Hey all, in continuing my scooter series for Redbubble, here is a retro styled Vespa/travel poster look featuring a scootering lady about Rome.

Lambretta will be next in the series.

    All done in Designer 1.6

Check it out on my Redbubble site as well.

Just another drawing similar to the Don Quixote drawing that I posted recently but it is much simpler. This is a drawing that I had done probably not long after Designer was released and I forgot that I'd done it. I used this picture as my first real project to get myself used to using Designer. I am a big fan of Albrecht Dürer and I hope that you enjoy it. I've included the outlines as well.

    Hi,

here´s my first steps in Affinity Designer. I worked long times with CorelDesigner and with Affinity Designer i can work faster and had a lot more fun :). For the Atari 400 and Atari 800XL  i had a photo reference and for the Gameboy my SolidWorks 3D model exported as DXF. With CorelDesigner i converted it to PDF to import and edit in AD.

    Thanks for this tool !

    Hope we´ll get an API or JavaScript/Python for Designer/Photo soon   ;) .

    Greetings,

Inspired by a client commission to create a 3D shopping centre. Ive wanted for a long time to create a cityscape.
Its taken me about 3 solid days work split over a couple of weeks. Here is the work 90% complete. Just need to add people an alien and a few cars.

EDIT: now added an X-Wing, Tardis, Dalek, A-Team Van, Yoshi Egg, Back to the Future Hover board, IT crowd man, DelBoy Van, and some Mario blocks for good measure.

    Greetings folks.

In this thread I will simply be documenting the journey, of things that I create with Affinity.
This is not meant to be a thread for tutorial, rather a thread for what can be made with the software.

With that on the side, feel free to ask questions if you have,
I will be happy to answer.

    Cheers!

    Hi Folks,

A pic of something I've been working on and off for the past 6 weeks. An old style rotary phone, Western Electric, ca. 1937. I recalled having a broken one of these as a child, and would take it apart and reassemble it often. Don't make 'em like they used to.

I got started on it when I heard a fellow on the radio who was talking about differences between generations. He told his kids, "My mother used to say 'You have such a bad sense of direction that you'd get lost in a phone booth.'" One of his kids looked blankly at him and asked "What's a phone booth?" He went on to say "It is a place where you sit down and rent a phone for a few minutes in private." Then his kids were really perplexed.

You could write to EXIF description but it is rather limited. Better if there were a notes panel in Studio.

I'd like a small notepad within Photo to write notes on to remind myself of various things when I come back to a project, or for when passing a project on to somebody else.

Logic X has this and its incredibly useful.

(of course there is a work around to write text on a hidden layer)

I wanted to do a little project to start to get the hang of Affinity Photo. So my long suffering wife of 30 years 'Deb' agreed to be the guinea pig for my first effort at making someone younger.
So this is a woman of 50+ made to look 40+.

I think it came out pretty good for a first attempt. The aim was to try to just take a few years off rather than do a beauty touch up.

I took the photo with my trusty little a6000 with the 16-50 kit lens.

Features of Affinity Photo used were..

    Frequency separation.
    In-Painting brush.
    Patch tool.
    Blur brush.
    Smudge brush.

I'm really impressed with how Affinity Photo performed. I had no real problems apart from my lack of knowledge. And the fact that I had never done anything like this before.

    Cheers -Scott.

I am just a retired oldie and I do most of my pieces for the fun of it. But, I am in the app-making thing after retirement (2 years  ago). Done one app so far called Gustaf, and I am in process of making more. Got illustrations done for 2 more. I am the Graphic Designer doing stills and animations. The programming stuff is done by my son (he is a professional app-maker and programmer) and he is also the sound designer. I am also freelance illustrating for an education publishing house. But most of the time I write my stories, illustrate them and I will publish some if I am lucky. Thank you for asking!

Kodiak and MEB, you make me happy writing such things! :D

@Paolo.Limoncelli. By the way, I use Affinity Photo for this piece and your brushes only! This painting is about the girl from Syracusa, Saint Lucia. We celebrate her here in Sweden on the 13 of December. She comes walking in the dark with lights in her hair and a red ribbon round her waist. She sings her songs about bringing light to the world together with her (also white dressed) maids. The mass is televised from my home town Varberg this year!

I am not much of a vector illustrator. Only bitmap, really. That is why I love DAUBs brushes. 110% right for me!

These are my very first illustrations done in AP using Daubs brushes. First one i painted in Grayscale at 300 dpi.

This second one is RGB at 300 dpi.

Hope you like what you see :)

A vector illustration -There are no 'Pixel Persona' layers in this one because I removed them. They didn't seem to add anything worthwhile to this image. There are a few textures though -the main one being a photograph of one of the sandstone paving slabs on my patio. Another thing about the working file is that after a few raster images were added, the file became quite sluggish to work with. I'm not sure if I'm approaching this the wrong way. Since it's vector, perhaps I didn't need to create the file at 300dpi? Some advice is needed for that.

I started with a sketch in Pixel Persona -that really is a great function of AD. I find it very useful.

    Best wishes,
    Kevin

    Hi there,

I played with some macro photography I shot a few days ago.
Working with the brushes in Affinity Photo is a nice experience (the luminosity jitter it's really interesting).
Below, a few samples of the photographs and the compositing.

Mediafuel reacted to MEB in [Designer] Dynamic chart tutorial
NOTE: This tutorial is based on the work of @WaveF who first showcased a dynamic chart built in Designer here.

Draw a donut with the Donut Tool and create a symbol from it. Drag the symbol to the canvas, stretch it vertically (the whole symbol layer), select the donut shape inside the symbol, turn sync off in the Symbols panel and apply the Rainbow object style to it. Turn sync on again. Select the symbol layer in the Layers panel, press cmd + J to duplicate it and move the duplicate up a little bit (press shift to constrain the movement) dragging it with you mouse, then press cmd + J again a few times to build up the rest as if they were horizontal slices of a cake. You can apply Layer Effects, Blend modes, transparency etc to the symbol to build up different effects. In the case above the symbol on the top uses an additional FX (not synced with the rest of the symbols) to help give it some volume/dimension. The "shadow" on bottom uses a solid grey fill/stroke instead of the Rainbow style. Here's the result. Sample file attached.

    Hi Potet,

If you right click the thumbnail of the mask in the Layers tab you will have the option to copy it or duplicate. :)

You can then paste it onto any layer you like!

This strikingly handsome Wood Duck showed up last
year at the nearby marsh. Alone of it's kind and just for
4 days, I had some good luck shooting many cool takes
of him but none of his female!

    Here is one…

This time,  I got a very beautiful Mandarin Duck female,
she too is alone, without her mate, and playing hard to
get but I was not gonna give up on this chance.

Apparently landed some hours before, she was trying
to hide under anything that offered shelter. In this case,
she was staying too close to the cache for me to get a
good horizontal, flat angle to shoot her.

For now, I will do with these…
