Create a new document and add a table. Goto Table Formats and apply e.g. default format. Double click to edit Table Format. In the frame section on the left side give the frame a colour and click on the stroke dropdown. Give the stroke a width of e.g. 4pt. Click on 'Align Stroke to Inside' and the stroke aligns inside. Finally change stroke width to a different value > the stroke alignment resets to 'Centre'. I tried this in the latest beta and in the release version (see signature). Both behave the same. I tried this in other stroke panels and there it seemed to work fine. d.

Tables with alternate coloured rows
dominik replied to D1ana's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
The table formats panel has a little menu icon top right. There you will find 'Import Formats...'. This way you can 'pull' a format from another APub file into your new file and apply it to a table. d. -

That''s a good idea Well, we're in the feature request forum. They will take note of this. d. -
Flip Vector Brush Direction

Hi @evtonic3, I think you can achieve this by switching to the Node Tool (A) and click on the icon 'Reverse curve', see screenshot. d. -
Image Frame top margin definable
dominik replied to AGmac's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
It would be worth a try to put images on seperate master pages if your layout works that way. Cheers, d. -
I discovered this in the latest APub beta but do not know if this was a problem earlier. Searching the forum I didn't find anything. Create a new document with one page and place a text frame on it. Add filler text. Place an image above the text. Add some significant text wrap settings to it to make changes easily visible (e.g. square wrapping with 10mm distance on all sides). In the Styles Panel add a style from this image still selected. Place another image above the text. Keep selected. Check that it has no wrapping set to it (this should be the default). Assign the above created style by clicking on the style once > visually nothing happens. Check the image's wrapping settings > they are set to the same settings as image #1. But these settings are NOT applied. d.

Image Frame top margin definable
dominik replied to AGmac's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
What does work is to select multiple image frames and change their wrapping settings. This applies to all selected frames. The problem may be to select all images across a long document because it is not possible to select image frames on different pages. (I tried with an object style but there seems to be a bug) d. -
Out of interest in this discussion and your experience: what do you think of APh's rendering of a Live Perspective Filter applied to a text layer? Note: the text is still editable (see APh file below). I post this because I have high hopes in Serif's capabilities to come up with a finally good solution to mesh, warp and perspective distortions. And also with type. To me the example above already looks pretty good. Another indication to this is the recent improvement (in beta) to 'Expand Stroke'. They seem to know about math (Disclaimer: I found this method of using a live perspective on type in this forum. I just can't remember where and when). d. live perspective grid.afphoto

Image Frame top margin definable
dominik replied to AGmac's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Hello @AGmac, welcome to the forum. You can save a picture frame with wrap settings of your choice as an asset. Name it accordingly and drag it into your layout when you need it. This way you can have multiple 'master' picture frames. I assume you can do the same with image captions. Note that these will be simple text frames and you have to add and edit the caption manually. Cheers, d. -
Warp Workaround - SOLVED!
dominik replied to jgarza's topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on Desktop
After more than 10 years using Xara Designer Pro I choose to leave it behind because of their (mainly Magix') descisions on how to develop the software. There was a (not bad) set of vector tools (including warp) that were not developed any further over a long period of time. Instead they more and more moved into a direction what I call (a little exaggerating) 'painting by numbers'. Filling up the software with templates and templates and templates and some strange ways to get things accomplished (especially in the web department of features). The interface did not get any major overhaul for more than a decade. Xara was a very fast and ambitious software in it's beginning. Their licence model they introduced some years ago is another thing that motivated me to leave the software behind. For me there is no way going back. (Apart from the fact that I still keep my outdated version of Xara Designer Pro in case I need to open old project files or an occasional warp). Good luck. d. -
Thanks for the heads up. I highly value APub's paragraph decorations and can imagine that they get improved with more styling options over time. Without knowing the programming details (and difficulties) I'd consider paragraph decorations a blue print to text decorations a.k.a. 'underline options' as they are the topic of this thread. This could be very interesting once it arrives d.

So now what?

I had the same idea but am not sure. Thus I do not comment on this part of the post. d. -
So now what?

Sorry, this is the last thing I want to see. But this is just my personal preference and you are free to suggest it. I just thought you might want to hear what others think about it. Cheers, d. -
Perhaps the widget could represent the keypoints (colour stops) of the initial gradient in a manner like this? This leaves unanswered what happens after additional colour stops are added, though I think this is an interesting discussion and I realize how hard it must be to create a good user interface... d.

Fair point. As for the center of rotation one could use a widget similar to the one in the transform panel (the 9 squares) that determine the origin of transformation. As for the axis of rotation I would stick with the one each rotation in the two dimensional model has. The one vertical out of the screen Other gradients than linear might need special treatment. Or one has to use the gradient tool as it is now. I think for more complex gradients it is inevitable to adjust them manually anyway. d.

May I ask what you mean with 'replacement for the transformation panel'? What do you miss there? FIY, this has been adressed in one of the latest betas: Cheers, d.

Voting for features
dominik replied to BarKeegan's topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on Desktop
Thanks, @Pšenda, for detailing on the options a forum member has to react to a post. This may help other forum members to follow this discussion that is perhaps a little theoretical to some (I'm serious and not joking at your post). This is an open forum and we see many different ways of participation. The '+1' is just one of them and I do have to live with it. I find this particular one just not very helpful. Alone the lenght of a thread (e.g. 19 pages) should be an indication to the readers that this must be a topic of interest and discussion and has most likely come to Serif's attention. Why add such a redundant 'baa' to it (sorry +1-ers ). I'd rather see a new aspect or argument or idea added to a thread. Apart from that: happy new year! d. -
Voting for features
dominik replied to BarKeegan's topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on Desktop
How many times did I click on a new post in a topic of interest to see a '+1' that IMHO does not add anything to the discussion Also, I do not favour a voting system. This would give people the impression that they have some kind of right to demand features and causes even more complaints in the long run. Serif have made clear that they have their internal ways of planning the roadmap and I think we, the users, can trust that they have good reasons to do what they do. After all they want to develop a good software package. (To be clear if that matters at all: in political things I strongly believe in democracy). d. -
I do not quite understand what you are doing to the object that shows the bounding box while moving the mouse while 'Hide selection while Dragging' is enabled. Can you give an example, please? Whatever I do with the Move Tool active the bounding box gets out of the way. But I admit, without moving the mouse the bounding box is visible, perhaps this is what you are referring to? Publisher has a Preview Mode that does this. If you have Publisher you could give it a try (CTRL+SHIFT+W). d.
