  1. You can always just type the command in the search field (it's in the help, top right drop down)

The results get highlighted, pretty fast and convenient :)

I'm sure it's just one more Mountain Lion issue but Search in Help has never worked for me.  No matter what term I enter, the gear just spins and spins.  I wind up opening Help and scrolling till I find what I need.

  2. I do this so seldom that I can't remember how to do it in Photo (or even if it's possible in Photo.)

In Photoshop, when creating a selection, I can drag to size it.  As long as I do not release the mouse, I can press Space to reposition it, then release Space and continue to size the selection.  As long as I don't release the mouse, I can go back and forth as many times as needed.  If this is possible in Photo, what is the correct modifier key?  I don't want to move what's contained in the selection at this point, I just want to reposition and/or resize the selection area.

In a related question, is it now, or will it ever be, possible to select the starting point of a selection?   For rectangles, starting at one corner as it does is fine but for a circle, it would be easier (at least for me) to position it properly the first time if one could specify the center as the starting point.

  3. Oy with the poodles already — I prefer for the developers to spend their time on fixing bugs and implementing new features. The UI works fine, even saves energy / battery.

I'm glad the UI works fine for you.  However, it does not work fine for a number of us who have less than perfect eyesight or who simply find that the most legible color combination is black on white.  We are not asking for a universal change, just the option to chose a light UI that works for us as well as the dark one does for those who prefer it.

  4. The original comments are very old (March 2015 and earlier) and were written when there was no Flatten command in AP. The topic stopped generating comments when the Flatten command was added to the Documents menu item so I think everyone understands where it is now.

Why would newbies or anyone else who's not needed it before now "understand where it is now"?  If there's any logic to putting a Layer Command under Documents instead of Layers, I fail to find it.  Things like this, small as they are, make it hard to get up to speed on a new program or on one that is constantly evolving and improving as this one is.

  5. I did a screen grab of the boys' faces and did a quick and dirty "fix" on that.  I mostly used the InPainting Tool set to a size only slightly larger than the individual segment of a blemish.  For a few areas, I used the Clone Tool with a low opacity and a Hardness of zero.  In addition I used the Burn tool set on Mid-Tones and 5% opacity to add a little definition to the boys' eyes.

Like I said, it's slow and tedious but it can be done with patience.  Or perhaps someone with a has a quicker easier method will chime in.

  6. Did you try the InPainting Tool?  In addition to it, I would use the Clone tool to select similar areas to the damaged ones on the children themselves and brush the individual corrections in using small increments.  Blemish removal should prolly work well enough on the background  Restoring old damaged photos is a tedious and time-consuming  and multi-step process.  Could you post the image so it can be downloaded?  That way some of us could show you what we would do.
