I was out of this forum for a while, but I had to come back after the email we all received.
So much political language, when was the last time a politician kept his word. Look at all these acquisitions over time, all the bought companies have disappeared for the benefit of the buyer. Remember, money rules the world, and every man has his price. The primary goal of Canva is to make profits.

I wouldn't say it got slower when they tried to optimize for the M chips. I used Affinity apps on Mac and PC for quite a long time, and overall, the three apps were much faster in the past. It looks like with each newer version apps get slower to start and slower to run. But they have to make them compatible with so many hardware on the PC, and each new versions have new functionality and features, it's probably normal.

Allow me to be clear: any user is welcome to post here on the Affinity forums.
We do not keep track of our users professional intents, knowledge or experiences.
We openly welcome newcomers and professionals alike to provide their personal opinions and feedback for the Affinity apps - as we are all simply users of the Affinity suite.
No user is greater than another because of their personal experiences or professional history.
Every retail customer pays the same amount for an Affinity license, and therefore all are equal users, who all have the equal right to voice their thoughts and feelings when using the Affinity apps.
I ask that you stop insinuating, or directly referring to other users experiences, knowledge or professional qualities. This is not for you to judge here on the Affinity Forums, and should not minimise or belittle another users wishes or intents for the Affinity apps.
This forum is not a commune, it is a website owned by a private company, where the Affinity team controls the rules by which you all must abide.
If you do not like following our rules, we ask that you do not post to the forums. Continued or flagrant breaking of these rules will result in forum membership being terminated.
Much akin to other users, we welcome your feedback and criticism of the Affinity apps.
We do not welcome direct criticism of other users, or of their personal feedback.
It is not for our users to decide what is right or wrong for other users to post, or suggest for the Affinity apps - though of course you are welcome to voice your disagreement with their suggestions, should it negatively impact your workflow or if other potential options may improve their original idea, for example.
We are not looking to create an exclusionary, homogenous group - but we are looking to create a safe space for all Affinity users.
This thread was started by a relatively new user to the forums, who has every right to share their feedback when using the Affinity apps, and request changes they'd like to see in the app.
Personally, I feel Erno is deserved of an apology - as their thread was overtaken with discussions not related to their feedback, partly not even directly related to the Affinity apps themselves.
I'm sorry that after sharing their feedback and engaging with other users about their workflows, that the thread was overrun with such negativity and personal criticisms.
This is not what the Affinity forums are designed for, and will not be tolerated further.
Again, this is not to say that criticism of the Affinity apps is not valid or welcome here, but we do ask that the criticism remains constructive and threads remain on-topic.
If you wish to discuss the hiring practices of the Affinity team, the design decisions made by the developers or our marketing teams campaigns for how the app is sold - then you should begin your own thread on the subject.
Other users, and the Affinity team, may even be willing to engage in conversation regarding your points raised.
Brigading on another users thread, not related to the above meta commentary, is unhelpful and in my opinion leaves a bad impression on the original poster of the feedback/question - who likely wanted to provide their valued feedback to help improve the Affinity apps, and not much more.
This bad impression might not only cause this user not to return to the forums, but also may dissuade users from posting in the future - neither of which is acceptable in my opinion.
This is why we ask that threads are kept on-topic, so that the user is free to discuss the points they wanted to raise with the Affinity team, or other forum members, in a relaxed and safe environment.
The above does not only go for this thread, or you as a user.
Many threads here on the forums have begun trending in a similar direction as this one, so I wish to make the above very clear to all users of the Forums, new and old.

New version! I have uploaded a new version of this unofficial Publisher manual to the first post of this thread. In addition to being updated for the changes in Publisher 2.3, this version covers character and paragraph formatting, text styles, and all the other text-related features. It is 120 pages longer than the original version.
Although it's written for Publisher, most of the text features are the same for Designer or Photo so you may find it useful for the other Affinity applications, too.
    Cheers

AlainP reacted to Ash in 2.3.0 to be released this morning!
    Hi All,
I’m pleased to say that we will be pushing 2.3 live to retail this morning. The beta versions were updated yesterday to the same build (2.3.0.2165) as detailed in Patrick’s post here. This means the beta versions are in effect exactly the same as the retail versions we will push so you can keep them installed if you wish.
As always it’s been a pleasure working with you all on this release and cannot thank you enough for all the bug reports and other feedback you have given. I mentioned at the start of this beta we are working towards a shorter cadence between updates to help us release improvements and bug fixes sooner - and I hope you agree this has worked very well.
With that in mind we will be starting 2.4 beta very shortly (hopefully in just a couple of weeks). Looking forward to seeing you all on here for that!
    Thanks again,
    Ash

It does not make sense at all. All other apps ask before closing when you've done some edit on the file. Even Designer ask before closing any file if you did some kind of edit.
Photo does not ask unless you clicked on "Develop" .... no way it should work like this. It's a programming error easy to fix.

Yes it's the same when you don't make any change. But here I edited the RAW file so it should ask if I want to cancel the modifications I made before closing. If you click on the "Develop" button at the to left it then will ask you before closing the file.
When opening a JPG file and edit something in it, It then does ask if I want to save my changes before closing. It should be the same with the RAW file.
If you open a RAW file in Designer it will ask your if you want to save your changes before closing, even if you don't edit it, as it applies some curves before displaying it. Photo does not.

AlainP got a reaction from gyalogosdesign in Af.design for IPAD PRO or AIR
I currently use two iPads. One is Gen 9 with Apple pencil 1, and an iPad Pro 12.9 inch with Apple pencil 2. Both have 256 GB and never had any problem at all with any of them using Affinity Photo, Designer and Publisher. I had a Gen 6 model, 256 GB a few years ago on which I only use Affinity Photo only and it was working very fine.
If I had to buy another one some day I would probably go with the 11 in pro or probably the Air, enough powerful and a little less expensive. These days apps and data files take a lot of space so 256 GB should be the minimum. But I could not use these without iCloud and OneDrive for file storing as I work with a PC, a MacBook and iPads.

All you have to do is put a check mark in "Apply to All" and it will set up automatically the same shortcut for all tools like Paint Brush, Eraser, Clone Tool, Inpainting Brush, etc. It takes less that 10 seconds and it's done. Much less time than to write on this forum.
Now if you don't want to setup any shortcut.. it's up to you.

Why don't you just remap it like I've been doing using a French Canadian Kbd.

It's getting weirder.... now all files I create in any Affinity app don't have that flag turned on anymore.... and I just do what I did this morning....
More research.... I think I found out why it was working this morning and not now. This morning I saved the files and reopened them minutes later to do some more work on them.
What I found out is that when I save the file the first time the archival bit is not set. And when you reopen it and save it again it's then set correctly.

    Hi All,
We have just made 2.2 live across all App Stores and our website. As always, the feedback we have received from you all during this beta has been an incredible help in both shaping the new features as well as squashing many bugs!
The build we have released is the same as RC3 (build 2005), meaning for the time being whether you use the latest beta version or switch to using the release version they are the same. If you anticipate taking part in the next beta you may wish to keep your current beta version installed, as this will be updated on auto update when a new beta is available. This will either be a 2.2 patch if we feel one is needed, or moving straight onto a 2.3 beta.
It would be impossible for us to do what we do without your support, and I just wanted to say a huge thanks for everything you have contributed to this release.
    All the best,
    Ash
