  1. That's a great suggestion, ronny! I'm beginning to salivate thinking how much easier and faster that could be.
  2. I agree with MBd. Wherever possible, having the same feature...with the same activators!...in both apps would greatly reduce confusion, and frustration at times, for those of us who switch back and forth between the two.
  3. I agree with MEB. I'm a PSCS3 user also and I bought both Designer and Photo. Some things you need Designer for and for other functions, Photo is best. And the really nice thing is that you can get both for a fraction of what we spent on PSCS3.
  4. Yes, please combine these. It's confusing for those of us who move back and forth between Designer and Photo when a tool (unnecessarily) works differently in each.
  5. Since I don't use Illustrator, or Pixelmator, how Affinity's interface stacks up against theirs is of no import to me. What does matter is how easy it is for older, less-than-perfect eyes to differentiate between black and really dark gray. For those not having problems, I'm happy for you. For those of us who are, we mostly don't need advice to change things that we already know are not the source of our problems with a low-contrast interface. For what it's worth (which isn't a lot) I actually have Pixelmator and I don't use it, and prolly never will, because of the interface.
  6. Yes! That would be an easy way to apply a gradient to any brush.
  7. Any information on the inability of Designer and Photo to display their own files in Media Viewer? And if this was by design, are there any plans to add what would seem like a very basic feature?
  8. I was aware those keys were already assigned; I was just hoping that there would be an Option for the user to reassign them to something useful to the user. I may be misunderstanding just how user-assignable the shortcuts are. Can any or all of the others be changed to suit the user or are they all set in stone? There are a number of other pre-assigned shortcuts that are of less use to me than the ability to open/close individual panels would be. But that would require shortcuts for the individual panels rather than one command for the whole schmear. I'm aware that no developer can please everyone but the more Options for user-customization there are, the closer you come.
  9. It's great to have Custom Keyboard Shortcuts working in Mountain Lion. Thanks for fixing that, guys. Will there ever be Keyboard Shortcuts for the various Panels under Studio? I've followed Miguel's suggestion and have them arranged in single drawers. But it would be so much easier, faster, and smoother in terms of workflow to be able to enter a key command with my left hand and toggle the desired panel open full length. I know that there are a limited number of keystrokes possible but I have 9 panels that I use most often and 9 number keys that I do not use at all. (Cmd/0, I do use.) I would love the Option to assign those number keys to the Studio Panels that I use. Any hopes of that?
  10. No problem, Callum. I do that too. Cmd/Z is working fine now. And thanks for the help.
  11. Well, now it is, Miguel. Dunno' why it wasn't before. I was using the Edit menu that time, but that's working too now. Just a glitch, I guess. Thanks, everyone.
  12. Thanks, Callum, but I mentioned using History in my original question. I was wondering if there was another, easier way, like there is for other adjustments and effects.
  13. How do I remove a Style from an object if I decide I don't like the effect? Is there a way, other than opening History and going back past it there? Undo does not work. A right/click on the Style button offers Rename or Delete, which sounds like it would apply to the Style itself rather than the application of.
  14. Are you talking about an option that would automatically inpaint the missing areas? I agree that would be very handy. I currently use Clone to fill in blanks after a Straighten but that's not always a good solution.
  15. Miguel, the document was created with a transparent background which I later filled with black. It got accidentally shifted and I did some painting on it when I couldn't line it up to fill the canvas again. After fiddling with it for a bit, it seemed easier just to paint the edges in. Obviously I missed some. How it got to be a non-rectangular, I don't know. No shapes or objects were ever near the boundary and the paintbrush should not be able to go beyond the boundaries. Not important now and I'm just relieved to have it fixed. So thanks again for the help.
  16. Ahhhh! That did it. I had zoomed in once and filled in the bottom edge. Either didn't notice that one or didn't zoom in far enough. But it's fixed now. And I do thank you. It was driving me nuts because I couldn't find it. Didn't notice that fx on the BG layer. BTW, how do you remove a Style from a layer? Is the Undo tool the only way?
  17. Never mind. Got there. Or somewhere anyway. :) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10351644/Playing%20with%20Brush%20settings%20and%20colors.afphoto Forgot to answer your question. This is the only one that's happened with so far. I also had a hard time keeping the background in place while working on it. Maybe that contributed.
  18. I have an image with multiple layers, mostly vector but with a couple of pixel layers plus my black background layer is pixel. I exported to JPG and also to TIF. Everything looks fine in Affinity Photo but when I look at the JPG or the TIF in the finder or on my iPad...I have a 1 or 2 pixel white line along the right edge. I'm guessing on the size since the line can't be seen in Photo where it could be measured. I've tried the export several times, both with everything merged down and with it not. Still get the line. What is the problem here?
  19. Right. I have plenty of other apps that will show me jpg, tif, psd, svg, png. The only thing I have that will show .afphoto and .afdesigner is the Finder. Which was not meant to let me easily click between image folders while inside a graphics app.
  20. Please let us know. I can't imagine why it would not be designed to preview its own files. That seems like it would be the most common use for it.
  21. I was surprised to discover, looking back over the older ones, that I had apparently never submitted a Review. I'm sure I did Ratings, for both Designer and Photo. This time I did both for Photo and sort of slid a Designer plug in with it. For what it's worth, and I'm not sure how representative I am, when I'm considering a purchase I look at both old and new reviews and unless the new reviews are saying the app got worse, I'm as influenced by the old as the new.
