Are Rodney and I the only ones having this problem? I've done the usual "fixes" including Control/Open for all 4 apps, MAS and betas. Still nothing. And like Rodney, they show up fine in the Finder.

Am I doing something wrong here? Media Browser in neither MAS Designer or MAS Photo will show the previews for .afdesign files or .afphoto files. It shows everything else (well, except for RIFF, but I didn't expect that) but no design or photo images are showing up. It also does not show .svg files. I don't really use Media Browser so I'm not sure if this is something new.

I probably should have mentioned that I'm having the same Shortcut issues in Designer beta as well. But I kinda' assumed (yeah, yeah ;) ) that if it was a ML issue it would be addressed in both apps.

That's great. I'm always afraid that "this time" a Mountain Lion fix is going to be just too much trouble to be worth it for the (few?) of us left.

Actually, the shortcuts window is truncated and the Close tab is not at the bottom but up inside the list area. If I open the Effects panel then place the shortcut window with the top of it on the Layers tab, the bottom of it is even with the bottom of Gradient Overlay. I think Mountain Lion has struck again. This is the second download and install I've done. The first time, I got a normal opening once and 3 or 4 opening where nothing showed in any panel...not colors, not layers, not effects, nothing. This time so far, things seem normal other than not being able to see the shortcuts.

Alex, I'm not seeing anything in the Shortcuts panel. Where the shortcuts are listed in your movie, there is nothing! No matter what I click on nothing appears in that list. What am I not doing to get them to appear? And yeah, I know that you can make them all go away with the Tab. But making one come back means a trip to View>Studio>and scroll to click on the one you want back. Time-consuming and too cumbersome to bother with so I just leave them all onscreen.

I can see the Shortcuts panel but can't do anything with it. Is it there just to show us what it will be like when implemented? Or am I just totally missing how to add anything to it? I'm really impatient for a way to shortcut all the panels. Would love to be able to turn them all off and just click one or more in as needed.

First reaction is that the Beta label shows up well on Designer, not so much on Photo. Not a biggie since I never relied on the icons anyway but it just doesn't look as cool as the Designer Beta.

Finish that trash delete. Repaired permissions again. Restarted again. Restored from TimeMachine from a week ago. No joy! Same old show the logo, pop in the panel labels, crash! I did run EasyFind and located several Designer and Photo Beta files, which I don't think were the cause of anything but they've now been deleted too. Ran Invisibility Toggler on the Designer Package contents...no hidden files. No hidden files anywhere relating to Affinity or Serif. I'm gonna' give it a rest for a while. I'm too tired of fooling with it to want to use it right now if I could get it working. :)

I found those and they were either in the previous delete or maybe in the Secure Empty Trash that is still ongoing. Man, that is slow. Still got 1,397 items to go. It's about 2/3 finished. After that finishes, I'll try another restart and either a new download or a Restore.

I have EasyFind and Invisibility Toggler. I'll try that next. At the moment, I'm in the early stage of a Secure Empty Trash on the latest Designer download and a few user-library files I found. This is gonna' take a few minutes. In the meantime, thanks to both of you guys. It's a lonesome feeling when a favorite program crashes without warning or explanation.

Just restoring it over the current non-working one did not help. Guess I need to track down every Designer app-related file I can find and delete them before doing a Restore and see if that will work.

Hadn't thought about using my TimeMachine Backup. I'll try that now.

I assume you mean caches in my user library? There is no Affinity caches there or in the system library either? Am I looking in the wrong place? Yes, it happened to Affinity Designer with nothing else open. Affinity Photo opens and runs normally.

I was converting a number of different image formats to jpg and wound up with several (too many?) graphics programs open at the same time. When I tried to open Affinity Designer, it crashed halfway through opening. Got the new logo up and the panels flickered a bit then boom! Gone. Closed everything else, tried again. Crash. Repaired permissions. Restarted. Crash. Deleted Designer. Downloaded and installed anew. Crash. Zapped PRAM. Crash. This is part of the crash log sent to Apple. Any ideas on what I can do next?

I really don't understand why Media Browser is not included under the File Menu which is where I think most people, especially newbies, would expect to find something like that. It is, of course, a View-er but still... It took me a while to discover it.

I'm really hoping for an eraser tool as good or better than iDraw's. When we get one, I can retire iDraw, like I (mostly) have Photoshop. For now, iDraw is the only way to get that effect when that's what I want or need. Not sure exactly what a distortion wrap tool is but I'd also love to have the equivalent of Painter's Distorto tool.

That will give you a straight line; it won't necessarily give you a level line. It's handy for certain things but we need the constrain option as well.

If "paint effect filter" means what I hope it does, it would be wonderful to have something like that from Affinity.
