  1. Only if Auto-Crop is an option that can be turned OFF in Preferences. I quite often use Clone to extend a small area of cropped sky, etc. in a straightened photo.
  2. If you look in Preferences > Performance there is an AutoSave dialogue that you can set to the desired number of seconds between auto-saves. The percentage in the title bar refers to the amount of zoom currently being used. When you have other questions, ask away. There is always someone willing to help. :)
  3. Great videos! I'm learning so much from these videos, about Designer and about Photo.
  4. A vector eraser is something that has been asked for by others and, at least once, by me. It would make cleaning up a mistake or bobble so much faster and easier. Plus you can do some interesting things with shapes and a vector eraser. That's one of the things I miss from iDraw.
  5. Thanks, gearmaker. You and everyone have been so helpful. I'm going to spend today practicing these suggestions. That sounded like I thought one day would do it, huh? I just meant that I'm going to start today. And keep on until I can easily control the tool. So thanks again, everyone.
  6. Wow! Looking at all the layers on that, I think my biggest problem might be trying to do too much with too few lines!
  7. Thanks, Peter. All advice greatly appreciated. I do practice and I usually do okay until i put a node too close to a corner and wind up watching it squirt off in unwanted directions when I try to adjust. And at that point, any attempt at recovery usually makes it worse. Which leads to the hand-flinging muttering. Haven't had time to play with it today but I think the tip to move the node further away from the corner may solve that problem for me. I did do the egg thing. Such a clean and simple method! I haven't given up. My walk-aways are only temporary. I do want to become capable with the pen and I know it takes practice.
  8. Thank you for that link, Craig. As a "painter" rather than designer, I'm still struggling with bezier curves. Usually wind up throwing my hands up and walking off muttering at the point described in Fig 6. Nice to have some idea of what I'm doing wrong now and how to fix it when I lose control.
  9. Sorry, I wasn't following this topic. I use MediaPro from PhaseOne. It's on the pricey side these days but I bought it long ago when it was iView and just kept upgrading it every time a newer version came out. It was bought as iView MediaPro first by Microsoft and renamed as Expressions then PhaseOne bought it from Microsoft and reverted the name to MediaPro. https://www.phaseone.com/en/Imaging-Software/Media-Pro.aspx
  10. Since I have a very good standalone DAM, I'm selfishly hoping that if Affinity chooses to go this route they will create an extra app that one can buy or not, rather than adding anything more than basic features to Photo and Designer. I know some of our members would like Media Browser turned into a full-blown DAM but I would prefer them to concentrate on improving the already existing functions and on creating new ones that users are requesting.
  11. I understand the difficulty outlined in the first part of your reply and agree that it would be too difficult to implement, especially for a seldom used function. As a personal rather than professional user, it wouldn't be that onerous for me to simply work my way forward again so I'll withdraw my support for that. I'm not sure that I understand how the last paragraph would work in terms of correcting what had turned out to be a mistake. Does the proposed "rewind history" contain the steps following the deletion? And you just chose to reapply them as a group?
  12. The ability to go back and delete one step while keeping the ones that came after is a feature that would be very handy when it turns out that what looked fine with these additions goes seriously bad when you add this now-desired one. Of course, you can delete the interfering one and work your way forward again but a non-destructive delete in History would be a great time-saver.
  13. You might try initiating the download again. I've had that happen a couple of times on other apps but I was able to download successfully a bit later.
  14. It works like it should on a new layer. Just something in that file, I guess, huh? Should have tried it on a different one but I just didn't think of it. Thanks!
  15. With the pixel tool's size set at the default 1px, nothing shows up when i either click or draw a line with it. If I increase the size to 2 px, then I get a half-width 2px high tool. Do I have something set wrong?
  16. First of all, Affinity did not take your money; Apple took your money. Affinity specified the discounted price and the sale end-date to Apple. After that, it was all up to Apple. If the sale price was pulled early, it was pulled by Apple and was completely out of Affinity's control. You really need to take this up with Apple.
  17. This is a suggestion but I wonder if prices on the App Store are programmed by Apple to reset for the whole US at Midnight Eastern time rather than for each individual time zone within the US.
  18. If you want to keep the grid, instead of using the straighten tool, use the double-headed arrow just above the grid to rotate the image left or right. The image will rotate and the grid will remain vertical.
  19. How and where is the toolbar icon "Synchronize Defaults From Selection" used?
  20. I'm really hoping that Flaming Pear's Flood and Flexify will be included in the next update. They will load and actually do "something" but it's nothing you'd want to keep, basically a bunch of straight lines hinting at what should be there.
