  1. I'm amazed that there's no simple way of drawing a straight line -- as distinct from a curved one. PagePlus had this feature, which is incredibly useful. Could it be added, please?
  2. Many thanks, Ray. You're right. Problem sorted. I'm not sure how the move to greyscale came about, as the doc was in colour when I started on it. But it's the end result that counts, so thank you again!
  3. Sometimes, with a document open, I find my colour palette greyed out, robbing me of the ability to apply colour to any objects in the document. It's not a graphics-card issue, as you can see from the attached screenshot that the icons etc. on the left all show in colour, whereas the colour palette on the right is greyed out. Is this a known issue, perhaps?
  4. Into a text frame full of text I've inserted a jpeg graphic, then selected the Text Wrap Settings button. I needed a 0.2cm gap at the left end of the graphic and none at the right. I entered the 0.2 in the 'Left' box, but the space gets attached to the right-hand side of the graphic, not the left. Curious, I set the Left gap back to zero and put 0.2cm in the Right box and yes, you've guessed it, the gap appeared on the left!
  5. Since the last update I've noticed a strange new phenomenon. When typing text into a text box, random words automatically change the first letter from lower case to upper case. This is not something I do by inadvertently pressing the Shift key.
  6. Version 1.7.0.192 (beta) with Win 10 fully updated. I had a text box with a small graphic inside it, and text wrapping round it. The option to move the graphic with the text was turned off. I needed to move the text box down a couple of millimeters, and did so. The graphic stood still, of course. So then I selected the graphic. But when I tapped the Down arrow to move it down into alignment, the program suddenly shut down. The other programs open at the time were Google Chrome browser and Logos 8 Bible Software. One good thing is that, when I re-opened Publisher, it offered me a recovery file, which was slightly more up-to-date than the last saved version of a few minutes earlier. David Matthew
  7. I've found that grouping objects by pulling a marquee round them, then right-clicking and choosing 'Group', does the trick OK. But what I miss is the helpful little symbol that appeared, bottom-right of the group, when doing this in PagePlus. In Publisher, there's no way you can tell, from looking at the page, that the objects are grouped. Could a little 'grouped' icon be made a feature, please?
  8. I've made an A4 landscape doc with two pages -- as I've done in PagePlus for years. I need to print onto the two sides of an A4 sheet of paper, then fold it in half to make a neat A5 leaflet. The problem is, the two sides are printed different ways up! In the Print dialog I have changed 'Flip long side' to 'Flip short side', but it makes no difference. Every combination of the Publisher print settings and my inkjet's settings produce the same unacceptable result. Is this a programming blip? Or does somebody need to give me a cuff round the ear and say, 'Look here, it's obvious...'?
  9. I, too, have PagePlus files dating from the very early days of that excellent program, and feel that the ability for Affinity Publisher to import them is an absolute must.
  10. I've been struggling to find a simple way to change the page orientation from portrait to landscape, having set up a new document with margins etc. File > Document Setup offers no option for this. Am I missing something, or do I have to start the whole thing again? Surely not. PagePlus had a simple icon on the toolbar to click for this.
  11. A steady flow of tweaks making for an increasingly stable and brilliant program. Thank you!
  12. Enjoyed my initial foray into using Designer - a simple A4 poster for a concert. It took me about 90 minutes, during which the program crashed five times. On two of those occasions Windows informed me that the program had encountered a problem and needed to close. On the other three, Designer just suddenly disappeared. So clearly there are still bugs and instability associated with it, but it looks a great program.
