Some people have a disability detecting colours
Ali replied to William Overington's topic in Resources
The colours you chose are not gentle - they are extremely harsh. They are not muted. No, because they complement each other. The colours you chose DO produce a strange visual effect: where they meet, there is the dizzying strobe effect I mentioned. Can you not see it yourself? The edges of the letters appear to move. Here's one of MANY online resources: https://brightside.me/article/the-ultimate-color-combinations-cheat-sheet-92405/ The outer two rings are where you will find the more muted, 'peaceful' tones. The middle ring is where the brighest, harshest colours are - avoid those. Mmm ... I'm not going to pursue this. I know from bitter experience it would be pointless (and I'd end up frazzled). -

You chose two colours with what I would call fluorescence. They clash. Find a colour wheel and choose more muted complementary colours. I could suggest thousands of pairings, but it's your choice. Pedantry, William! It was YOU who raised it here in this thread. -

@William Overington As you have raised the issue, the choice of colour in your Christmas card causes a sort of strobing effect that would induce a headache if looked at for too long. I appreciate the sentiment in the card, but the colours are all wrong. -

You talk about wanting to learn from members whose skills are beyond yours, yet you have given no indication of the level you are at. Perhaps if you show people what you have achieved, then they can gauge whether or not they can assist. I really don't know what "showcasing the wares of AD fabulously" is meant to convey. Bottom line: as long as you are not offering to pay anyone or promote yourself through this, then you are OK. Why not simply answer that question to put our minds at ease?

I am a moderator on another forum. All forums are plagued by unwelcome visitors (spammers and phishers). So what is it you want to know? OK - forget my question, then. As stated above, there are no plans to produce a printed manual.

Yes, it seems this file is corrupted. You will need to go back to the latest backup you have from before the corruption occurred. -
Artwork inspired by Pantone colour of the year 2022

I may be wrong, but I think that Don McLean's song is actually called 'Vincent'. -

I thought right at the outset that it would be Van Gogh's Starry Night - surely I wasn't right??? -

No - haven't even looked. Not top of my list of priorities, William. -

That's what I thought - I think William has been subliminally influenced by Cadbury. -
Olympus RAW-files are not displayed correctly
Ali replied to Dietmar Görtzen's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
That won't happen for you: you are allowed to test the software only once. I have opened and developed your .ORF file and see no such line. Furthermore, I use Olympus RAW myself and have never seen the phenomenon. -
OK, thanks.

Very nice! Can I ask a very loosely related question? How do you transfer your RAW files from the iPhone to your Mac?

@Hens The fact that you keep post-editing your posts is making it really hard to follow this thread. Can you ADD information instead of CHANGING it after people have replied?

Cat Joke?
Ali replied to MoonaticDestiny's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I'm still using it. Publisher is still missing some basic features (for me), so I'm not ready to move to it yet. I've been with Serif since PP v.1.0, and was wearing a Serif T-shirt when I gave birth to my daughter - that's commitment for you!!! -
Cat Joke?
Ali replied to MoonaticDestiny's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Newer Serif followers will not know that at the very beginning, the Serif PagePlus logo was a tiger. Their 'affinity' with cats, big and small, is long-lived. Did you see what I did there???
