Thats what I said hehehe. Maybe my english is not that good. I said to "make another tool instead of putting them inside of AD".
Sry, i went through that very quickly. I ve thought you suggest add this features into Personas. Probably mb. Btw, my english is terrible so...

I disagree. I think affinity designer will fit well as an alternative to so many kinds of apps including prototyping tools, mostly due to their user experience. Its just been always missing some fundamental features of each to completely replace them. I think they know that too since they mentioned they’re working on it. Although, AFTER 2.5 YEARS OF PATIENCE an update on if they are still working on something like that would be nice.
My personal bet is they will try to get closer to Ai as much as possible instead of focusing on webdesign features. There is simply less high quality competitors in vector graphics than in webdesign/prototype branch. Design/Prototype is too much competitive field to play right now (XD, Sketch, Figma, Framer, Invision Studio, Axure, UXpin, Justinmind, Supernova Studio, ProtoPie and many others).

More I think about it.
Maybe the best could be more another tool instead of putting too much features into one tool. That's what I like most about Affinity it is more intuitive and lighter than Adobe tools. Less submenus to find features. What you need is more upfront. I really like the persona aspect of the Affinity tools.
I am more and more interested in digital 2D art and design. And I think what could be nice is a tool that incorporate some kind of "light versions" of After Effects (only for motion design and playing with 3D camera with 2D assets, for parallax effects for instance) not the whole thing, of Spine for Skeletal, FreeForm and adding a frame by frame features for animation and finally something like Anima a plug-in for Sketch or InVisionStudio for the prototyping features.
Imagine that an Affinity tool had like 3-4 personas; the first is for animation and motion (like I said a merge maybe of light versions of After Effects and Spine), another persona for Prototyping and maybe another one a light version of Resolve or Final Cut just to make some kind of editing for 2D arts/animations.
Could be nice, it could complete a nice 2D pipeline. More and more GIFS and prototypes are uses for UX design and to transmit informations to colleagues and customers. Could be nice to make our own not Disney heavyweight movies, but just have our own little studio or even being able to export those interactions and animations in game engine like Unity or Unreal or GameMaker etc.
I am only putting this in the suggestions box.I guess its too feature heave weight to add into an AD. If they gonna do that (i highly doubt about it), they will create standalone app for it.

Guys I think we can assume 2.5 years later that affinity are not seriously pursuing the features that have been suggested
Just use sketch instead, that's what I did. I do still like affinity but I'd say that the only thing I really miss in sketch is affinity's export feature.
Sketch has prototyping
Better component organisation.color & text styles linking- I see there is now good text style support and simple global color linking capability
Plugins that generate style guides from your whole document
Many other handy plugins
Data importing - "fake data", images, API calls, names, addresses etc
Plugins that help you to easily get the css or html of a component.
export to many programs such as Zeplin, framr, Adobe aftereffects etc
Affinity should really get on top of the atomic designer / design system / component methodology. 2 whole industries will love you for it (designers / frontend developers)
Affinity Designer wasnt meant as a webdesign solution. It should replace Illustrator, so it implies a software for creating vector graphics, not a competitor to Sketch/AdobeXD/Figma. I usually use Figma/XD for layout/content/prototyping and AD for creating illustrations etc..

This version of AD crashes more often then previous one i guess. Its usually down when i try to pick a color by color picker. Unfortunatelly, i am not able to reproduce this when i want to capture it. But its little bit annoying. Luckily i havent lost any progress due to autosave, so its not a critical issue for me. If i experience this again, i will send you that naughty .afdesign for sure

Guys, calm down. I have never said that feature with most votes should be mandatory to implement. Its a hint what community most starve for. I think the flag system i mentioned shows that the final choice is always on developers because they could flag any feature as "not planned". Are we ok?
-
Hi Affinity,
due the huge amount of feature requests, i think it would be nice to have some voting platform like guys from webflow (https://wishlist.webflow.com/?sort=popular) or many others to give a some sort of awareness of what features community starve for the most. I think the vote system and ability to see the most wanted features could bring a little bit more clarity for community as well as developers. If you add flags like (planned, not planned, considering, in dev etc.), it could work as a kind of roadmap as well. What do you think?

If you're just using APh files for storage, not for applying adjustments and filter effects, you can put each image on its own layer and then Alt-click on that layer in the Layers panel to view it in isolation.
It´s obvious, but why i need a template file or create it? Only difference between Photo and Designer is a checkbox "Use artboards" in creating new project and a tool in toolbar. Everything else Photo can do, so i ask: What is the reason to not have this feature allowed natively in Photo if it knows how to work with artboards? It´s absurd.I have bought both Photo and Designer, but Photo only owners needs to make a research on google how to allow artboards and find forum where is artboard teamplate or someone can say "There is no way to use artboards in Photo so fck off i will stay with Ps". Just add the checkbox to Photo and you will save a lot of time to users and you can promote this modern feature as well.

Hi MarjysUz,
Welcome to the Forums
Artboards are an exclusive Designer feature. Affinity Photo is a RAW converter/developer and photo editing app. It's not intended to be used for graphic/web/ui design where artboards are commonly used. Although Photo does recognize them it's not possible to create them there.
Thanks
C
I understand you designed Photo to be one image bitmap editor, but i would definitely like to have artboards even in Photo, because i often create banner groups for ad systems like adwords andn sklik.cz (czech republic only), which means i have to make about 15 different banner compositions and i have to do them in PsCC. Affinity Designer is not a good enviroment due to lack of bitmap tools, masking etc. In case i postprocess some photo, i use artboards as well - i have 2 or 3 of them with same image but different effects and there i am able to easily compare which way is better etc. Artboards are definitely useful even in Photo. Pls, try to rethink the possibility to add them there.
EDIT: I know i can create artboard file in Designer, but it´s still a workaround and people who dont need Designer needs to purchase it to be able to use artboards. Kinda weird.

I would appreciate it as well since the Adobe XD is under subscription.

Oh, they have already 1.6.0 retail? Ok, i didn´t know

1.6.1.90 is a unexpected big jump in versions. Shouldn´t be this new one 1.6.0.90?

I was able to reproduce this issue only in pixel persona. If you need to move the viewport, use middle mouse + drag, its faster imo.
-
Yep, i think it works
-
This doesnt work for me. You have to hold CTRL and ALT, then hold LMB and RMB and after this torture you are finally able to drag mouse up/down or left/right to adjust size and hardness. Guys, really, i am not a Goro. Pls change this to something more user friendly. In Ps its enough to hold ALT+RMB and drag both axis. Much better solution and this "shortcut" is not used in Photo if i am not wrong.

I don´t think its that easy. I tried to open 6 small images and i have 4xi7, so 8 threads.
-
I forgot to say that sometimes designer openes those files immediatelly with no problems and with same scenario - exactly the same files, few moments later.
-
Hello Affinity,
i found an issue. When i try to open multiple images in same time (f.e. 6 images), the designer .82 freeze and there is info about "opening 6 files", but nothing happens. CPU load is above 90%. I tried to let it work for about 1 minute, but designer opened nothing. Those files are .jpg (saved from Ps for web), about 2Mpx resolution, hundreds Kb each, so relatively small images (newsletter designs in my case). I attached screenshot captured in progress of opening.

I hope you have it backed up somewhere
-
Meantime you can use global colors for that UI background (leftbar, navbar and content) and for that white navbar with shadow try to use "styles". You can globally change color settings by this way although not the dimensions. But if you are satisfied with dimensions, it should be no problem for now.

Ok. I will email that file. I´ve been able to reproduce that bug several times. Looks like there is an issue with constraints. If i align by constraints the nested elements in rectangle which i try to put into the third artboard, i am not able to save that file, Designer will crash and file is corrupted (or something else is broken).

Hmm, i am not convinced about animations, or more precisely vfx. What i know, there is definitely a opportunity to make a animation software for using in mobile devices. There is literally no SW obtain in high-fidelity mobile animation. You have to use AE with Lottie or projects like Haiku.ai to do that. Or i dont know any other AE competitors at least. This could be a way to sell another software solution (or Persona) filling the hole in the market and expand the workflow of existing SW to another trendy way.
