  1. Hi @StuartRc, I cannot thank you enough for providing us with these patterns and styles. Great work. Thank You! d.
  2. Hello Alexander, welcome to the forum. Just a friendly suggestion. Don't use a real email adress as a user name. It is very likely that spam robots are picking this up. You can change your user name in the account settings on the top right of this page. Cheers, d.
  3. Hi @hughosb, in addition to @walt.farrell's suggestion you might want to look into this little Windows utility program: PureText (link: http://www.stevemiller.net/puretext/). It allows you to paste plain text into any application with a custom keyboard shortcut. There's also a description on how to do it on a Mac: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-ways-strip-formatting-copy-paste-text/ (> #3.) Cheers, d.
  4. Hello @fredphoesh, I think this is something the Davinci Resolve developers have to implement. They need to read these files and notice any changes. Affinity/Serif cannot do anything about it. d.
  5. Please don't claim that there are no new features in 1.8. This is not true. Please see here: If you find bugs you might want to post more precisely so that the developers can look into (and hopefully solve) them. Cheers, d.
  6. As I said on the Mac it is a different combination of keys. See here: Try Control + Alt + mouse button. d.
  7. You know that you can do this? Press and hold (on Windows) ALT + left mouse button + right mouse button and drag left/right or up/down to scale the brush and its transparency. I'm not sure what the modifier on Mac OS is. Others might chime in. d.
  8. Interesting explanation. Thank you for that. What I noticed is that recently the install files (on Windows) increased in size about 100 MB. I cannot imagine that this is only due to the new 'File new' dialogue. It seems there is some amount of new functionality added behind the scenes. d.
  9. Dan C. recently posted that they are working on a Publisher Workbook. See here: d.
  10. Hello @Whitedog, in the Navigator panel you can type in any zoom level you want. Also, if you switch to the Zoom Tool you can type in any value into the box labeled 'Zoom'. d.
  11. I did not read your post as criticism and my intention was to add in a constructive way to your suggestion. Especially in regard to the DPI setting, because it would be of great help if there is some bug burried. For me the DPI value only changes when I click on a preset itself. Not when clicking on the different sections at the top. d.
  12. Hello @derei, in my observation new features tend to have some rough edges. I agree that some things in the new dialogue can be improved a little. Two things came to mind, though: the DPI setting changes correctly here in AD, APub and APh. I wonder what may be the difference between our two setups. I'm on Windows. The font for the page format setting has to work for different amounts of text. Admittedly 'A1' looks rather small in that rectangle but it also has to work for e.g. 'Social media square post'. Cheers, d.
  13. I did a little test with multiple strokes on a letter C (converted to curves). Visually a wider outline is close to an offset path. I compared it to a copy of the letter that I shrank by the same amount of pixels as the stroke width. And, yes, the result is not the same, only somewhere in that area. Too bad that my idea doesn't work 🙁 d.
  14. Hello @David in MA, wouldn't it work to type into the transform panel's field 'W: 200px-2' and set aspect ratio to locked? To me this seems to be pretty much the same. d.
  15. I support this idea and, yes, it is not possible at the moment to turn vector objects into guides. But it is possible to create a 'fake' guides layer with any kind of object in it and use these as visual and snapping guides. See screenshot and the attached AD file: You can style them You can position them Make sure to lock the guides layer Make shure to select 'Snapping Candidates > All Layers' I guess to set up an elaborate guides layer with objects turned into guides won't be much more effort ... but perhaps cleaner 😉 d. === custom-guides.afdesign
  16. In regard to screenspace you'de be surprised to read this: To each his own 😉 d.
  17. I think the logic behind the current behaviour is to use the 'Yes' button for easy to solve problems where all missing resources are in one location. While the Resource Manager is the way to go for more complex cases. E.g. one first needs to find out which resources are missing and then locate them individually. But I agree the Resource Manager has room for improvement in this regard 🙂 d.
  18. Hi @big smile, if you select 'Yes' from the dialog box that informs you that there are 'Missing Resource(s)' instead of switching to the Resource Manager all files in the same directory are relinked. d.
  19. Hello @Rosie Haller, welcome to the forum. As I wrote a couple of postings above I tried merging multiple documents and table of contents and page numbering work correctly in the merged file. What I mean is that page numbers are applied correctly after the merge. Within the single documents each document starts at page 1 unless you add an offset. But I do not encourage you to work that way right now. This was merely a test and is far from a true book feature. I do not know what they have up their sleeves. But I could imagine that at some point they introduce something like linked Publisher files similar to linked image files. Cheers, d.
  20. I disagree. APub does not 'spoil the entire line of Affinity' it enhances it and brings all three programs together. At least for me it has improved my workflow. d.
  21. If it is a not too complicated shape you can create a vector shape and use that as a mask for the GIF (or any other placed file). No need to switch to the Photo Persona. Additionally you can use text wrapping and apply 'Edit Wrap Outline' (icon on the toolbar). That one is a native APub feature. It all depends on where and how you want to place the image file. d.
  22. Hi @dbrear, make sure you specify to export the GIF with transparent background. In APh in the export dialogue you click on more and there you can select background transparency. As far as I know this should be the default. You could change to APub's Photo Persona and create a mask from only the white parts of the placed image ('Select > Tonal Range > Highlights', then invert the selection and finally 'Layer > New Mask Layer'). d.
  23. Hello @awelt and welcome to the forum. No, there is no timeline. Serif does not (or rarely) comment if features are in development or not. At some point they show up in the beta versions. You can read release notes in the respective forums over there. DXF support is not mentioned yet. Cheers, d.
