Color correction for old faded photos
KoBu replied to sanoy's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Another chance: Make a selection (for example of a dress), then duplicate it. Then deselect the selection. Go to the duplicate. With the magic wand (I do’nt know the exact name, in German: „Werkzeug für das Auswählen von Bereichen“) select the colour you want to alter. Then go to the adjustment studio, select for example "HSL" or "recolour" and alter the colour. -
No photo preview on icon in icloud

I have the same problem: in the iCloud I can see thumbnails only of jpg, but not of the RAW images (canon - CR2-files). -
Affinity Photo for iPad launched at Apple WWDC
KoBu replied to Patrick Connor's topic in News and Information
Congratulation for the very great program. I would not want to miss Affinity Photo on my 12.9" iPad Pro anymore. I have transferred my image processing from the PC mostly to the iPad. Sitting on the couch and retouching pictures is a great pleasure for me. However, you have to get used to the new user interface. But the tutorials help a lot. Best regards to the developer team -
Colour in Viveza
KoBu replied to Johnfromhere's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Viveza 2 and the date 2012 !! Oddly: Recordings with my Canon IXUS until the date 21.12.2011 are displayed correctly by Viveza. From 1.1.2012 (???) and newer on the other hand the displayed pictures under Viveza appear very pale. The same bad result (pale displayed picture) is also found with pictures taken with the iPhone SE and the iPad Pro. Pictures of my Canon EOS 700D show the same result. With raw files (16 bit) I get even a strong color tinge. I uploaded many test pictures from the internet: some cannot be edited with Viveza (pale representation), while others have no problems with opening with Viveza. On the other hand, the pictures of my Panasonic Lumix are with Viveza o.k. My conclusion: The change of the date from 2011 to 2012 (and further) seems to have an effect on Viveza (unfortunately it does not help to delete the exif files with the date or export images to another format). And it may only affect images of certain cameras. Perhaps this will help the developers of Affinity Photo to find a solution. -
Hi Miguel, thank you, I would like to adapt a font so that it follows the strukture of for example a stone wall or a furrowed wood. It should seem, that the font is orginally written or brushed to the background. If I remember correctly the author of the video used at the end the "filter-distort-displace" (but I cant remember the previous important steps).

Affinity Photo for iPad

I had a similar problem: I opened a picture by „New from clipboard“. Then I made a selection of a part of the picture. But when I copied and pasted this selection, I got a new layer with the complete picture (and not only with the selection). MEB helped me: "That's because the layer you're copying the selection from (in the second case) is an (Image) layer type. You can check this looking at the label between parenthesis after the layer's name if there's one. Right-click on it in the Layers panel first and select Rasterise... from the contextual menu to convert it to a (Pixel) layer type. Then you can select and copy just the selected part to a new layer. Only Pixel layer's type lets you edit them at a pixel level. (Image) layer's type are considered objects and can only be transformed globally (scale, rotate, skew etc) but you cannot change their content (pixels)." Perhaps this will help you, too.

I have a color problem with AP, too. It is not so extrem, but visible (see attached file: left AP, right IrfanView). The colors in Irfanview and other programms (like CorelPhotoPaint) are identical and more powerful. But the color in AP deviate slightly. It is not much, but noticeable. When I edit the image in APwin and export it, the exported picture is again more powerful. But this is not good, because I have altered the picture as I saw it in APwin. Then I don’t want a change in the colors. I don’t think that a change in the Windows Colour Management would help, because then the colors in AP would alter too and the difference remains the same. What can I do? In my opinion, the colors in AP are more genuine.

When I open a picture in APwin, the picture looks a little colorless. It is not much, but noticeable. In IrfanView, Corel, Internet, and other programs) the picture looks more powerful. See attached files. When I edit the image in APwin and export it, the exported picture is again more powerful. But this is not good, because I have altered the picture as I saw it in APwin. Then I don’t want a change in the colors. Is this a bug in APwin?

Thank you Onur, I tried this without success. I've discovered in the meantime that this behavior occurs only with some edited images. There are no problems with simple changes in the pictures. But some changes lead to color changes. Unfortunately, I do not know yet which changes are responsible for this behavior. I'm looking furthermore for the wrongdoer. KoBu

When I export a picture (jpg, tiff, …) the saturation is always higher than in the original AP-picture. (I print usually JPGs with my printer software. When printing, I have to reduce the saturation in the print program, since otherwise the print would become too intense). I tried several colour profiles – but without success. Does somebody has any idea, what I can do to correct this behaviour (and get JPGs identical with AP-pictures)? KoBu Addition: I copied a picture in AP and opened it via clipboard in CorelPhotoPaint. Same result: in Corel the picture has more saturation than in AP (see attached file).
