  1. Hello @Northstar, you might want to read through this thread to get some inspiration: d.
  2. This is perhaps part of the reason why Serif has adjusted (or changed) their way of what they communicate about future features and the roadmap(s). (To those who are not familiar with the development and release history of Affinity Publisher: it was eventually released in 2019). I am sure no matter which way of communication with customers a company chooses there will always be people around who complain about it. d.
  3. Hi @David Gerson, the red dots indicate text overflow of the text frame in which your page numbers are placed. Try to make the text frame wider (on the master page). d.
  4. Hi @DomD, I want to disagree with this statement. Serif has numerously explained that and why some features are not implemented yet. Serif's developers and other staff are participating in this forum. Their tone and way of communication is very educated and customer oriented. I say this because I am reading the forum for several years. I do not quote any of these postings in mind but can give you examples if required. What is not there is a feature to select/filter objects according to their properties. But this is not questionable, perhaps disappointing to some of the users. BTW, I would very much appreciate this feature, whatever way it is implemented. Cheers, d.
  5. Hello @prasado, welcome to the forum. I'm sorry the see that your start with APub is starting with a disapointing experience. If you take a little moment to think a little different you will find out that it is possible to create a 3 page folder in APub, just not with three pages. Use one page instead and set up your folds with guides. I am not saying this is the perfect replacement. It's just a workaround. More than a two page spread is not possible at the moment and this will change in the future (at some time). I'm just trying to help you to explore APub a little better Cheers, d.
  6. I understand. This is not possible at the moment unless you duplicate the target object first and remove the unwanted parts afterwards. But this is something you want to avoid. I could think that this and some other tools (like a shape painter or a vector eraser) could be usefull to create and shape vector objects. I am confident that we will see some development in future versions of AD. Cheers, d.
  7. Hi @Edward Goodwin, while it is correct that one can type in percentages in the transform panel, I think what you are looking for is a little hidden in the image toolbar: Select the picture frame (not the image itself). Look at the left end of the picture frame toolbar. It's a little under the three Publisher Persona icons. There's a read out of the image's dimensions ... and a little downward pointing triangle next to it. Click on it and you will get this: This is where you type in image scaling. Cheers, d. PS: Well, @Joachim_L beat me by the minute
  8. Correct. I missed that, too Since we are in the Designer forum I really just was thinking about what can be done in AD. I was too stuck with the missing 'free transform' in AD. Anyway, there is a solution found for the OP's question. d.
  9. Hi @haakoo, this, indeed, is an interesting and working alternative way to accomplish this. Vector objects and text remain editable. Handles are a little off, but that's not too bad. I was thinking inside AD with my comment, but with Affinity one never should forget the other parts of the suite d.
  10. Hello @jaybates86 and welcome to the forum! Perspective distortion for vector objects does not exist, yet. It is a feature that is discussed under the label 'free transform' many times on the forum, see e.g. this thread: There is a feature where you can place vector objects on isometric planes and transform, edit and adjust as many times as you need. See this screenshot: Look at 'View > Studio > Isometric' and in the help file search for 'Isometric panel' for an explanation on how it works. I am aware that this does not solve your problem. But I would assume that it 'just' needs to add a perspective grid to this. Serif's developer @Ben, who was working on this might shed some light if this may be an option. Cheers, d.
  11. Hello @Larryh, thank you for your quick reply and the samples you show. This will certainly help to continue the discussion and perhaps to distill some intersting ideas. Cheers, d.
  12. Hello @Larryh, it would be helpful to understand what you are claiming here if you could provide some (or many) examples of features you are missing. Thank you. d.
  13. In this thread it turned out that folder icons in the layer palette look different in the Mac version from the Windows version. By clicking on the icon 'Insert Layer' at the bottom of the layers palette the layers has an icon as depicted in this screenshot provided by @haakoo I searched the forum but did not find any mention on this (which does not mean it has not been mentioned at all ) The question is, is this a bug? d.
  14. Hi @noveltywaves, welcome to the forum. To start your time here around on a light note, I'd take your money, too You make some valid points with the contenders you mention. But it seems completely unclear at the moment if Serif will do that at any time soon. I doubt it. d.
  15. Out of interest, may I ask what you have in mind? d.
  16. Hi @doodledude, this definitely looks different from here. I'm not at the Affinity computer right now so I can't provide a screenshot. Since I am under Windows this may be related to differences between the two OSs. Can anyone confirm this? d.
  17. This is true and I mentioned it in my above post already: I personally think it is an advanced feature to see a preview of the folder's content instead of a plain folder icon Cheers, d.
  18. Hi @doodledude, we have to make sure to do the same thing. This is what I do: Work in Affinity Designer In the layers palette click on the icon (at the bottom) that looks like a page. Not on the one that has a checkerboard background. (If you hover over them you will see tooltips saying 'Add Layer' and 'Add Pixel Layer'. Do not choos 'Pixel Layer') This should create a new layer with a folder icon. Does this do what I am describing? d.
  19. Hi @Steve100, it's always a good start to look around what others have done. But I think the idea of only looking at templates that come with a specific software is narrowing down the possibilites of inspiration. Your inspiration. I'd rather look around on the internet itself for websites and template sources no matter if they work with Affinity or not. If you find something that looks interesting you can analyse it and then rebuild it in APub (or any other). Rebuilding will also be a process of learning the software and its features. This will help you to become more independent in the long run. Of course this takes some time and effort to find the right sites on the net. But the multitude of inspirational sources will pay off d.
  20. Thanks for the illustrations. Looks handy. In Windows my workflow relies very much on a file manager where I do the same. It's just a different way of doing it I admit tags are not common in Windows. d.
  21. Basically never (except for typing a text now and then at a friend's computer). It just happened that I started out with Windows and very soon was locked in due to an audio editor of my choice that is not available for Mac. I'm not much a fan of OS wars (and I don't consider your question something in that direction). Both systems (plus Linux, but I'm not very familiar with that, too) have their strengths and their quirks. Both OSs have grown a long way and are quite capable. At least for my needs d.
  22. Thanks for the explanation. Then it's an OS dependent feature and perhaps they will implement it. For me the tooltip is sufficient. Cheers, d.
  23. Sigh. If you think every person of the group 'known to man' uses a Mac (as you most likely are referring to) you may be very surprised about the number of people who are not part of this group (a.k.a. Windows users) ... please note, I am writing this with irony in mind, not a personal criticism. In Windows I can hover the mouse just over the Tab of an open file and see a tooltip that shows the entire path. Is this not available on Mac? Cheers, d.
