1:05 min …

The Color Picker Tool (the item on the Tools panel) has multiple functions. When "Apply to Selection" on the context toolbar is enabled & there is a selection, then it both picks a color & fills the selected item with it. Optionally, it can also add the picked color to the document palette (via a modifier key -- see the status bar to see what it is). There are also contextual options to set the source for the picker (global or current object), & for picking from a single pixel or the average of several pixels (via the radius setting on the contextual toolbar).
Like the dropper on the Color & Swatches panels, it also adds the picked color to the small color well next to the dropper icon in those panels, which by itself does not fill anything with color. That small color well can be used to set the fill color of a selected item by clicking on it, so taken together with the eye dropper next to it, it also has two functions, one to pick a color (via a drag) & the other to fill an item (via a click).
With that many functions & behaviors to choose from, it can take a while to sort out how best to use them all, but if you take the time to do that you will probably find each of them useful.
