I have decided to just wait and see what happens but I  will not be building the new business that I  have been wanting  to do  I  think that this will could go like Xara/Magix
They still sell their Designer pro non subscription but you if you don't  get the subscription  there is no assets in the designs  gallery  so no templates no smart shapes just imagine Affinity designer with only squares and ellipses  and everything else behind that subscription pay wall  then next to go wad the Xara Xone a teaching and resource site it was scrapped and the community tutorials put behind a ridiculous site that you can't search and no one uses any more and nothing new was ever  added again
Then the Magix crapp software that was cobbled on to the Xara software 
I  switched to Affinity once I  could run it on my Pc to to get away  from all of that  was happy and enjoyed Affinity apps   now here we go again
So  I  will wait and see if serif/ canva  prove me wrong  I hope they do

I will wait and see what happens  but I  won't  hold out much hope  they will add features and content that will be subscription only that is what a subscription is all about
Canva will make changes  its their company now and they  call the shots  
I  truly hope I am wrong but  I  saw as a member of the forum team at Xara  and had access to info that wasn't  public  that what went down with Xara and Magix  was not good   I  can easily  see the same thing happening  here 
So to Ash,  Patrick and the rest of the Affinity team  I  truly would love for Canva to prove me wrong   let's hope they do
 

Another Software company that sells out   I came to Affinity  because of the crapshow that become Xara and its product line when they sold out to Magix  
Now Affinity  have done the same  just wait til canvas start bolting on their crappy add ons Canvaffinity here we come
Just wait til Canva starts cutting costs whereever and whoever they can
Just wait til there is a subscription fee snuck in first as an optional thing but before you know it you will need that subscription to get the best new features and new content 
So where do we go now ?  For me I  am  now a hobbiest  and  once the  crap show begins just like magix did with Xara  I will find a new hobby 
I have seen this before now we are about to see it again  Apparently the folks at Affinity didn't learn from Xara's mistakes   Because no matter what you promise now You are no longer calling the shots the software,  the company and your loyal customers are now at Canva' s  mercy

I've just  posted An Affinity assets file that contains a large assortment of spirals in my little shop

There are basic circular and multi sided spirals.  Each spiral is a simple vector curve that can be edited in Affinity Designer.

messing around with the vector warping this time I warped text around a sphere  one thing I found and this may be already known but you select the warp group and apply effects it only applies the effects in the original bounding box  however select the text layer within the warp group and apply the FX to that and all works fine

I am able to repeat this but I'm not sure if its known or not any way here is exactly what i am doing
1. create 2 vector shapes with the shape tool and add them to make a compound shape
2. clip a bitmap into the shape as a child layer
3.apply 3Dfx  to the shape and add a colour overlay fx with 50% transparency
4.  create some text and place on top of the shape
5.apply bevel fx to text and set transparency to 50%
6. group text and shape
7. layer menu  >vector warp group >mesh
8. add extra nodes to mesh beta crashes

There could be lots of uses for spirals from plant illustrations to Greek meanders to logo design 

Serif DrawPlus (Windows only) has a Spiral Tool.

Just to let you know, I've moved your post to the Feedback section of the Affinity Forums - as it's better suited here.
Unfortunately our developers don't tend to comment on Feedback requests, but this will be taken into consideration by our team for a future update.
Equally, V1 of the Affinity apps are no longer receiving new feature updates, since we released Affinity V2 last year.
Therefore if this tool were to be implemented into Affinity, it would be in a future update of V2 or beyond.
I hope this clears things up.

3rd time in 2 days that I end up here because Affinity Designer lacks the most fundamental tools... absolutely unbelievable.
I just checked:
Aldus/Adobe Freehand MX (2002): spiral tool present
AI (CS 6): spiral tool is there
Corel Draw 2019: spiral too available
Rhino CAD: has spiral tool
Inkscape: yup, has a spiral tool

Affinity Designer V1.10.5 (end of 2022): NIX, NADA, NOTHING
Unbelievable. I'm slowly beginning to suspect that AD is optimized for the quick production of flashy eye candy but not for the professional development of user interfaces, diagrams, illustration, technical documentation or how-tos...

You could add "VectorStyler" (Mac/Windows) to your list
it has this tool and many more that you might
also miss in AD.

3. More presets with sliders for different classic envelope distortions - typically those used for typography like; flag, rising side warp, etc.
4. Add modification key to allow symmetrical warping (ex. pull nodes on left and right side toward center at same time). 
5. Allow option for node snapping (ex. level with another node,) when editing mesh. 
6. Allow options for 45 and 90 degree movement lock when moving nodes or handles while holding SHIFT.

I know you just released v2 and all the old v1 feedback and suggestion forums were removed but I need serif to make a separate feature requests and suggestions forum for each v2 product because this whole forum is about to get messy. Lets get organized.
