dominik reacted to GarryP in How to align three circles at their tangent points
I’ve shown one method to do this in my attached video (the text below isn’t a step-by-step guide, just notes on the video).
“Enable Snapping” should be ON, “Snap to object bounding boxes” should be ON, and “Include Bounding box mid points” should be ON.
Part A – The first circle
If you are not using Designer, and therefore can’t use the Point Transform Tool, or you just want to do it quickly, then, instead of the instructions in this part, you can simply snap the left ‘side’ of circle B to the right ‘side’ of of circle A and then rotate all the circles to how you want them later.
Draw a line from the centre of circle A to anywhere.
Use the Node Tool to move the end of the line to get the angle you want.
Use the Point Transform Tool to move and rotate circle B.
Use the Point Transform Tool to translate circle B so that it touches circle A.
Part B – The second circle
The width of the first construction circle should be: width of circle A plus width of circle C.
The width of the second construction circle should be: width of circle B plus width of circle C.
If you aren’t using Designer (and can’t use the Point Transform Tool) you can draw a line from the intersection of the two construction circles (to anywhere, the end point doesn’t matter) and then use snapping with the Move Tool to drag circle C into place.
Note: If you don't want circle B to be rotated after this then you can just double-click the rotation handle to reset it.
Important: There may be tiny gaps between the circles but that’s because they aren’t perfect circles, and that’s because of the way the Affinity applications draw circles using bezier curves. I don’t think there’s anything we can do about this.

I think the order of the layers is wrong. You have to make sure to place the circle above the polygon. Then intersect should give you the proper result.

    Hi All,
Just wanted to say thanks for all your feedback regarding the alignment drop down. Obviously much of this is general feedback on that rather than specific to this new functionality, although certainly understand that this feature has put focus on some of the improvements to the drop down as a whole. We agree with a lot of what is being said, and will look to make some changes - but these will come in a future update...
    Thanks,

A not so well known command is to use CMD+D to deselect the text tool when in editing mode. Then hit the shortcut key for the tool you want to use next.
But basically CMD+D (I think it's Option+D on Mac) behaves the same as ESC.

I have just found this behaviour... this is UNACCEPTABLE and I don't give a damn about whether I should do it on export or when.
CTRL+Z is UNDO so MAKE IT UNDO stuff!!!!!!
How many more idiotic changes of the tools that are standard, have been standard in the creative world, will the Affinity team try to impose on us?
BTW The cookie consent shouldn't refresh the page.

Why would you care? Why do you want to change the way people work?

dominik reacted to Ash in 2.4.0 Beta Build 2 (2240)
    Hi All,
We have just made a new build available of the 2.4 beta live - version 2.4.0.2240 - which will be available to you on auto update shortly. The fix list for this build is here.

In addition to those fixes we have made a couple of tweaks to insertion target locking based on your feedback:
You can now choose to lock your insertion target to insert inside your selection. All lock insertion options can now be applied on iPad via a long press on the relevant option, in addition to alt-click. Thanks as always for your continued feedback!

dominik reacted to firstdefence in How to *import* black and white adjustment *presets* in AfPhoto?
Just tried this and while it does store the adjustment layer; shows as a red square and is named as the adjustment filter, when dragged back onto the workspace, the adjustment layer appears and the settings are registered in the filter but the adjustment isn't applied, but, if you go to Blend Options and nudge either of the ranges in or out to 99% the adjustment is applied and obviously only 99% of it is applied and anything below that is a percentage overlay of the filter. Duplicating the asset'ed filter maintains this anomaly.
Grouping multiple adjustment filters to asset as a collective adjustment, when dragged back doesn't apply any of the filters, the Blend Options trick doesn't work so you have to ungroup and then apply the Blend Options trick.
Makes me think this might be an obscure bug.

A very handy and clever solution to reach a checkbox that sometimes is hidden on the far right end of the toolbar. Even without touching this checkbox. Thanks!

I believe this has been requested before: In the case of the Desktop version, having a Panel dedicated for this alignment actions would be better than the current Dropdown option. Still, nice additions.
    Best regards!

    Apps: All
    Platforms: Windows, macOS and iPad
While transforming any object with the move tool (whether resizing, rotating, skewing or moving) you can now hold space to temporarily toggle Lock Children on or off (to achieve the opposite behaviour of what you currently have set in the context toolbar).

I want to add that it might be usefull to leave a little of the shadow in to make the image look more convincing. Human eyes can easily and intuitivly tell that something is wrong - even if they can't explicitly say what it is. The mountains in the right half of the pictures do have shadows and do not fit well with the manipulated mountain.

dominik reacted to Patrick Connor in 2.3.0 to be released this morning!
We are planning to release a 2.3.1 patch to address a handful of important things and then start 2.4.0 beta.
We think it's important to address a few high customer impact bugs quickly in a 2.3.1 release, in a fast/stable manner.
The release of 2.4.0 with improvements and features and many fixes will likely take a while to be "release ready" (need a longer beta testing cycle due to having more significant code changes).
We have builds for both 2.3.1 and 2.4.0 in internal testing at the moment. I would expect these to both be with you in the first half of this month
