    Hello all,

Off the back of the new customer beta we've got two new videos! You'll need to grab the latest beta from here http://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/12638-affinity-photo-customer-beta-1351/ in order to follow these:

The Help video covers how to produce printable versions of topics, so if you've been wanting paper copies to refer to, give the video a watch!

This video no longer exists and the new one for Accessing Help 1.4 doesn't mention printable versions of topics.  Is that covered somewhere in Help itself?

  2. The videos are great.  Definitely make you want to buy if you didn't already own both.  The only drawback I found was the soundtrack for Affinity Photo.  The voices in the background in a couple of places was quite distracting.  I found myself paying more attention to what I was hearing than what I was seeing.  I wound up playing the video again with the sound muted.  Of course, I'm prolly just an oddball in that too.  But I'm definitely not an oddball in loving the new updates.  Great job, guys!

  3. Yes, please!  It would help a lot to be able to assign a shortcut to Clear Guides.  The current click-click-click method slows the workflow and creates a hiccup in the creative flow.  Not a huge deal but it's always nice when developers change a pita to a pleasure to use.

  4. Follow up:  I had cropped the original and the problem only occurred there.  Saved the file and brought it back in and Resize Canvas works correctly on it.  Not sure what I did or didn't do on the original but apparently the problem was me.

Resize Canvas is no longer working correctly.  Adding an equal number of pixels to both dimensions and clicking on Center applies the increase only to the vertical.

  5. I'm with Leigh i love the UI and while I get some people may want something different I think it's mostly overblown about how "bad" it is

If you have perfect vision, or even very good vision, then you have no means of determining how "bad" it is for those of us with older less-effective vision.  I, for one, cannot tell which of the tools in the first post is the active one and I've made all the adjustments in Preferences that we are allowed to make to compensate.

And like Ronnyb, I don't understand why Affinity is so reluctant to accommodate us by offering the option of a light or dark UI.  We can't change our vision; they can, if they are willing, offer us something we desperately need.

  6. But did you try this....With the desired color as primary in the Color Panel, open the desired Swatches panel and simply click on the little palette icon to the right of the name of your swatch set.  That will add the color to your swatches. Simple, quick, and easy. Hope this helps.

Affinity does a number of things in ways that are not what we are accustomed to using.  They work well but it can take a bit of effort to discover them sometimes. And usually someone has, and will be glad to respond so don't hesitate to ask if you have further questions.  :)

  7.

Being able to drag the colour from the Colour palette to the Swatches palette would be nice.

Hokusai, you don't need to drag anything.  With the desired color as primary in the Color Panel, open the desired Swatches panel and simply click on the little palette icon to the right of the name of your swatch set.  That will add the color to your swatches. Simple, quick, and easy. Hope this helps. :)

  8. No, Hokusai, I meant the Swatches palette.   If you simply click on the palette icon beside the name of the Swatches palette you want to add it to, it will add the color.  Try it.  Have the Swatches palette you want to add the color to open.  Click (not right-click, just click) on the desired end dot of the gradients...IN the gradient, not the gradient editor...then click (again, just click, not right-click) on the palette icon.  That's all you have to do.   :)

  9. Please consider adding user-defined Shortcuts for the individual Panels in Studio.  It would unclutter real estate for those of us with smaller screens (21" in my case) and save so much time now used in dragging panels in and out of the stack so that I can see ALL of the entries or options.  Rather than clicking on a (drawer?) to open it, scrolling to find the option or entry, then clicking to close it again, I could simply use my non-drawing hand to hit a key combo to open the panel full length, make my selection, and close it again with the shortcut to return to a full uncluttered work surface.  There are a number of functions/tools that I have little to no use for that I could use more productively for the Panels.  And no, turning the whole Studio On or Off does not solve the scroll problem.

To end on a more positive note, the work you have already done on Shortcuts is fantastic.  And we do appreciate all the time and effort you guys put into trying to make things as easy and smooth for us as possible.
