(Unfortunately I couldn't open the AD 1.5.4 file in AP to apply a proper pixelation blur on 'his particulars')

Mediafuel reacted to Sunset in The Whittler
I have been following the workbook tutorial for The Whittler - not completed, there are other demands on my time - but I've enjoyed going through the processes, especially using the vector and raster brushes to create texture on the tree. I completed the robot with simple linear gradients for now, the rest can follow another day. This is my interim take on The Whittler and, whilst it is capable of greater finesse in the future, I am happy with it at this stage.

Thanks for the "heads-up". I usually have my speakers muted when I'm browsing, and I hadn't bothered to unmute them when I watched that trailer the first time around.

Mediafuel reacted to kevinmcsherry in Sultanas or Raisins? A helpful poster.
A 'vintage' poster made from a public domain image and a some textures scanned from old book endpapers and a back cover. The quote is a genuine reply to a question on the Guardian website some years ago. In amongst all the sensible replies, one Stuart from Bristol posted it. So, all credit to Stuart of Bristol who seems to be untraceable. Maybe he'll see this and make contact for I think he wins the Internet.

Mediafuel reacted to JotHa in My first vector art
Came across Affinity Designer a week ago in an online article (heise.de, German media). It looked very interesting, but I'm not a professional in art, just an ambitious amateur. The price was just below the better-have-second-thought limit, so I just pressed the button ;) And what should I say, I'm completely convinced that it was worth it! The app is powerful, intuitive and really easy to use. Keep up the good work!
I finished now the first vector drawing I ever did and I'm almost satisfied with the result. Base was a pencil sketch, the drawing is done completely with shapes and curves - no pixel adjustments needed. The piece is the starting point for bigger personal project I have in mind for a longer time - and maybe I will finish it now that I have the tools ;).
I missed there a tool to place a shape or curve along a path. This would've gave much more flexibility when doing the strokes than the power copy. Didn't found it in the Feature Request Index nor on the Feature Roadmap. Is it already there and I just missed it in the app or is not recognized as an "official" Feature Request so far?

Hi, can this be added to your list of feature requests, thanks

Mediafuel reacted to DonTheDude in Artboard Guides
I think this is something that needs changing so that a guid can span artboards. I was bit by this while laying out multiple versions of a main webpage. I wanted to check the vertical alignment across boards because it looked like I messed it up.

Mediafuel reacted to DEF13 in Retro 80s graphic design
Hi everybody,
80s retro graphic design for a famous french DJ (and a friend).
He asked me to illustrate his podcast channels. We have validated together a retro 80s design style with all the codes of this period.
Here are the first two design of this project ... Fully made with Affinity Photo.
Enjoy it :-)
Note : I hope the 1.5 version will solves the issues I met during the process.

Mediafuel reacted to kevinmcsherry in 1930s Style Travel Poster Revisited
I re-worked this idea in AD after first doing much the same thing directly from a photo in AP. I prefer the new version; it's more graphic. I learned lots of new techniques, for example, the use of the pencil tool which was so useful for that vegetation.

Mediafuel reacted to wordsberry in Just Lick It - Ice Cream Doodle
I swear I'm not obsessed with ice-creams but there's something soothing about drawing ice-cream cones and giving them a bit of life :D
Any feedbacks? I've only been doing illustrations for the past 7 weeks ...

Mediafuel reacted to GMPhotography in Summer Sunset at a nearby creek.
I discovered some issues with this photo the other day so decided to try and redo it and fix it using Affinity Photo. I gotta say, I love the tools Affinity offers for masking out different parts of different photos when stitching panoramas. I had some camera motion blur in the trees in the first version that was caused by one horizontal series of the 9 tiled shot (3 rows of 3)
Anyway here is the end product.

Mediafuel reacted to wordsberry in Doodle chronicles
My 6th week switching from the occasional hand doodles to using affinity designer to make illustrations. Still new but I decided to force myself to draw something everyday day and put it up on youtube to hold myself accountable for my learning..
Here's a drawing I did earlier and the timelapse video for it :D

Mediafuel reacted to Sebastian A. in First time using Affinity
So hello guys! First time posting and first time using Affinity. Advanced Adobe user and never thought I'd use anything other than Illustrator, but after just a little time in Affinity I'm in love. Just wanted to show the first thing I made in it:) Hopefully my style will advance as I grow accustomed to the software.
Would love to hear what you people think of both Affinity and my image below!

Mediafuel reacted to Patrick Connor in AD Workbook - Is there a place to offer feed back?
Please feel free to do it here in this thread. In localising into German we found a number of things to improve for a second print run, so we are open to anything else we haven't caught, thanks
