Have you ever thought about creating a list of persons based on a table of contents? In Affinity Publisher you can create several different directories for different purposes. The functionality you want is available.

Standard shortcut Ctrl+E does not work

U p d a t e : No idea if this information is useful for anyone: - It does not work with the on-screen keyboard either. - Ctrl+Q also results in "Ctrl+C". -
Standard shortcut Ctrl+E does not work
Michail replied to Michail's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
It's crazy: if I remove the shortcut and want to redefine it, I can't do that anymore. If I press the keys Ctrl+E, "Ctrl+C" always appears in the input field (Ctrl+C also results in "Ctrl+C"). This is also the case in the English version (see screenshot). -
The shortcut for the command "Merge down" does not work for me (Ctrl+E). This is strange because this key assignment is displayed in the settings. The shortcuts Ctrl+Shift+E and Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E work fine. Can anyone confirm this?

Selection Marquee scaling blurs selection edges
Michail replied to Devil_Inside's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
I can reproduce this (also in the beta). The scaled selection seems to be OK, because if you fill it with a colour, the edges stay sharp. Only when you copy the selection content (e.g. with Ctrl+J into a new layer) does it happen. This is very strange! Workaround: Create a vector shape (e.g. a rectangle). You can scale this as you like. Load the vector shape as a selection: To do this, hold down the Ctrl key and click on the layer thumbnail of the vector layer. You can then hide the vector layer and keep it in case you need it again. I don't know your specific case, but it may help you until the error is fixed. -
1.9.0 seems very buggy and keeps crashing
Michail replied to biomed32uk's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
This may be due to the hardware acceleration that is activated by default. -
What about masking layers, adjustment layers and layer effects ? None of this has anything to do with Studio Link and would not be possible without the existing layer concept. It's nice that you have dealt with the subject so extensively. For me personally, it wasn't necessary, because that was a rhetorical question ("?!").
-
But I do. It seems to me that you would like to have the global levels as the sole concept. Is this assumption correct? Surely you have your reasons for that. I suspect that this is what you need for your work and nothing else. But I would like the present layer concept to be retained - supplemented by the global layers. The layer concept in Affinity gives the designer a lot of leeway. The one-dimensional and archaic layer concept in ID forces the user to do almost all image and graphics editing outside ID. Perhaps, if your time permits, you could think outside the box. What is the value of this statement?! None of us is free of (Adobe-) imprints. Personally, I don't really care what it's technically called - if it allows me great creative freedom. Create a layer in Affinity Publisher and you have a layer. Don't create a layer and you don't have a layer, but unbound objects. What's the problem?! At most, this is complicated for the programmers. We only have to operate the panel 😎

Imagine Serif creates a second master page panel. But Serif don't call it master pages, they call it global layers. The appearance is similar to the layers panel, and the functions are efficiently abbreviated (for example, fade in and fade out). The layer panel could then be divided into two parts (global layers on top, layers below). Done. The whole thing is based on the symbols. The symbol functionality is already there: In Affinity Designer they are actually called symbols, in Affinity Photo they are called linked layers (if I am not mistaken) and in Affinity Publisher they are called master pages.

Release the shift key only after you have released the mouse button.

lens correction too limited scales
Michail replied to NotMyFault's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
I don't know why the ranges of values mentioned have been restricted. I just wanted to show you an alternative. I see the "lens correction" as a correction option for photographers for whose lens-camera combination no profile exists, or who additionally need a slight correction. You then do everything else in the Photo Persona. But perhaps a moderator will comment on the reasons.- 4 replies

lens correction too limited scales
Michail replied to NotMyFault's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
I would not call deviations of more than 10 degrees a correction, but image editing. You can use the Crop tool . To do this, use the "Straighten" button in the context bar.- 4 replies

Mockups work in Affinity Photo:
-
I have made a small example to illustrate this. Click on one of the two flower layers and then on the button "Edit document" in the context bar . Everything you do in the original affects all instances of the picture. If you want to replace the image, do that here too. Mockup.afphoto

If you place an image in a proprietary format (e.g. .afphoto or .psd), you can create as many copies as you like (Ctrl+J) and modify them. If you want to edit all instances together or exchange them for another image, do so in the original (double-click on an instance or click on button "Edit document"). You do not need the layer links for this.

May I ask what the reason is that you would like that? The purpose of the artboards is to store multiple (vector) graphics within a project. From my point of view, this does not really make sense in connection with pixel graphics.

Ah, now I understand what you mean. Maybe it's a Mac-Windows thing. This is what the Ritson-picture looks like on my computer:

You have combined a layer with the layer below it by applying a blend mode. What did you expect?

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. So it's not my technique then. I only discovered this in the release. Do you know if this worked in one of the betas? Addendum: Size and file format don't seem to matter. Maybe someone can merge these two threads.

Thank you Mark! What kind of document should it not be? Hardware acceleration is deactivated.

The new live filter Liquify is practically unusable for me. Changes are displayed very slowly, delayed and jerky. I'm not sure if it's the implementation or my slightly older graphics card. Have others here also had this experience? In the Liquify persona, the software behaves normally.
