Thank you both. So far it looks I will be able to move to an efficiency apartment at a place for seniors in two weeks. And either stay there or move back home when my old apartment building is restored.

Sorry in advance about not being able to come up with new LUTs for some time. On April 23 (my 72nd birthday), a neighbor left a cigarette butt on his balcony, which resulted in a fire. I was awakened by the police at 1 am and taken out of the building. I have been staying in hotels and looking for a place to live for the next five months or so it is supposed to take before the building is ready for people to move back in. Meanwhile my things, including my computers are in a storage facility. I am using my cell phone to post this, but I need my computer to create more LUTs. Thanks for your understanding.

Better compatibility with Wine

Welcome to the real world. We don’t always get what we want. We just have to work with what is available. I, for example, would prefer to run all my software under FreeBSD. And since windows has no BSD layer, I have it harder than you with your desire to run everything under Linux. There’s even an acronym for the situation: WYGIWYG (What you get is what you get). -
Interesting, even if you got the years wrong. Year of the Monkey, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, etc. I happen to know because I was born in a year of the tiger (1950, April 23) and my best friend was born in 1956, year of the monkey. According to Chinese astrology people born in a year of +6 or -6 years of your own will never be your friend, yet we are friends.

Better compatibility with Wine
AdamStanislav replied to rnmartinez's topic in Feedback for the V1 Affinity Suite of Products
Strange dichotomy here. Windows 11 includes (optionally) a subsystem that allows Linux software to be fully incorporated in the Windows environment, including GUI and the clipboard, completely seamlessly. Linux includes (also optionally) Wine that alleges to allow Windows software to be run under Linux. But it is not seamless? Then fix Wine! I do not see users of Windows requesting Linux software to be made more compatible with the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), so why should any Windows software be changed to be compatible with Wine? Just as it is up to the WSL to be compatible with Linux to run Linux applications, it is up to Wine to be compatible with Windows applications, not up to Windows applications to be compatible with Wine. If Wine cannot handle Affinity software for Windows, complain to the Wine team to fix Wine, not to Serif to fix Affinity. Or just do what most of us who need to run software for both Windows and Linux do: Use the Windows that has most likely come pre-installed with your computer anyway, and add WSL (it is free). Then you can run all Linux apps your heart desires and Affinity (and other Windows software) on the same computer. -

What printer? Make and model? And have you calibrated it? Also, have you calibrated your monitor? Also remember, printers use the CMYK color model, while monitors use the RGB color model. -
Well, since this was marked as confusing, let me elaborate. In trigonometry you can draw a circle of the radius = 1 with the center at the start of the Cartesian coordinates (i.e., [x,y] = [0,0]). Then if you draw any line from the [0,0] in any direction, it will cross through the circumference of the circle at the point of [x = cos α, y = sin α], where α is the angle between that line and the positive side of the x-coordinate. Therefore, if α = 0°, then x = cos 0° = 1, y = sin 0° = 0; if α = 90°, then x = cos 90° = 0, y = sin 90° = 1, etc. That makes 0° at the rightmost point of the circle and 90° at the topmost point of the circle. In other words, in trigonometry/geometry/mathematics the angles start at 0° on the right end and grow in the counterclockwise direction. In computer graphics, it is common for the top left pixel of an image to be at [x,y] = [0,0] and the x-coordinate grows to the right, while the y-coordinate grows downwards. This is not universal (e.g. PostScript places the bottom left at [0,0]) but very common as it avoids using negative numbers in the y-coordinates. SVG does it that way, Windows BMP images do, and so do many other graphic files and applications. In that case, HSL may be shown with 0° on the right, but increasing angles clockwise instead of counterclockwise simply because of the way the y-coordinate is presented. I hope this clears up any confusion.

I have just tested it, and Affinity does it correctly according to standard mathematical convention, where 0° is at X=1, Y=0 of the coordinates of a unit circle (the circle centered at X=0, Y=0, with radius r = 1) and then the angles are increased counterclockwise (so 90° is at X=0, Y=1, that is to say on the top of the circle). This is high school trigonometry.

The what file? mp3 is the extension of compressed sound files. I am pretty sure Affinity Photo does not create sound files. Even if it did, it is rather pointless to insert them into zip files. -
