[Add operation between shapes and pencil strokes]

Hi there! I'm a beginner in illustration and graphic designing. I'm currently confused when I try to add a shape with a shape, they form a silhouette of the shapes. But when i try to add a shape with a pencil or pen stroke, they are not forming a silhouette of the shape and the stroke. Hope you guys can help me. Thanks in advance

hi guys! my alpha kufi regular doesnt work well. Every time I write " j " after " i ", my " i " and " j " will disappear. For example, I write " iJailbreak " and it becomes " ailbreak ". anyone got the same problem like mine?
