I may not have understood what you want correctly but if you have selected the objects you want to keep, you can copy them to the clipboard & use File > New from clipboard, you will get a new document with just those objects in it on a canvas just large enough to enclose them all. Then if desired/necessary you could resize the canvas & export that to a new PDF.

I agree with the ruling. Posts in the new era can be added to threads that were made before the new era.

With all the layers you want to keep selected, right-click one of the selected layers and select Lock

Select > Select All Layers will then just select the unlocked layers

I've not seen any glitches with Monterey either...

You are already set on staying with V2 without knowing what will be in V3? What if there are huge improvements in V3, you are stubborn enough that you are not happy with a deal to keep yourself from buying software that could potentially be a big improvement for what you need?

Pruned and locked. William has provided his feature request but as others have pointed out, it's been requested before. No need for another thread on this.

As I remember it, only the 'premium' channels like HBO ever promised no ads, & that still applies. As for paying for Amazon Prime, it has saved me hundreds of dollars a year on purchases & shipping costs & gives me access to tons of high quality TV shows & movies I could not otherwise get, so for me it is well worth the cost.
BTW, even without paying the extra charge for ad-free viewing, the ad breaks are far fewer & shorter than on broadcast or non-premium cable channels. That's one reason I look for & am willing to pay for services that let me avoid the ever more present & disruptive commercial breaks on U.S. TV.

Turning on hardware acceleration will not slow down Affinity, it should only speed things up. If you're having stability issues then turn it off.

Bingo! Even across different countries (hence me mentioning pt-PT vs. pt-BR) technical jargon can vary, and you'd need at least one expert consultant and one translator (or, ideally, someone who can do both) for each language…
Regarding automatic translation, I've seen such stupidity on apps distributed by large companies that I suspect many didn't get the memo yet, but I hope they will after getting enough user feedback. Just yesterday I fired a string of five or six support tickets to Leroy Merlin (it's like a big French hardware store chain with locations across all of Europe), because their Enki home automation control app is full of bugs, and one of the last ones, pertaining to their deplorable translation efforts (complete with entire paragraphs in English on the very support ticket submission webform), was focused on this pearl: the usage of the Portuguese word “Perto”, which means “close” as in “nearby”, for the “Close” button, instead of the correct and standard verb “Fechar” in the infinitive. Interestingly, the app was, I suspect, done by French coders, but they must've standardised in English, because “Fermer”, the unambiguous conjugation of the same verb in French, would never translate into “Perto”… But that just goes to show how you just can't rely exclusive in “AI” (it's not true AGI, it's just LLMs, and LLMs are just mass plagiarising machines with some PR and advertising lipstick on them).

They could try allowing and encouraging staff to try to get a Master degree for their research work. A great incentive for those of the staff who would regard that as a marvellous opportunity and a great opportunity for Canva to benefit from the results of those Master level studies.
I hope that nobody dismisses this suggestion on the basis of not understanding that some universities allow research for a Master degree to be carried out in an industrial setting with only occasional visits to the university. Two supervisors, one in the workplace, a member of the business's staff, and one at the university.

You seem to be missing the modifier key hints at the bottom of the window.
On a Mac, ctrl-drag the Transform Origin to use it as a handle. That functionality has been in the apps for about 5 years.

Definitely a bad decision…

I assumed that the missing help search field was just the normal bug and not intentional. If it's intentional, I agree, we need it back because it's how we find menu commands. At least when it's working. 🙂 

The Document menu commands (and their shortcuts) Document > Next|Previous Page, Document > First|Last Page, and Document > Go to Page will maintain the current zoom level, as will the scroll bar in the workspace.

There is no way to answer the questions about what will happen in the future other than to wait & see, or as @SallijaneG just wrote, time will tell.
Where did you see Canva say that? AFAIK, they never have claimed they are targeting Adobe or any other company in particular, just trying to improve their share of the graphics software market.

Only thing that's related to this tool that I hope gets improved is this panel:

It's too small. Being able to resize it and making the Profile feature more global so other features could reuse them, i.e. brush settings, would make it even better. It also needs an option to invert the curves.

  If you have reported a bug and it is not yet fixed, please do not report it again. More fixes will be made during the 2.5 beta cycle.

From a very quick perusal of the Canva site, it would seem they support many different RTL languages, so it is possible this will help with adding RTL support to Affinity.
I guess time will tell ....
