It is also possible to do this in the layers studio.
Create a new blank masterpage and assign it to the page with the contents. In the layers panel unlock the master page. Now select every element in the layers above the master page and move them into the master page. Lock the master page again. Finally remove the masterpage from the page. Now all the content is part of a new masterpage and can be applied to other pages. This is not the Inkscape method but it should work for now

    and hello @panelson3,

to both of you, please take into account that APub still is a rather 'young' application. There are so many aspects to create and develop a truely professional publishing software. All of these just can't be done in a short time or with the initial release. So, please, be patient.
Actually I do have high hopes that we - at some time - do get soft proofing capabilities. It just will take its (and their) time 🙂

dominik reacted to Ash in 2.3.0 to be released this morning!
    Hi All,
I’m pleased to say that we will be pushing 2.3 live to retail this morning. The beta versions were updated yesterday to the same build (2.3.0.2165) as detailed in Patrick’s post here. This means the beta versions are in effect exactly the same as the retail versions we will push so you can keep them installed if you wish.
As always it’s been a pleasure working with you all on this release and cannot thank you enough for all the bug reports and other feedback you have given. I mentioned at the start of this beta we are working towards a shorter cadence between updates to help us release improvements and bug fixes sooner - and I hope you agree this has worked very well.
With that in mind we will be starting 2.4 beta very shortly (hopefully in just a couple of weeks). Looking forward to seeing you all on here for that!
    Thanks again,
    Ash

Carrying on from what I said earlier...
One method is to use the Node Tool in Transform Mode but that can be awkward when you want nice results and it can take a lot of time. (I posted a video about it in the forums but couldn’t find it when I looked.)
Another method, in Designer only, is to use the Warp Group functionality (Quad warp) which is generally quicker and seems to produce nice results most of the time (a little bit of fiddling may be necessary).
See attached image where I have a group of straight line Curve layers (pressure curve added to all to give the ‘tapering’ at the ends), in a Group which has a Gradient Overlay Effect added to it, and that group has a Warp Group (Quad, with added targets) added to that.

    Hello @Elwen,
in addition to what @steday suggests you do not neccessarily need to pin the image. You can simply copy and paste it inside the text. It then is treated like a letter. Baseline shift is the value to adjust accordingly.

You are welcome. The time I spent is due the fact that I did not pay too much attetion to detail. In contrary I left some flaws on purpous to demonstrate where the automatic selection lacks details with a photo like that. It all can be fixed with manual tweaks.

dominik reacted to MikeTO in APub: Nested masters or fields
I provided examples of doing this in the free Publisher PDF manual I've shared here in this forum (link below). The master page setup I used to create that manual included one with the footer for the chapter (section) name and page number and other masters for body pages, chapter title pages, and front/back matter pages. The footer master was applied to the other masters and only the other masters were applied to the document pages.
You can do it the other way, too. Create the same masters but instead of applying the footer master to the other masters you can apply both the footer master and the other master to a document page. I think that's more work and is more prone to error but there are use cases where you might want to manually apply multiple masters to the same document page.
    Cheers

    Hello @GeirSol,
you can apply masterpages to masterpages. That way you could have only one masterpage with the footer on it. This applied to all other masterpages lets you change the footer in just one place.
Question re. '4 projects': do you mean these are in seperat APub files? Masterpages work only within one file. You could look into the book feature if that will let you syncronize across multiple documents. I haven't tested that, though.

    Q&A
Is this really free? Yes, I'm making it available free of charge. It's copyrighted to prevent others from publishing it as their own. Is there a longer manual I can purchase? No, this is it. Is there an iPad version? No, the steps and screenshots are for the macOS and Windows versions. Is there a version for Designer or Photo? No, but many of the features are the same so you should still find it useful. Why does it use a print layout if it's a PDF? It's a demonstration of how to use the features it describes to create a print book. Previous version for 2.3:

dominik got a reaction from vjmassny in (Beginner): how to proceed when designing a book cover with a spine that contrasts with both front and back?
    Hello @Amy Choue,
this is my fault. I accidentially created the file in the beta version of Designer. Attached is a file created in version 2.1.1.
Learning to work with a design application is a long process and furthermore doing book cover design is so, too. Looking at samples is certainly a good way to start and I'd even advice to rebuild a design that you like. You can learn a lot just from replicating something. Sometimes very simple looking things can turn out to be quite tricky to accomplish. In my opinion it is also important to have an understanding of some design principles (symmetry, golden cut, colour harmony). I do not want to discourage you, quite the opposite. There are so many resources on the internet where you can learn from.
Good luck with your first cover!

dominik got a reaction from vjmassny in (Beginner): how to proceed when designing a book cover with a spine that contrasts with both front and back?
    Hello @Amy Choue,
I think there are different workflows depending on a person's preference. Here's how I do it:
I use one artboard of the dimension of the entire cover (backcover plus spline plus frontcover plus bleed). There I place three rectangles from left to right of the sizes back cover / spine / front cover. The most important thing is to figure out the width of the spine. This depends on the number of pages and the thickness of paper. Often printers offer some sort of calculators to find that out. These three rectangles are my 'drawing boards' for everything of the design that goes on top of them. I lock these layers (= rectangles). They can be filled with the required colour of the covers and the spine respectively. Does this make sense to you? I attach a simple Designer 2 file that demonstrates the above setup. Make sure to show bleed and margins.

It could be your current brush settings in the Context Toolbar, e.g. brush size, opacity, blend mode, protect alpha …
To check if any layer above and below this pixel layer (e.g. the brightness/contrast adjustment) might reduce the visibility of your brush strokes, you can view this current pixel layer in an 'isolated' mode: Therefore click its layer thumbnail with the alt-/opt- key pressed. It will display this layer only without the need to change other layer's visibility in the Layers panel options.

    Hello @augustya,
from you description it is not easy to tell what is going wrong. If you are using the Stamp Tool to pick up colour from surrounding areas make sure you have selected as source 'current layer and below'. Otherwise you are picking up colour from an empty pixel layer.
Otherwise you might post a screenshot of the whole app window so we can try to see your situation.

    Hi All,
We have just made 2.2 live across all App Stores and our website. As always, the feedback we have received from you all during this beta has been an incredible help in both shaping the new features as well as squashing many bugs!
The build we have released is the same as RC3 (build 2005), meaning for the time being whether you use the latest beta version or switch to using the release version they are the same. If you anticipate taking part in the next beta you may wish to keep your current beta version installed, as this will be updated on auto update when a new beta is available. This will either be a 2.2 patch if we feel one is needed, or moving straight onto a 2.3 beta.
It would be impossible for us to do what we do without your support, and I just wanted to say a huge thanks for everything you have contributed to this release.
    All the best,
    Ash
