Time! That was the issue. Both programs are running now. I was having an issue with my old C drive & decided to clean install Windows again. I installed a NVMe drive to replace the old drive & did the install. Because of my issue it was recommended to replace the computer's 3v batter as well. That meant resetting the BIOS. I did correct the time in BIOS but after the clean install the PC's time was incorrect. Back to BIOS I corrected the time again. When you recommended me to check my time settings it was on AUTO but had defaulted to Pacific Time Zone. Reset to EST made Windows clock 3 hours different. Back to BIOS a correction got time in sync again. No errors this time. Thank you for your assistance! George -

Thanks. See files attached. It blames the firewall but I turned it off in Windows Security & got the same results. I'll do more research to make sure it's off & try again. George affinity-conncheck-1677091476.md -
Didn't work for me. I had a hard drive crash & had to reinstall both Designer 2 & Photo 2. I get this error message. I have sent support an explanation but haven't heard back yet but they said give the 24 hours. Attached is Photo 2 error but it errors for Designer 2 as well.

All this app business is weird. Reading elsewhere in this forum I ran across the (I'll call it the core) of the app. You'll need to toggle on " view/hidden files" to find the core. C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityPhoto2_2.0.0.1640_x64__3cqzy0nppv2rt\App In that folder there's 1.22Gb of data. So, all the data is installed on my PC.

I was reading your other response to a similar question when this came in. So, it's an "app" now? Don't know if that's good or bad but can't think of what might be good. The bad would seem to be an app wouldn't utilize all my PCs processing power. I did think it was strange that a product key wasn't required.

I'm on Windows 11. I just installed Affinity Designer 2 & Affinity Photo 2 but still have both Affinity Designer 1 & Affinity Photo 1 installed on my PC. Windows Apps shows Affinity Designer 2 at 116Mb & Affinity Photo 2 at 173Mb. But Windows Apps shows Affinity Designer 1 at 1.03Gb & Affinity Photo 1 at 1.06Gb. Are Affinity Designer 2 & Affinity Photo 2 proxies & internet dependent? I didn't need to use a product key when installing. I'd prefer a standalone install without needing to connect to the internet to use my software. Did I do something wrong while installing? If so, how to correct?

Perfect! Thanks Alfred -
I need to make a several page document & wondered if the Frame Text Tool could be set in such a way that the text would overflow automatically to the next page? At the moment I've been cutting the overflow lines & pasting to the next page which can be a pain for a large doc. I know this can be done with an office program like Word or OpenOffice Writer but I want to dress the doc up a bit with AD. Thanks

Well I'm learning, albeit the hard way, but nevertheless learning. A while back I created a simple character but now, after training myself with AF's tutorials, I decided to add life into this character by advanced shading. I guess we all get carried away while working & forget to save occasionally. That was the case as I had completed a lot on my project when I decided to try experimenting with brush types to add something extra to an outline. Apparently AFD didn't like this particular brush I selected as it crashed... it took awhile but down it went. Fortunately, AF has recovery for mistakes like this which worked like a charm & I was back to work where I left off. Moral of the story, save, save & save your work often! :)

Slowly but surely I'm learning AF Designer but right now more slowly than surely! ;) How to make text with perspective? I'm not sure how to search "Help". What I'd like to do is place my text on a wall that looks slightly taller on the left, but smaller to the right, in proportion to my drawing. Like on a hallway wall. I wasn't sure what to call this as I call it perspective but I guess skew might be correct. Please help before I lose all my hair! :D

"File Recovery Interval" default set 300 seconds (5 minutes) as you have said. Searching my PC for an untitled .afdesign file. Mark, this must be a user error. Found no untitled .afdesign file. Seems like some sort of untitled .afdesign file would be present. Found nothing on my backup drive as well. Sorry.

Thanks Mark. Everything happen quickly. I worked on my project for at least an hour before I opened "Save As", typed a title in, then entered to save. AF seemed to hesitate much longer than I ever recall so I tried to close the "Save As" window to try again but the entire program crashed. When I reopened AF my previous project opened, not the unsaved project. There were no "error" windows or warnings. This was my first work with AF Beta v18. Perhaps I should see if this crash repeated before calling it a bug.
