  1. Hi Marc I know your problem (I used CorelDraw earlier). Currently there is no possibility in AD. We have to wait for Affinity Publisher. But you can try the following possibility for example (I do so). It is not exact, what you expect, but it can partially help. I draw a rectangle (or other forms), then convert it to curves, then convert it to a text frame, fill it with text, and with the node tool I can create various forms (adding further nodes, too). The text will follow automatically the form. KoBu
  2. Hi Jeremy, I had a similar problem: (look at: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/28315-apwin-%E2%80%9Enew-from-clipboard%E2%80%9C-selection-with-strange-behaviour/) Miguel solved my problem: "That's because the layer you're copying the selection from (in the second case) is an (Image) layer type. You can check this looking at the label between parenthesis after the layer's name if there's one. Right-click on it in the Layers panel first and select Rasterise... from the contextual menu to convert it to a (Pixel) layer type. Then you can select and copy just the selected part to a new layer. Only Pixel layer's type lets you edit them at a pixel level. (Image) layer's type are considered objects and can only be transformed globally (scale, rotate, skew etc) but you cannot change their content (pixels)." Perhaps this will help you, too?
  3. Thank you Chris, I have only tried something, I don't miss this possibility at the moment.
  4. APwin crashes immediately when I click on "New Batch Job" (blank canvas, nothing is opend). Look attached files.
  5. Thank you Miguel for your fast answer with the perfect solution. I would not have thought of that. I think this is a interesting theme for the Affinity Photo Workbook. KoBu
  6. When inserting an object into a picture I often have to smooth the edges of this object. Deleting the edges with the „erase brush tool“ is very complex. In Corel Photo Paint I can insert an object, which i can smooth (and other things, see enclosed file). No rework is required. Is there this possibility (smoothing the edges of inserted objects) in AP, too? How can I do this? KoBu
  7. When I open a picture by „file open“, I can make a selection of a part of the picture, copy and paste this. Then I get a new layer with only this selection. When I open a picture by „New from clipboard“, I can make a selection of a part of the picture, too. But when I copy and paste this selection, I get a new layer with the complete picture (and not only with the selection). I think, that is a small bug. KoBu
KoBu
  9. In CorelDraw I can duplicate an object by dragging and thereby doing a right click. A very good possibility that I liked to use. It would be great if this would be also possible in AD (I often forget to press CTRL before dragging; and I must not use the other hand).
  10. Please don't forget our wish, if possible: Doubleclick to open the guidesmanager. Thanks
  11. I can confirm this behavior. Only the first document will be opened.
  12. Thank you Mark, I did not turn off the tools before. In meantime I changed the language from German to English and restarted APwin - now I can see the tools. And now they are visual in the German version too. I did not have to alter something in the "View>Show Tools" menu item.
  13. Hi Mark, I installed the latest version, but now the symbols (I don't know the special term) at the left side have disappeared (see attached file). How can I turn these on? KoBu
  14. Hi Eisbar, when you press the tab key, you get a simple preview (unfortunately the guides lines are visible). But better than nothing. KoBu
  15. Hi Malozaibi In the meantime (until affinity says something) one method to avoid the gap is to draw the ellipse or the rectangle, apply the brush, convert it to curves, then break the curve with the node tool (if necessary one has to correct the nodes with the node tool).
  16. Hi Andreas, cloning in AD is not the same as cloning in AP. To clone an object in ADwin I use the new Symbols panel (View > Studio > Symbols). Click on an object and create a symbol, that you can use for further objects (don’t forget to turn on „sync“ before drawing the symbol into your canvas). Changes in one of the clones will change the other clones. Sometimes it makes sense, to convert objects to curves before creating a symbol. I used this in: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/22527-ad-leaflet-for-congratulations-din-a4-folded-to-din-a6/ Look at the very interesting video tutorial concerning symbols. https://affinity.serif.com/de/tutorials/designer/
  17. I drew dotted lines and aligned a vertical and a horizontal guide line to it. Then I imported a test-picture with the place image tool and aligned it to this guide lines. All seems o.k., see “test-screen.jpg”). But when I print the page (with Epson Stylus Photo R 285), the dotted lines and the imported picture are not so close to each other (see “test-printer.jpg”) as in the original file ("dotted-import-picture.afdesign"). Is this a bug or is a setting of mine wrong? Note: I tested this in CorelDraw – there is all o.k. dotted-import-picture.afdesign
  18. Thank you Callum, although you are not exhibitors, but nevertheless there could be news on the occasion of the exhibition: my hope was a new Photo beta in the near future (IPad, Windows?). I see many tutorials about Affinity Photo (Mac) and I envy the Mac users very much. KoBu
  19. Photokina 2016 (Germany, Cologne) has started today. Will we hear something interesting from Affinity/Serif? (I hope so).
  20. Hi ygoe, I could not find this possibility, too. The arrow tool needs more post processing as necessary. In CorelDraw there is a simple option (see attached file). I hope that such a solution will be integrated in ADwin. ----> Feature Request?
  21. Hi af-user, very strange. I tried it, but for me there are no problems.
  22. (1.5.0.17) With the „place image tool“ I can import pictures (jpg, png, ..) into my artboards (page 1 to page 4), that are arranged perfectly (as requested partly turned 180 degrees) in the main artboard (DIN-A4) – see attached file. Note: The artboard pages 1 to 4 are created as symbols; these symbols are arranged in the main artboard DIN-A4. (look at: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/22527-ad-leaflet-for-congratulations-din-a4-folded-to-din-a6). But when I place a psd-file (the psd was created with CorelDraw), there will be a chaos: If I add a psd-picture (with the image tool) into one of my artboard-pages (page 1 to page 4), the picture will be shown in this page, but not in the main artboard (DIN-A4) – as it should be. When I pull this picture into another page, the chaos will start: there arise many many copies in the main artboard (see attached file „chaos“). I added a psd-file, created with CorelDraw (1111.psd), to retrace this behavior. Supplement: Same chaos, when I place a pdf with the place image tool (although this is not the meaning and purpose of the place image tool). Folder-HappyBirthday-Arial#5.afdesign 1111.psd
