  1. I was so disappointed by the responses from Serif in this theme, and even more so when I purchased Affinity 2 only to find that they had made no effort to include the drag and drop feature in the new version. The poor workflow of having to go off into Explorer to find files to load, rather than to just drag and drop into a dialogue window must surely have been something to be addressed by the programmers. And to get a response such as "Hi - sorry this just is not a feature of the app. The developers are aware and so this is currently as deisgned [sic}" shows such an utter contempt for your customers that it scarcely can be believed. If you can program something as complex as this suite of programs, then you must be capable of coding in the drag and drop routine (indeed you make much of being able to do so into a frame in Publisher in one of your videos). So come on, let's have a bit of care for your customers, and not the crass programmer's response which seems to equate to 'I didn't do it because I didn't do it, and who cares about the customers anyway! I recall an earlier suggestion I made about drag and drop in one of the Serif suite programmes, and receiving the same dismissive response 'literally why would anybody want to do that'.
  2. Thanks for responses from Walt.Farrel, Dominik, and SirAnoke First, Walt. The method I used in PagePlus was very much more efficient than using frames. I compose pages of images, some cropped, some of different sizes for publication of scientific papers. These plates are often made up over weeks or even months, and may be changed frequently. Dragging and dropping into the already composed plate is by far the easiest way of changing my image. I tried frames, but they simply don't work in the same easy way. In any case, why take out an already excellent feature. Whilst it is likely that many people do like using frames, it is also likely that some might work the way I do, and even if nobody else likes it, I do. There is a good American aphorism 'If it aint bust, don't fix it', and that is very much apposite to computer programmers. Dominik, thank you. I had already found this, but it is really inconvenient when I have files in many hundreds of different subdirectories. I can find what I want much more easily from using my ThumbsPlus package without having to hunt for them in a dreaded Open File Dialogue'. The drag and drop was just a perfect way of doing what I wanted. SirAnoke, I did try converting the images to frames, and realised I could drag and drop, but this didn't really help because of the way I structure my plates. Thanks also for the tip about not rasterizing images. You are right about paracetomol, but what is intriguing is that I never needed it with PagePlus, but the new improved version gives me migraines, let alone simple headaches. There also was a great feature that has gone missing. On clicking an image in PagePlus, there is a little icon at the bottom 'replace image'. So easy. Why replace this with something on a context toolbar? The best context for such an icon is exactly where it was placed, attached to the image you want to replace. In the 'replace picture' action, the filename of the image I am replacing appears already filled in. I use this to check the file name of images from my microscope, before replacing it with the relevant scale bar file. With a page of many different images at several different magnifications, this allowed me then to go replace a copy image in the workspace (not on the plate) with the relevant graticule image, so I can then construct the scale bar correctly. Having lost this (another feature that, whilst not relevant perhaps to many, was relevant to me) lost - another non-bust thing that has been 'fixed', I guess. I apologise for complaining, but I had been awaiting Publisher for a long time, and purchased it immediately when it became available. Thank you all once more for your input.
  3. In PagePlus, I was able to set up my image page by making multiple copies of my first image. I could then just drag and drop replacement images into them. It seems this facility has gone now with Affinity Publisher. This was so important to my workflow, that I guess I will just have to revert to PagePlus to do my work. Can you please add this facility into Affinity?
  4. Could we please have the Align panel back on the Studio. In Serif Publisher, this was really useful for me and saves a lot of time clicking through menus. I tried to find a way of adding it, but I'm not clever enough. Thank you.
  5. Thanks again, walt.farrell. All understood now. I thought I had seen a convert to Picture Frame somewhere, but was looking in the wrong place.
  6. Thanks, haakoo and walt.farrell. This works. I still don't quite understand why it can't work the old way (saves messing about making frames of the right dimensions), but anyway, I can live with it. Or it might be nice to just add an image and then be able to convert it to a frame (probably something that is available already, but can't find it).
  7. Thank you haakoo, but this is not what I need. I have a page with, images for publication in a scientific journal. These all must be the same dimensions (native from camera), and could come from half a dozen different directories on my hard disk. I just add one, then copy it as many times as I need. Then I need to be able to go directly to explorer (I have instances of this open for each subdirectory I need) and drag an image to simply replace the ones I wish to change. This works wonderfully on Serif Publisher, but not at all in Affinity Publisher (or at least, not the way I am trying to do it in the same manner as I can in Serif Publisher). See the quick example attached. Would gradually be built up by dropping appropriate images right on top of the place holding image. D&D images Serif Publisher.pdf
  8. In Serif Publisher, I was able to set up a page with multiple images, and then drag and drop replacement images into them as I needed. In Affinity Publisher, this no-longer works, and I have to go to 'replace image' and then be confronted with having to find the image I need in an file explorer type interface. This takes a lot of time, especially as I often have need for images from more than one subdirectory, whereas drag and drop from one or more directories open in explorer is efficient and very satisfactory. Also, when clicking on an image in the Serif product, I was given the option of 'replace picture'. This isn't there on the Affinity product. Can this be implemented somhow? I cannot find it anywhere when searching the various help options.
  9. Yes, agreed very much. Those of us who have been very loyal Serrif users (for decades!) should not be forgotten. I am really surprised that you did not think of this right from the start, especially given the similarity of design and layour of your new Publisher. It means those of us with legacy documents that might be very important will have to maintain PagePlus and the new Publisher. So please don't just put this on the backburner, but get on and implement it.
  10. Nothing will load after installin 1.5.0.7. All I get is a complete black screen. The loaded layers show in the window to the left, but nothing can be done. Even a new document just gives me a complete black screen. Not a lot of good.
