  1. I`d like to add my +1 to this. any ETA on this yet? Any possibility on this being in 1.7?
  2. Thanks Patrick, That's too bad I know from moderating another forum that things like this sometimes happen.
  3. I did this following a Photoshop tutorial using Affinity Photo. I used the brushes that were offered in the tutorial but created my own denim texture in another program and then imported that into photo where I added a few adjustments.
  4. Have I gone nuts or has part of this thread been deleted? I know I watched a very good video tutorial by a fellow with a British accent, that showed some good techniques for doing this in Affinity photo with out the use of the displacement filter. now that video is gone.
  5. what I think vjsouza may be referring to is applying a brush to a path. for example a path drawn with the pen tool or a shape. there is an option in the stroke drop down to apply a brush but it does not work.
  6. Hi everyone! Here is the video tutorial. I hope this is helpful In the video I used a gradient swatch downloaded from a set posted by Design Art Studios if you want to use the same gradient I used here is a link to the facebook post https://www.facebook.com/groups/AffinityDesignerPhotoPublisher/permalink/1108543209314275/
  7. I have figured out a way to do this in Affinity photo and I like my results even better than the photoshop tut I will do a tutorial tomorrow
  8. 1. I'm using an English keyboard, and the square bracket keys work sometimes and some times they don't I'll see if I can get a file for you tomorrow. I have not had any problems with this in the stable version. 2. I was experimenting with creating brushes I usually use a square 1:1 document for this usually 600px by 600px again I'll try to get a document with this issue for you. 3. I'd love to be able to visually experiment with the procedural texture filter
  9. Hi I just installed the new beta and gave it a bit of a whirl. so far the issues I`m seeing are as follows 1. using the square bracket keys to increase/decrease brush size is not working 2. redraw on blur, smudge etc brushes is very slow and resulted in a lock up 3.procedural texture needs sliders not equations. I can't figure out how to experiment with this at all! I suck at math and even simple algebra is very difficult for me but give sliders to visually experiment and this filter will become useful. as it is i can't use it at all. 4. Filter forge 7 works for me with the stable version but generates an error with the beta.
  10. As a long time user of filter forge and someone who failed algebra I would love to see a node based approach as long as it has a preview of the result. Nodes and sliders would open some of the more advanced capabilities to everyone
  11. Hi guys I spent some time last night playing with this so cool! I love it! Stuart has pretty much covered the issues I have had with it so far so at this point nothing more to report . I am going to continue testing though I would like to second the request for the ability to toggle the sub brushes on and off perhaps with a little check box like with layers? Thank you stuart for the vegetation brushes they were helpful while figuring out just how the subbrushes feature works. Another suggestion would be a video tutorial added to the already wonderful serif videos to quickly explain how this works and demonstrate the power this little feature has. Edit: Here is a brush I created that you guys can play with that shows the preview issues. It is really hard to adjust the baubles sub brush accurately because I don't get a real time preview of how the brush will actually draw so it becomes a lot of trial and error. It also seems to have issues with spacing and size sync. I hope this helps holiday garland.afbrushes
  12. New F.A.Q tab now added to the spirals listing I also addressed the fact that the assets file doesn't work with Affinity Photo in the tab as well
  13. I have been asked about the file you get when you purchase these. You get a zip file that contains a png preview and an Affinity Assets file. The assets file is only useable in Affinity Designer as Photo does not currently have an assets panel. Once the file is unzipped the assets file can be imported into Affinity designer through the assets panel. if the assets panel is not showing go into the view menu and select studio in the studio menu make sure assets is ticked. in the upper right corner of the assets panel click the little menu icon and select import assets browse to where you unzipped the assets file to and click open. The assets will import and you should be able to drag them from the assets panel into an affinity document.
  14. I closed a document without saving it, it was just a doc I was playing around testing with so I'm not worried about it and admittedly I would be very careful if I was planning on spending any time on a document or if it was important. but it got me to thinking is there a way to access back up files in case of doing something dumb? No big deal if there isn't I'm just curious.
  15. I just had a quick play with creating tables and calendars and I discovered that a table can be saved as an asset. So a calendar page could be set up and saved as an asset and easily dropped on a page.
  16. Thank you Dave for responding Knowing that e-publications will be supported in the future is a good thing.
  17. I would like to add my voice to this! it seems that not having the functionality to create e-books and e-publications of all kinds is missing out on a huge market. I did a quick search of this forum for "epub" and got 7 pages of results. So to the folks at Serif: Will it be added in the future?
  18. I've just posted An Affinity assets file that contains a large assortment of spirals in my little shop https://www.x5tuts-marketplace.com/item/spirals-for-affinity/ There are basic circular and multi sided spirals. Each spiral is a simple vector curve that can be edited in Affinity Designer.
  19. Thanks alfred and I'm glad that this little macro is proving useful
  20. I'm glad folks have been finding these brushes useful To answer char_zard if you double click the brushes in designer(pixel persona) or Photo to open the brush editing dialogue you will see that brushes 3,4,and 5 share the same starting texture and I have achieved different results by experimenting with different settings. #4 has a high rotation jitter and it is set to random on the dynamics tab. The texture was created from an image of bubble wrap with B&W and Threshold adjustments.
  21. been playing around this afternoon with some different methods of creating custom brushes. Thought I'd share some of the results. this small group of 5 brushes will work in both affinity photo and Designer (Pixel Persona) There are a couple that might make interesting borders, and some that just make interesting grunge or painterly effects experimental Brushes.afbrushes
  22. I enjoyed my look around Affinity Spotlight. so much interesting stuff! I really enjoyed the behind the scenes article about Paolo Limoncelli.
  23. Interesting! The more I work with the affinity programs and the more I learn the more I like them I am wondering if Publisher will have the same colour space options when it arrives?
  24. Depending on where you live you may have begun to wonder but spring is coming! Done in Affinity Photo with textures and photos and brush work. it was a really good project to practice painting in on masking layers.
  25. It would be wonderful to have some of these sites! Pixabay would be awesome.
