  1. Allan, Sorry I'm late to the party but congratulations on publishing your own book, that is something that many people dream about doing but for some reason or another they never get around to it. I love the type (or font) on your My Strawberry Monkey logo. Is that your own writing/drawing or is it an actual font? It is great to see what people have made using Affinity's products! Hokusai
  2. ONSO, Thanks for the kinds words. At the bottom there is the option to either "Drag files here to attach, or choose files...." and I just clicked on the "choose files" and then added the images that I wanted to add. Hokusai
  3. jobeyb, Sorry the Macros won't work for what you need. I wasn't sure if it would work or not but I thought I would mention it. Best of luck, Hokusai
  4. I made this piece as a part of a presentation that I had to make recently to a potential client. It is based on a woodblock print by Kuniyoshi and the original name of the print is Princess Takiyasha summons a skeleton spectre to frighten Mitsukuni. I've never seen an original print of this that was in good shape and I thought it was a shame because it is a very nice print so I decided to make my own version (with a few changes here and there). I hope you enjoy. Hokusai
  5. jobeyb, Have you tried creating a Macro for the two actions that you'd like to repeat? Hokusai
  6. km.au, You can add the Art board tool to Designer by going to View/Customize tools and then you'll see the "art board" icon, it has a dotted blue line around a page. Hokusai
  7. cyberhusky, I wouldn't think that the developers would be able to add the ability to import Apple Pages files. They have said before that you'll be able to import PDF files though. Hokusai
  8. I don't think it is Illustrator's Blend tool that is on the Roadmap, I think it is Designer's Blend tool that is on the Roadmap (or it might be Affinity's Blend tool).
  9. Currently if you need to delete a lot of nodes, using the Node tool hold the shift key and select all the nodes that you want to delete and then hit the delete key once and they're gone.
  10. I'd like to know how Affinity Photo or Designer fits in with this? Was either program used to make these?
  11. frankstallone, I don't think it was ever listed on the roadmap. It has been brought up and talked about by the developers but I don't remember it ever being listed on the roadmap for version 1. There are things that weren't listed on the roadmap that have been added so it is still possible.
  12. Afrowave, The only thing that I've been able to come up is to isolate similar items that I might want to change later all on their own layer. This doesn't always work of course but in some cases it can help make it easier. Best of luck, Hokusai
  13. nwhit, My memory seems to recall things a little differently. I'm not sure but your post seems to imply that Indesign was released not long after Adobe bought Pagemaker, but it was 5 years later (and a long five years if you had to use Ragemaker everyday). Adobe bought Pagemaker from Aldus in 1994 and they didn't release Indesign until 1999. As well Adobe didn't buy Freehand from Aldus, they bought it from Macromedia who had purchased it from Aldus. Maybe I read your post wrong? I don't think you can compare the transition from Pagemaker to Indesign in regards to transitioning file from Indesign to Affinity Publisher. Pagemaker and Indesign are owned by the same company, which Affinity Publisher and Indesign aren't. As well Adobe had a legion of developers and while Serif has some very talented developers, no doubt they are fewer in number compared to those at Adobe.
  14. A voting system isn't needed as Psenda has kindly posted a quote from Patrick indicating that. That doesn't mean that the developers don't listen, they do. They listen to users who make civil, well reasoned requests. Users who make a good case for the features that they would like to see added. I personally have never seen or heard about a company that has their developers actively engage with users on their forum. Not only are the developers actively engaging with users, they do so in a manner that is both polite and helpful. Not something you'll see often.
  15. tosicity, Are you talking about the splash screen? I like the current Splash screen, I think it looks pretty cool. Hokusai
  16. Fravin, Sorry I can't remember if this is how to solve your problem but if I remember correctly try the Preferences/Tools/ Move Tool Aspect Constrain. You have three choices and I'm guessing that you have the automatic one selected but you want one of the other two. Best regards, Hokusai
  17. dominik, No worries, it was Mithferion's suggestion! For me the " / " is also useful as it clears the colour (and it can clear the stroke colour too if you have it in front). Hokusai
  18. Yes, https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/55585-really-need-publisher/, read MEB's second post in the thread.
  19. Rick G, I'm pretty sure that the developers have stated that they don't plan on Affinity Publisher having the ability to import PagePlus files other than if you export your PagePlus files as PDF files, then you'd be able to do it. Hokusai
  20. VFXTobias, Hello and welcome to the forums! I completely agree with you, it is nice to be able to get away from Adobe. Everyone is excited for Affinity Publisher so even more people can escape from Adobe-world. Hokusai
  21. MEB, I noticed the same thing as GRScott. I launched the previous beta and it went ahead and launched. It never instructed me to download a newer version but because I had seen Matt's post, I knew that there was a newer version. Hokusai
  22. Here is another one where MEB talks about the DAM
  23. jackamus, This has been requested before and I believe that the developers said that it would be added to Publisher (as Step and Repeat). I agree, it would be a very useful addition to Designer. Hopefully they will add it to Designer after they release Publisher. Hokusai
  24. Milos, Nice work, I've dabbled with type design but I've never actually made an entire font from scratch but it is only list of things to do! There is another user here that does comic book lettering. I've seen him around for a while but his user name is Jim_Campbell and his website is http://clintflickerlettering.blogspot.com. It's worth a read if you have time. Jim is a nice guy and very knowledgeable about lettering. Hokusai
