[AD keeps resetting the studio / context tools / tools]

[AD keeps resetting the studio / context tools / tools]

Hi all - so my AD keeps sporadically resetting on open, where I have to go to:

View >  Show Context Toobar
View > Show Toolbar
View > Show Tools
View > Studio > and uncheck Hide Studio

to get me back to how I last left it.

I think it happens mostly when I open a file without first launching AD but it's too sporadic to pin-point (I forget). I know 'tab' toggles the UI.

AD version 1.7.2
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)
OSX 10.14.6

[Problem with the grid]

Hello all - I seem to have a problem getting grids to work properly.  My artboard is 297 x 210mm. If you look at the first image and note the spacing of the 2nd axis, it's 10mm which into 210mm is equally divided. If I then add to the1st axis a spacing of 148.5 (second image) the grid shifts. If I divid the 1st axis further, it keeps shifting (image 3).

 

What the hell is going on / have I missed?

[Where are the Before and After Paragraph settings?]

Try setting your paragraph offset values here (purple)

Note that if, say, a 10pt offset "below" is matched in the following paragraph by a 10pt offset "above", the two values will only result in just a 10pt offset (rather than a 20pt one). However increasing one or other will increase the offset.

Thanks. I didn't realise this but also my panel was blank but a reboot seems to of fixed it. Thanks again  :)

[Where are the Before and After Paragraph settings?]

I'm trying to stop my returns spacing being off in comparison to my leading on body text, and I believe I can do that via the Before and After Paragraph settings but I can't find them. Where are they?

 

I'm on Mac / AD 1.5.5

[Monotone / Duetone]

Managed to get a pretty good approximation. In PS you would:

 

Grayscale > Duotone (or Mono / Triple etc) > Select colors and then convert back to CMYK to get the same visual effect, working in CMYK did this: Menu > Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Gradient Map Adjustment then in the panel I set the'first' and 'last' colors in the slider and deleted the middle one. 

 

If there better ways. Be good to know about it.

Does Affinity Photo or Designer have a Monotone  / Duotone / Tripletone to create this sort of effect:

Just curious: how would you use the spiral to create evenly spaced concentric circles ?

 

My mistake, its the Polar Grid Tool that is used to create concentric circles. Starting to forget Ai already!

Yes, the command J gives a proportional change. The easiest I found was to turn on the grid, invoke snapping, and draw, draw, draw.

 

Yep, thats how I did it. Wondered if there was an easier way. Thanks.

Thanks for the rely - unfortunately that gives a smaller gap each time (check link). Does affinity have a Blend (as in Illustrator) tool or something like the Spiral tool, do you know?
