  1. Thanks Patrick! I think the problem has been solved - it never occured since I upgraded to Affinty Designer Ver. 2.2.0! Many thanks for so great apps!👏
  2. Hi there! Thanks for your reply. I created the gradient in Modo but the rendering preserved the transparency so when I opened it in Affinity Designer 1, it looked good. Re. your question: I dragged the file onto Affinity Designer 2 on PC - in other words I 'opened' the file and the issue was present only when 'opening' not 'placing' the bitmap. I previously used the workaround with 'placing' it into a document which is great after all - thanks for mentioning it as well! Of course it is the quickest solution so far! I played with the alpha channel in Affinity Photo but it is a bit tricky! Anyway it would be great to have the funcionality from Affinity Designer 1 brought back in Affinity Designer 2! Thanks, Alex
  3. Hello everybody! I'm having a problem with opening TIFF files with transparency (rendered in Modo application, both 8-bit or 16-bit versions with alpha channel). When I drag and drop these onto Affinity Designer app, a full background is seen - as below: Sometimes (very rarely) the TIFF file (a 16-bit version) can be opened with full transparency present but I can't see any logic when it occurs: A similar issue has been raised and posted on the Affinity Photo 2 forum and it may be the same problem I guess: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/177248-black-background-when-open-a-transparent-tif-file-which-was-rendered-from-blender/#comment-1020204 I'm attaching the two TIFF files for further tests. If anyone has the same observation please add your comments. I use PC with Windows 10 and had no problems with transparent TIFFs when worked in the preceding version of Affinity Designer. I'd appreciate if this could be added to the next list of patches Affinity Designer app is my main design tool and I've been using it for the last 6 years. Thanks, Alex test_render_8bit.tif test_render_16bit.tif
  4. Hi folks, I've been using Affinity Designer & Photo on PC for two years and both became main apps of my choice for graphic design, drawing illustrations and photo editing. I abandoned Adobe CC and didin't regret my decision! Thanks a lot for all your efforts – at Serif and on the forum – and keep my fingers crossed for a new version to come. There are really great tools in Designer but I found something that I'd love to find improved someday. When working with vector brushes in Draw Persona it's impossible to identify what brush is selected for a particular vector object. It's not highlighted in the Brushes Panel so finding the right one is a real problem, especially when working with 100+ of very similar looking brushes (eg. Grave Etcher by RetroSupply). I know it's easy to copy attributes from one object to another but I still can't figure out what brush name is selected. It would be great if one of the following is implemented: - show active brush highlighted in the Brushes Panel when particular vector object is selected or - show the active brush name in the Brush Properties window (it is actually present when you select particular brush in the Brushes Panel and start drawing – see attached picture A – but if you change object that has another vector brush and open the Brush Properties window (see picture B) the name is gone. Is anybody experiencig the same and perhaps you'd love to share how you deal with it?
  5. Thanks for your explanation here. Now I understand why the AI file was posted:) I've been looking at AD for some time and I love its functionality. I've got some issues with generating PDF files though (the fonts are always converted into outlines despite the fact I switch it off before exporting) but I'm sure this will be sorted in next public beta. And of course the most important thing is to find a real alternative to Adobe CC. Alex
  6. I agree with you Tom! :) I simply checked the AI file in CC if it was correct. I'd like to say goodbye to Adobe one day! Thanks, Alex
  7. Hi FPilou, I opened your file in Adobe Illustrator CC and saved it is as AI CS5 and AI CC. Please try to open these in Affinity Designer (see attached). They look fine for me. Best regards, Alex testaffy_cs5.ai testaffy_cc.ai
  8. Hello guys! I'm new to this forum. Thanks for the PC version of Affinity Designer, I appreciate your hard work and efforts to bring such a great software to PC. During my last tests of Public Beta Version 1.5.0.5 I had problems with exporting stuff as PDF – there was no way to embed fonts, the texts seem to be converted into vectors every time I export PDF (even if I choose 'Embed Fonts' or 'No Fonts' in export settings panel). Has anybody the same issue? Greetings to all Affinity users! :) Alex
