    Hi @Arnaud Mez,

I think one can never have too many fonts :)

This is why I decided to use a font manager that allows me to keep a basic set of about 650 fonts always active and have access to more than 10000 fonts in the library. This doesn't slow down the computer or the start of software.

I also find it more convenient to browse and search for fonts in the font manager software, which is much more sophisticated in displaying font lists than any of the graphic programs.

I personally use Main Type but there is also a free font manager called Nexus Font.

    Cheers,

    EHLO (o;

This is probably not on the high priority list, but as an existing gravit designer user I find the additional document presets for social media very handy...

Especially my girlfriend likes the predefined Instagram, Facebook, whatever keeps you 25hours busy a day social media size presets in gravit designer.

Or maybe a user definable set of presets?

    Hello @davorin,

may I guide you to an answer I posted a while ago to a similar request in this thread over there. It explains a way of working while this feature is currently not available. But it gives you basically the same functionality. I hope you find it usefull :)

    Ha,

I guess that's what I get for just a quick search in the Forum.

Awesome, thank you for the Link, gonna check it out, but I would never get the Idea that my understanding of Library would be called "Digital Asset Management". I guess DAM sounds a lot better than Library ;)

Actually I find Library not a bad word at all :)

It's just that DAM has become the more general term for this kind of application. Especially as it is per definition not limited to photos. But so is a Library, too ;)

Please provide a command named "Duplicate" in the File menu, as is available in several document-based apps on macOS.

It would instantly open a new doc tab containing a duplicate of the current doc.

This would enable us to use one keyboard shortcut instead of the current convoluted workaround:

    1. open Snapshots panel
    2. click create new snapshot
    3. ok the snapshot's name
    4. select the snapshot entry in the panel
    5. click the "New document from snapshot" button

In case anyone is wondering what use there is for duplicate of a document, it provides an alternative branch in the creation of a document when one wants to experiment with various trajectories for a work, or with various solutions to a problem.

What is this different from 'Save as ...' and use a new file name? Except that the file that was duplicated is not open anymore, but is in the list of 'recent opened'.

Oh, I just noticed that @Wosven suggested the same :)

So my idea would be, that Affinity Photo would have its own Library where you can import, store and manage your Pictures. With native integration into Affinity Photo so even when you edited a Picture before and want to make changes it would still have everything good to go when you edit it again.

Hello @TGDesign and welcome to the forum.

You may be surprised because something like this is already in development. But, please, don't hold your breath because it is completely unclear when this program will be available.

You can read a long thread discussion over there. Or you can search the forum for the keyword 'Digital Asset Management' or 'DAM' :)

There is no such difference. Both Image and Pixel objects are non-destructively transformable until explicitly rasterised by Rasterise command or implicitly rasterised by a destructive filter.

Thank you for pointing this out. I tried this out. Only rasterize turns the layer (image or pixel) into actual pixel size.

Now I am a little confused what the advantage of a placed imaged would be :$

why not to automate and hide all this steps from me in just COPY and PASTE way, as it is native in PS ?

This is a fair question. I assume this function will come at some point in the future.

I wonder if it is possible to create a macro that does that? (I'm not good at macros, so far).

The behavior in PS - i can paste bitmap or or use PLACE... as container - no problem. And when i making selection and copying - no any limiting. I can copy and paste from this selection. And no matter the underlying layer is plain raster image or raster image in container (placed with command PLACE..) But in Affinity photo - what the reason to prevent copying in the same way? I want to leave the image as it is and don't want to rasterise it, but want to copy some portion from it - is it wrong idea or behaviour? Until i make command RASTERISE - it copy whole layer and ignoring my selection area. Also when i CUT i just completely removes layer - not selected region. If it not possible - why the AP allow me to use selection tool on this layer? This is non logical. Keep in mind - that for many users the AP is a step from PS.

    Hello @Manofjesus,

the difference between an image layer and a raster layer is that you can resize the image layer as often as you want. From big to small to big again and it will keep its original quality. Only when you rasterize it you have access to the actual pixels.

A good way to have both is to duplicate an image layer, then rasterize and copy the part that you have selected. After you pasted this selection, you can either delete the rasterized layer or turn its visibility of.

This sounds a little more complicated but it has in general big advantages over having images always placed as raster layers.

The help file explains this if you search for 'Place images'.

    Cheers,

I noticed this, too, and asked about this. Currently it is not possible by design. You can double tap on the Navigator and it zooms to fit the whole document.

What helps to some extent is to pan with two fingers. But, of course, this does not work well if you want to jump to the opposite part of the image :)

it occurred to me when I saw that the works published here are not easy to see, you have to click one by one. it seems more visual to me in the style of social networks.

Good point, it is not very visual in the forum. In this regard it may seem a little 'old school' (which I don't mind because I myself am old school  ;) )

I want to point you to https://affinityspotlight.com/, in case you don't know the site.
At the moment it is more of a magazine like site. But it could have the potential to be expanded in something you have in mind.

Is there a possibility of a 'Save for Web' dialogue in Affinity Photo that would included a preview of the final JPEG, GIF or PNG,  to let you make an informed decision on the trade-off between reduced file size and image quality?

    Hello @Willow Island,

in case noone has welcomed you here at the forum: welcome to the forum :)

This is a feature discussed and requested several times. There is a long ongoing thread over there where you can participate:

Click on the heading and you are heading right there :D

Maybe they could make something like "Affinity Toolbox" with the Asset Manager and the Viewer included as a package.

I suggest both of you to search the forum with the keyword 'DAM' (= Digital Asset Manager).

Serif have stated several times that they are working on a program like this. It is completely open when we will see this (my guess is perhaps some - long - time after the release of Affinity Publisher).

2 - Moving points feels a *little* laggy - what I mean by this is that there's a small (perhaps a 1 or 1/2 second) delay before the point moves when dragged with the Apple Pencil. It's not a deal breaker but makes the app feel a bit "sticky".

    Hi @RocketBoots,

this is exactly what I am experiencing. It may be related to the model of iPad you have. The newer (and more powerfull) one's seem to perform better.

Mine is an little older iPad pro 9.7". It would be interesting to hear with what you are working.

99% of the time, when I use the Resize Canvas feature, I use the centre point, to expand outwards from the centre. Please either set this is as the default or add a feature where Affinity Photo / Designer remember the last used setting. I use keyboard shortcuts for close to everything and having to lift my fingers and use the trackpad is a waste of time.

:)I would like to see this on PC, too
