  1. Okay, thanks for responding so promptly. At least now, I can stop beating my head against the wall and, for now, just take an image back to Photoshop if I want to add a border/s. I really hope that when Affinity does work on the Resize issue that they come up with something as fast and easy…and repeatable…as Photoshop's method. I'm thinking they prolly will. They'd done so much other stuff that equals or exceeds PS that I don't think they're likely to do less in this area. :)
  2. Why is using Resize Canvas to add a simple 1 inch border around an image so freakingly difficult? In Photoshop: Cmd/Opt/C to Resize Canvas Select "Inches" (which will be remembered!) Click on "Relative" (which will be remembered!) Press Tab to highlight Width and enter amount Press Tab to highlight Height and enter amount Center the Anchor (which will be remembered!) And I can do that over and over again, adding successive individually-sized borders with different colors! In APhoto, if there is an equally easy method….or one that is even close….I have not found it in any of the hoops I've jumped through. The lock is in no way comparable to "Relative" because it will not add the same amounts to both sides. The only thing I've found that works dependably is to unclick the lock and add the same number of pixels to both W & H. That will work for one layer and filling that border with the desired color is no problem. But whether I add a new layer or use the same layer or duplicate the original background layer, adding the same amount of pixels to the unlocked Width and Height results in the top and left sides of the first resized layer being increased and the whole layer positioned to the upper left. The new background is added to the Bottom and Right sides. What am I doing wrong, if it's me? And if it's not, will the Resize function ever be improved to be as easy as Photoshop's?
  3. That's a cool illustration! Good job.
  4. I'm not a professional editor either but $50 for everything you get in Designer, plus the ease of use, is one hell of a bargain. And I can't wait to buy Photo, (also for $50, I assume?) And I will consider that money well spent also.
  5. Thanks, Alex. Those will come in handy while we're waiting.
  6. A progress bar when opening files would be nice. Perhaps my system is just slow but when opening either RAW files or a complex drawing, I wind up staring at a blank screen long enough to wonder if anything is happening. Not a biggie but it would be nice to have some indication that something was actually occurring.
  7. All of my Affinity file icons (those for Designer MAS, Designer Beta and Photo Beta and only those) had gone blank after downloading the latest betas, both Designer and Photo. I had assumed that the Photo beta had caused the problem. But deleting it and reinstalling did nothing to correct the problem. Finally deleted the Designer Beta…and all my file icons have been restored.
  8. Deleted Affinity Designer and downloaded from the App Store again, hoping that might fix the blank icons bit. It didn't. And a new image created in the new download of Designer is set to Open with….Designer Beta. If I change it in Get Info to Affinity Designer, close Get Info. Reopen Get Info and set it to Open with the App Store…I get the above warning.
  9. If I create a file in Designer MAS and save it, it is associated with Affinity Designer. But…if I do the Open with App Store on it, this is what I get: "AD MAS test.afdesign" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. What's going on with that? I've always had Security set to only allow applications from the Mac App Store and identified developers. But this never happened until the last download of the latest betas. Can't assign it to a particular one because I downloaded and installed them one right after the other.
  10. That problem with blank icon previews in both the finder and quick look has recurred for me with the download of the latest Designer and Photo betas.
  11. Just did the Get Info App Store thing on a photo file that is set to Open with Affinity Photo Beta and what I get is uti:com.seriflabs.affinity. Same thing for a Designer file.
  12. Dunno' about macCesar but I am running Mountain Lion. Is that part or all of the problem with the previews?
  13. The best way out of that is to manually select all of the .afphoto files, then do a Command/Control/i (that's an i as in Info) to bring up a Multiple Item Info panel. Change Open With to Affinity Photo Beta and close the info window. Repeat the process with the .afdesign files.
  14. Thanks, Matt. I hadn't realized you could do that.
  15. +1 for the color block in the Tools panel. If the Fill and Stroke icons there would bring up the color picker then that is one less panel we'd have to have open, eliminating the need for so much scrolling in the other panels.
  16. Thanks, but I know how to reset them correctly but I was wondering why they are not assigned to Affinity Photo to begin with since they are Photo files, saved from Photo. And I was really wondering if that had any bearing on the disappearing file icons, or I guess I should say, blank icons.
  17. Having Kelvin is a big improvement. And while the sliders are handy for large adjustments, and being able to type in the amounts helps a lot but it would be much easier if there were also up/down arrows to click when making multiple small adjustments to the entered amount.
  18. Why are files from the newest Photo beta set to "Open in" Designer? They have the .afphoto extension but if you click on one to open it from the Finder or a pictures folder instead of from within the Photo app, it will open in Designer. Is this related to the blank file icons thing?
