  1. Ah, that seems to be it although, unless I am mistaken, you don't get the Lock Children option if the object is a text object. I had to delete the mask then rasterise the layer, reload the selection from a spare channel, create the mask, choose the move tool, choose lock children, then it works. If I tried to rasterise the layer without deleting the mask first it rasterised the mask too. Complex stuff!
  2. Thanks. If I do that I can move the mask but I want to move the content and NOT the mask. Does that make sense? I can't seem to select just the content layer without the mask layer being selected too. I tried turning off the mask to no avail.
  3. Hi all, take a look at the attached. I have created that text and masked it to Ales's head. Now I would like to move the text a bit without changing the mask so that it still deletes the area behind his head. In PS I would just select the text and move it but I can't seem to make that happen in Photo (see second screenshot). Can someone help? This ought to be traightforward, surely? Thanks. Phil
  4. I jumped ahead a few! I hope you don't mind. You have inspired me to try stuff out.
  5. Would it be possible to add a Close All option to the File menu? PS has it and I often find it useful when I have a lot of images open. When I go into Crop tool, it is always set to 'unconstrained' and I have to change it back to original proportions which is, 99% of the time, what I want. Could that be a preference?
  6. I'm not sure what you mean by ;what happens'. There would be a lot of threads with pictures of work. Why would that be a problem?
  7. Without wanting to get into a flame war I have to ask why you care. You don't have to look at this thread and I, for one, enjoy getting notifications when Brian uploads a new image and see no reason at all why he should share files if he doesn't want to.
  8. I need to go take a look! And of course, I'm sure you're right about Yahoo. The same could be said of Facebook, Google, Amazon et cetera et cetera. We all dance with the devil or some such!
  9. I use Smugmug for all my photo sharing with clients (I am a photographer by profession) as well as having made my site through their system. I love them dearly and they have the greatest Help desk I have ever come across. I have loved Flickr since 2003 and have never received any spam or had any problem with them when they're under Yahoo or now that there owned by Smugmug. I also used to always use Yahoo mail and that worked very well too. I understand that my personal experience does not negate bad behaviour which others have experienced. I just thought I'd mention it!
  10. Oh wow, you guys and guyettes made my day! The V thing, while not perfect, is really great. Thanks a lot. Now, the right click on a swatch... that would still be great.
  11. Hi all, I am slowly switching to Designer after years of using CorelDRAW and I am thus finding all these great features in CDR that I would love to have in Affinity suite that speed up workflow. I may add more but here's one. In CDR, if I am using a tool such as a the Text tool (or any other) the tool pick is 'sticky' so, if I click and type a word then click somewhere else I can type another word (it doesn't act as a one off tool, if you see what I mean, so I can type as many text elements/draw as many boxes etc as I want. On the other hand, pressing Ctrl+space takes me directly to the select (pick) tool so I can move things about. Hitting Ctrl+space again takes me back to the last used tool. This is incredibly useful for moving between a tool and the pick tool at speed. Could this be incorporated? The other one I love in CDR is this. If I left click on a swatch it will fill the selected item. If I right click on a swatch it will apply the color as an outline. This too is genius! Could we maybe have that too? Affinity is so much faster and smoother than CDR and I want to use it for everything so I want to slowly make you make it like CDR! Anyway, let me know what you think. Phil
  12. It may be a small group that will whither on the vine but who knows? My in game Grand Theft Auto photo page still thrives 4 years later!
  13. Hi all, not sure if there will be any interest in this since Flickr isn't as popular as it once was but I have set up a group there this morning, for sharing work. Primarily for Designer and Publisher but Photo would be welcome too. You can find the group at https://www.flickr.com/groups/affinitysuite/ Currently the icon and cover photo are my images but I hope those will change if/when we get some members and content! I know that in some ways it's a duplicate of this secxtion of the forums but it has the advantage of allowing a gallery look to the images. Hope there might be some interest in this! Phil
  14. For the top one, draw one line, CTRL and drag to make a duplicate at the point of the second line then Ctrl+J to repeat that duplication and location over and over. Then, for a diagonal one, make the lines more and longer than you need, selct them all and rotate by 45 degrees. Draw a box and make it either transparent or whiet and with no border. Select all the lines and drag in the layers palette until they appear inside the box. Make sense?
  15. I just didn't want to get on anyone's ass about what I know is a beta! It's looking REALLY good, by the way.
  16. Damn it, It IS Publisher. I'm an idiot! Sorry to send everyone into a flurry! I was only initially adding it as I thought it was funny!
  17. To quote Manuel from Fawlty Towers, "Heventwally". I am at work but will try to check when I get home.
  18. It is indeed Designer on Windows. Clicking on it takes me to a topic (I forget what the topic was and am at work right now) so I think you just need to add a title ('How To Do Five Question Marks In A Line' might work).
  19. Is this any better? Thanks for sticking with me!
