Do you have any of the third-party software installed that is known to cause issues with the Affinity suite?
A number of people recently have been reporting issues using RivaTuner, for example, but anything on that list can cause odd failures.

@Forssux Thanks for the link, hopefully one of the things they suggest to you actually works for me. However, my issue isn't having the software to install, it actually installs just fine. My issue is that Designer shuts down as soon as it starts running. Doesn't look like this is something happening to you, is it?
@haakoo It's great that you're a dedicated user and all, but I don't see you helping either Forssux or me here, just scolding at him/her, who is clearly frustrated. I am as well.
And yeah, you know what, if we are paying customers Serif should drop by and help if that was ever a possibility.
On that note, rather than trolling, do you have any valuable pointers on how to fix this issue anyhow?

They call it support I have another name for it.
I to have problems Starting the program after an update and this fear to upgrade is with Photo and designer.
 have a look at the things I tried... 
Sometimes installing a beta will let you run the beta, but not the stable version British Humor?

You know how in some vector editing programs (I use CorelDRAW) you can define a particular shape on the ends of a line?
 
For example, you create a line and then you can chose the shape you want on each end. See screenshot below of CorelDRAW.
 
I've looked all over the place in AD and I haven't found anything like this.
 
1. Is there something like this in AD that I am not aware of?
2. If not, would this be a feature worth recommending to the AD team?

You are buying a licence for version 1 so currently 1.5 with future releases of 1.6 and 1.7 etc containing fixes and new features are included in the price. There is a roadmap of features for version 1
 
One day we could do a version 2 (with 2.1 and 2.2 and 2.3 updates) you would need to pay again for version 2

please note that it is already implemented. Just uncheck Show text in points in the preferences and text sizes will be shown in document units …

Sometimes when I pull a guide and want it to snap to an object I have to unclick. click again on it and drag it, only by doing this will the guide snap.
 
Request: Make the guides snap right after pulling them out of the rulers.
 
Any plans on adding this functionality?

Sometimes when I'm editing nodes I try to pull a guide and it doesn't work, I have to press V to switch to the Pick tool, pull the guide, place it and press A to select the Edit Nodes tool again.
 
Too much work.

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
There isn't a similar function in Designer yet.
You may to try select and copy all objects (CTRL + C) then go to menu File ▸ New From Clipboard  (or press CTRL+ ALT+ SHIFT+N).
I´m moving this thread to the Feature Requests section.

i am missing this feature as well. makes it possible to resize (make them smaller) images quickly and save them in the smaller size. used this feature very often in fireworks.

Sign me in on that (and I also requested/suggested this feature already). Fireworks has “fit canvas” and “trim canvas”. Super useful; I’m using these very often.

In Fireworks there's an option called Fit Canvas which crops the canvas to fit the elements on it.
 
Is there an automated way to do the same thing in Affinity Designer? Or is this something that can only be done manually?

I'd love to be able to "resize canvas to selected objects"
or, perhaps even better, "create new from clipboard".
 
So far, that's my only missing feature...
