  1. Thank you for that info. I will endeavour to do that from now on. I am still puzzled as to how the icons got changed as I had been using V2 right up to the update of V2 and i don't remember ever having to change the icons after version updates before but never mind all is well again Thanks again Cheers Edward
  2. OK everyone I have found it. I think for some reason I must have forgotten to change the shortcut icon from 1 to 2, Pheeeeewwwwww. The only ? I have now is I seem to have lost the shadow overlays I bought for V1. Are they hidden somewhere now or gone for good. Once again thank you to everyone for your help here with this issue and my apologees for not noticing what I had not done which caused all this. Cheers Edward
  3. Thanks V_KYR From my quick checks so far I think I am using V1 again. I do not know what has happened to the V2 that I downloaded. I will post again when I have figured it out. Cheers Edward
  4. Well I am reeling a bit from all the info here. Thanks everybody for all the help and info. It is very much appreciated. I have not yet tried out any of the suggestions as I need to reread them to understand everything first but one question sprang out to me. How do you know it is the V1 interface please? I cannot see anything to tell me that. Yes I do have both versions I assume on the laptop so I will look into deleting V1 if that is my problem. And yes RC-R that is exactly what I see as well. Plus I saw someone mentions v 2.1 but my ine is version 1.10 xxxx Cheers Edward.
  5. Thank you for the reply. I understand what you meant now. I was not aware you could dc in explorer to open affinity files so another learning day. Yes I have the OM-1 ( Of course I would have it that is my luck exactly). Windows can see the photos OK and I can see the thumbnails fine when opening a folder with ORF files in it. I shall attatch an ORF file. It is a shot of a Crown. It is not visible in the thumbnail here after attatching it. P8310325.ORF
  6. Hi Lee Sorry life has been rather busy and I have only just got back to this. I sent the message via the help option I am pretty sure but I will try and do a screen shot. As I use two screens the image is both screens and I do not know how to split them. The affinity one is the right hand one which I assume is clear. Psenda I am sorry but I do not quite understand what you mean with your comment. I open via File open (and then the folder I want) file I need. This has worked for me for years ok right up to the update. Just to be very clear I use w10 and V1 would not open ORF files. V2 would when I upgraded no problem. As soon as I installed the update that was it. It was back to V1 result when trying to open ORF files.
  7. Hi Windows 11 laptop. I upgraded from V1 to V2 a while back and I was able to open raw files (ORF) with no problem. Since the update I can no longer open them. The picture does appear in the thumbnail next to the file name in the folder but trying to open it produces the same two tone blank that V1 used to show. Anyone know why this has happened? I have sent two messages to Serif but they have been ignored. Edward Walker
  8. I had a go Paul last night and I see how that works. That is a neat idea and looks like it may well be a solution I can use. Thank you again. Along with Richard and Alberts help I should be able to achieve my aim to be able to print out quickly and save a lot of time. Thanks again Edward
  9. Thanks Richard I will give this a go later today time permitting. I have tried searching the help section but it is difficult to find infomation unless you know the exact title of the info you want it seems to me. Never find the help section a really great help to be honest. Ok for very general stuff. But looks like I can do what I want to do now thanks to the members of this forum which will really help me speed up my projects for which I am very grateful. Cheers Edward
  10. Thankyou Paul I shall be playing with that later today or tomorrow. Cheers Edward
  11. Thanks to all of you for your imput Paul I do not know what you mean by the resample option but I will look into it later to see if I can understand it a bit better Alfred Cheers I never thought of that but I can see how that would work. A couple of steps so to speak but I would get it right first time which is the bonus I am looking for. Richard If the crop presets are the options that are under the driver options in the print dialog box then that is what I use and where the problem is. For example I crop a photo to what I want. Go to the print select the size and then select fit to printable and that is where the problem is as it is either to narrow or to short to fit exactly so then back to the photo to crop a bit more etc to get it to fit. If i have misunderstood your comment then sorry please put me straight. I just want to crop a photo with the crop tool to exactly fit for example a 5" * 3" or a 10" * 8" before I go to the print option. Once again everyone many thanks for taking the time to answer my question. Much appreciated. Edward
  12. HI all I would like to be able when cropping a photo to have a way of cropping it to fit the paper I am going to print on. At present I can only do this by cropping to what I judge to be about right, then going to the print box seeing the result, and then going back to re crop edges etc to get it to fill the print box properly. Unless there is a way to do this that I cannot find could this be done as I would find it an absolute boon and time saver. Of course if there is a way to do this I would appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction. Cheers Edward
  13. Many thanks to everbodywho has joined this thread. It has been very instructive to see what everyone has done and the paths they took to get the effects. I will next week be attempting to try these options as my learning option for any future photos that come my way. It is amazing the effects you can produce with Affinity for sure and again many thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions.
  14. Hi Sorry to be a bit slow in replying but I was away from the computer over the weekend and this forum wouldn't allow me to log on for some reason. The photo was taken in the 80's and is about twice the size of a 35mm thumbnail in reality. However I have hopefully attached the photo to this message so any pointers will be gratefully received.Scan two Final zz.afphoto
  15. Hi all. Could someone point me to a video or help please. I am trying to save a photo of two women for someone that was taken with a flash and was way overexposed, The flash has pretty much blown out a white blouse on one of them and the faces and skin tones are also pretty well blown out. Focus may also be a bit out but that can be ignored. I have tried searching around on here and utube but cannot find anything that really shows me how best to set about this. My efforts with filters etc so far tend to bring up a mixed bag with strange lines appearing or weird shadows rearing their ugly heads so if anyone does know of a video or tutorial that can get me going I would appreciate it. Cheers Edward
  16. Many thanks for answering my question. I will be trying to follow these directions later on this week. Sorry a bit slow answering but have been a bit busy lately but thanks again. Edward
  17. Hi I installed and bought several brushes and other plugins to affinity photo v1. Can I move them over to v2. If so how please ??? Cheers Edward
  18. Hi does Affinity photo v2 open OM1 raw files yet does anyone know please
  19. Hi Anyone know when Affinity Photo will bring out an update to support OMD OM1 camera files please. Or whereto go to find out???
  20. Why does it seem impossible to select the actual size of a print that you want. I have set the print to custom and adjusted the photo to the size by clicking the pixal box and then chosing ie ins and cropping the photo to the size I want. When it prints it is not at the size I set and the help section doesn't seem to have any info on it of any use. Edward Walker
  21. Hi. I am trying to take a photo on an A4 page and display it as 4 separate photos on another page. I dont seem able to do that but I seem to rememmber in Page Plus you could do that. If someone could point my in the right direction please I will be grateful. Page plus is not on this new computer or I would check my memory is not playing tricks. I tried to do it with tables but that didnt work. Cheers Edward
  22. OK I can now say this might not be an affinity problem as I only seem to get the message when I upload photos with Nikons ViewNX 2 program. It doesn't appear when I upload straight to affinity. So many thanks for the help so far. I will go to Nikons help now and see what help is there Cheers Edward Walker
  23. Well trust this to happen. I just tried loading a few raw files and the message didn't appear. So I took a few more sitting here in the lounge and they uploaded ok as well. Not sure now when I had my last affinity update. Not that long back as I only use this laptop for photos and a few other things so it can go a week or so before it is used. I am doing some photos over Xmas with family so I will see what happens in a weeks time. No matter what I will let you know what the result is and thank you for the help. I just hate it when errors cannot be reproduced. Cheers Edward Walker
  24. Thanks for the replies. I have a nikon d500. I have checked the lists and the camera is listed as well as the 3 lens I have. That being so what is the next thing to check? Cheers Edward
  25. Hi Affinity 1.6 on windows 10. Nikon NEF raw files. Every time I use Affinity and import a nef raw file I get the message "Lens control profiles missing. This file cannot be edited as a raw file. Can anyone please tell me how to get these profiles so I can edit as a raw file. Cheers Edward Walker
