LilleG reacted to mimusashi in Picking a color is a little awkward?

LilleG reacted to Shmoo in A.F: Resizing images isn't working very good?
Yes, perfect that works like it should.
Next question, the Resempler setting shouldn't it remember my last taken option to use that same option by default next time around?
Right now, it falls back to default 'Nearest Neighbour' option so I have to manually switch each time I resize an image.

LilleG got a reaction from Bigassdroids in Dream Gradients
Once you have downloaded the file, open Photo (or Designer)
Click on Swatches, then on the little lined-square icon at the far right
Scroll down to Import Palette and select Application, Document, or System, depending on where you want to use it.
Locate the file in your Downloads folder (or wherever you have it)
Select it and click on Open
And you're done.

LilleG reacted to jmac in LEGACY: Official Affinity Photo (Desktop) Video Tutorials
acapstick- Thank you for your reply and update on the additional documentation you have planned. It sounds great. My reference to missing items in the Help came mostly out of frustration at not being able to search for a specific topic. Everything I search for resulted in no response. I mistakenly assumed this meant the topic wasn't covered. I learned later this was something that was being fixed.
After reading many of the posts and responses I am beginning to better understand the complexity of nurturing a fledgling software like Designer and Photo and the daunting task of maintaining reference material for programs that are changing rapidly. Thanks to the development team for their continuing efforts and for trying very hard to keep users informed.

@Donato
If you open each topic and click on the Follow This Topic button in the upper right corner of each one, you'll get a notification when something is changed/added.

What we oldies and wimpy-eyed ones need is a UI designer/developer with less than perfect eyesight. :D

LilleG got a reaction from anon1 in A "Positives" forum?
Yes, but there's no "Purely Praise" section, and I was wishing there was earlier today. After a session of experimenting with all the features, I just wanted a place to tell you guys how much I appreciated the forethought and the focus on user-assistance that went into this app. There are so many little tweaks and options and helpers that AFPhoto really is a joy to use now.

LilleG got a reaction from donnaoverall in UI labels hard to read
I'm one of the 70+ users who squints and peers and hunches over the screen in Affinity and other "dark and low contrast" apps and dreams of a UI as easy to read as this forum. The dark UI is lovely but it's a pain to use. There should be a choice of light or dark UI. That way, everyone is happy and productive.

LilleG reacted to rui_mac in REALLY crop an image. How?
Let's say that I want to crop an image and really want to ditch all the pixels around the cropped area. As it is now, the crop tool just adjusts the size of the document and keeps the surrounding pixels out of view, but they are still there.
But what if I want to really get rid of them?!?
The Clip and Unclip commands just adjust the size of the document and, actually, perform the same effect when the document just has pixels out of view. Those commands just perform different things if there is empty space around the layers.
When that doesn't happen, they seem to do the same.
So, how can I really, REALLY crop and image, throwing away all the pixels I don't want?

LilleG got a reaction from JDW in Polygonal Lasso Tool
I agree with JDW's comments. Photoshop has become a monster but it does do some things exactly right. The polygon lasso is one of them.

LilleG reacted to velarde in [Multi] Sticky Settings
Hello.
I don't think I saw this in the Affinity Photo future Roadmap. But this should REALLY be incorporated in the "usability" improvements.
I'm starting to work and practice with the App store's final release to make myself familiar but it's a hassle to click and rechoose every tools's settings again and again in every new photo I open. My usual workflow:
- Open a photo and crop it. Please Keep it in the last setting I used . It always defaults to Unconstrained...
- Go to Develop Persona and check the Clipped highligts. I have to turn this setting ON every time..
- Use the clone or healing brush... if I switch between them I have to choose my soft edged brush again. It always defaults to hard edged.
- If i chose a section tool It always defaults to no antialias. I wanta 1 pixel feather and Antialias ALL of the time
the list goes on an on... you get it ;). That's a LOT of extra clicks that adds up...
I have all the tools I need in Affinity it's great but this is really a productivity killer. Please add this as soon as you can.
Thank for listening to us.

LilleG reacted to MikeFromMesa in Clicking on the history slider
During beta testing I became used to clicking on the history slider to move forward and backward in accumulated history. I could move the slider either forward or backward in steps or in one complete jump. But since the product launch (or perhaps one or two beta releases before) the slider is no longer working as I am used to.
If I have a series of history steps I can drag the slider either forward or backward. If the slider is early in the history, or at the start, I can click on the slider space and move it forward, either in steps or in a complete jump, depending upon the position I use to click. However the backward movement does not seem to work as well. I can move the slider back in steps but can no longer move it to the start of the history. If I click at the start of the slider space it moves back in steps, but will not move completely to the start. To do that I have to drag it. This is not how I remember this tool working before.

LilleG reacted to ronnyb in Feature Request: Inpainting option for crop and filters
Hey guys, congrats again for the awesome launch of Affinity Photo!
I had this idea: it would be great if filters and commands (such as Straighten / Rotate while Cropping) had a checkbox enabling an "Inpainting" option to fill in the newly blank pixel areas with Affinity's awesome Inpainting algorithm...
Thanks for considering this, I think it would be a very handy option.
Cheers!

LilleG reacted to decimate555 in Colour Palette really needs a "search box"
Hello,
I've noticed for example that when importing colours and using list view, the names of the swatches are presented nicely, however when scrolling through a very long list of swatches and one does not remember the list order for specific colors, it's quite a chore to scroll up and down long lengths.
Would you consider also introducing a "search" box so one can simply type the swatch name they are seeking?
Thank you.

I agree - a preferences option is the way to go here I think..

LilleG reacted to cosinus in Polygonal Lasso Tool
I'd like to support the request of JDW. Selecting a distorted rectangular area is very easy with a polygonial lasso tool that just lets you click the corners (as in Photoshop). Holding the shift button with the freehand selection tool of Photo only seems to work partially (not all 4 side are straight lines), and it is not as quick and convenient. Thanks!

LilleG reacted to Andy Somerfield in Polygonal Lasso Tool
Hi,
This was raised during the beta - we've agreed to do some more work on the PLT and it's a feature on the Photo Roadmap now - which means we are committed to it!
Hopefully it will make it's way into a customer beta soon!
Thanks,
Andy.

LilleG got a reaction from MelG in This is not working for me, Refund
The videos MEB mentioned are well worth watching. I bought Affinity Photo MAS after working my way through multiple beta releases. A day or so ago I spent a couple of hours watching all the videos and I learned something new in almost every one. A tip here, a trick there, a way of working that I was not used to but was quicker/easier. They're very good videos and they'll get you up to speed quickly.

LilleG got a reaction from rui_mac in Relative Resize and Crop (Affinity Photo)
Yes, please! Please add Relative as an option. It's so much easier to use, and more importantly, so much easier to understand. I've finally learned how to get what I want from Resize but it has given me fits in the process.
-
LilleG reacted to rui_mac in Relative Resize and Crop (Affinity Photo)
Please, add a Percentage option to both Document and Canvas Resize.
And, please, add a relative option to Canvas Resize. Sometimes we just want to add to or subtract from the current size.
Yes, I know we can type mathematical expressions in the numerical fields. But it is much easier to just type 5 or -5 than placing the cursor to the right of the number and them typing +5 or -5.

LilleG reacted to Allsop in Plug in compatibility
I agree wholeheartedly with Pentaxian especially when he says that this should take precedence over other things. This is so important to the ultimate success of this app.
