I'm using the trial version to see how I like Affinity. I also have come from using Appeture. The Sharpening is giving me trouble as well. I've looked at the tutorial and retried several times. I also looked at the help which actually shows there is a sharpening button but I don't see it on the left side with all the other buttons. I'm slowly learning and I love some of the things this app can do but I'm not fond of what it takes to sharpen an area. Prob because I'm not a professional... Just have a love for good photography and just want to fix my mess ups easier lol. With apperture that parts extremely easy but it has its limits as well. Would love to be able to figure this program out.
