@Copper Star Media Yes, that's all done manually -- as everything is on one page, it's easy to see if the numbers and days connect.
For a day planner or something similar, I would probably try to find a smart way of misusing page and chapter numbers, make twelve files for the month and put the file name inthe document ... or have an intern do it and fire him the second I spot the first mistake (grin).
But seriously: If you look at it calendars frim an amount of text point of view, it's just about getting 365 numbers right, no impossible task.

Fein, danke!

    Hello,
We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of the first release candidate build of Affinity Designer 1.7.2 for macOS.
If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry.

    - Fix for bleed export options.

    - Fix for pen tablet barrel rotation input turning the wrong way.
    - General performance improvements.
    - Text performance improvements.

    - PDF export improvements.
    - Added TGA export.
    - Different icon for beta builds.
    - Added a warning when deleting a global colour.
    - Fixed broken Japanese keyboard input (sorry!).
    - Fixed printing CMYK documents on older versions of macOS.
    - Fixed crash when reentering export dialog under certain conditions.
    - Fixed crashes when pasting screenshots into the app.
    - Fixed loss of legacy HSL adjustment HSV state after a save.
    - Assorted small fixes and improvements.
    - Help improvements.
    - Localisation improvements.

Here are some screenshots of a graphic pitch I have worked on. I used Affinity Designer to create graphic labels and texturing maps. Photo was used for some simple easy colour correction. A colleague of mine asked me what is on fire because of the orange sparkles I guess it was the computer during rendering.
Then I used the renders to create a demo animation. Unfortunately this project was not developed into anything real  but at least I learned some new things

Are you planning on adding pass through?
As mentioned by several people many times it is an essential feature for most publications with ads and elements prepared by other designers. No support would transport Affinity users back into the dark ages of graphic design with incompatible files, large TIFs and illegal font exchange to make things work ...

Easiest explanation is that your originals are 1-bit which compresses nicely, and when you bring them to Publisher they are converted to CMYK. Known issue that Publisher does not handle 1-bit images well.

I can confirm there is something weird going on in PDF export. I used 2 typefaces in text run; Interface Black and Agenda Black (both old TTFs). Agenda was fine, Interstate turned to curves on export.

I'll be honest here - we will never implement 1bit document support..

So I'm mostly a Photo user (and abuser) but I have a hand in a craft brewery as well. With a limited release coming up, it was a good opportunity to try my hand at some design as well for some small-batch labels. I've done logos and such in other applications but this is the first time using Designer for something like this. It's predominantly assembly of components I culled from elsewhere (not a freehand artist here by any definition) and then utilizing AD to unify the look.

Answer found, but not a solution
I played around with the two files I uploaded above and discovered that Publisher ALWAYS (independent of the PDF settings) creates curved text when using some particular fonts ... when I switch the entire publication to Arial, the file size (including embedded fonts!) shrinks down to 0,3 MB.
So, the answer is, that Publisher apparently cannot embed all fonts (InDesign, Quark and all other DTP applications I have used throughout my career do) which, unfortunately makes it unusable for me -- it is an absolute dealbreaker not being able to provide my customers with files that come at a reasonable size for downloads / web publishing.
What I don't understand is, that the early beta versions DID embed fonts (see old file 1-2019 above), so the feature must have been removed or deactivated somewhere between the first betas and release.
Can someone from Serif explain, what happened, please?

I've had similar issues with HUGE PDF sizes...   I have a 130 page scanned PDF I needed to make a change too...  the starting file was 32mb...   the PDF is just images no OCR so no fonts... just 130 pages of b/w page images.    Loading the document in publisher and saving it results in a 320mb publisher file...   exporting the file back to PDF results in a 400mb PDF.

If I do this same thing in the latest version of Page Plus the final PDF is 39mb.   Larger but not crazy larger.

The majority of the images are at 400dpi...   I can get a smaller PDF if I use the web profile but at 72 dpi it looks like garbage.   So my solution so far is... don't use Publisher, keep using Page Plus.

I made a small test document both with InDesign and Publisher. A two page document with page of text and a page with two images. Exported both with PDF/X-3. Publisher created 6 MB file, InDesign 3,6 MB file. Publisher has set default compression quality to 85 %, InDesign has maximum quality. Still Publisher creates much bigger file. Both look OK in Acrobat.

    Hi,
just wanted to let you guys know how incredibly impressed I am with how Publisher is developing -- I am really happy with you adding some extra features and having a really long beta cycle rather than pushing out a software that cannot compete with others. Love the reworked master pages, the search--replace enhancements (RegEx, RegEx, RegEx!) and the new pinned objects!
It's about time that Adobe gets some competition in the pro market (there's lot's of semi-pro applications out there with tons of templates and flashy features, but nothing except Quark Xpress that can actually do what InDesign does).
    Thanks for your hard work!

I have set up some export and colour options for Publisher and it's a bit annoying that I have to do that again for the beta, especially since Serif recommends using the beta instead of the release version because of the fixed bugs and such ...
