  1. Thanks for your reply. You guys are so good at responding here. So these 200 vector brushes aren't strictly vector at all, not even in Affinity Designer. I was already sure that the textured brushes weren't vector, but it's disappointing to find these new brushes aren't either. Anything lined up to add true vector brushes a la Adobe Illustrator to the road map of new features? Bob.
  2. Please can anyone help, I have downloaded and installed the box set brushes and when adding a stroke to text and selecting a brush (ie Estavez in the Turbo Rad Set) upon exporting as a .pdf the font is vector but the stroke is rasterized. I've tried all the pdf export settings, plus those for .wmf and others but can get no vector strokes. (see attached) The stroke in Affinity Designer also does not look like a vector object. Bob,
  3. Looks like Dell have joined the party - link - http://www.theverge.com/2016/11/2/13500308/dell-just-teased-its-own-surface-studio-pc Bob.
  4. It's a bit of a deal-breaker for me, I don't really want to switch applications to disable fonts in Suitcase, when a font search facility in AD would solve the problem. Whilst on the subject, is there any reason why the font list couldn't be extended to accommodate more fonts on view at a time, 25 in the list would help.
  5. Very pleased to report that installing beta 1.0.5.14 has fixed the problem I was having with the Font List closing down Affinity at random points during scrolling through the fonts. All seems to be working normally now. I 'd like to thank all those involved in this fix, One happy bunny, Bob.
  6. @ Mark, will do. Thanks for the information. @ dominik, thanks for your comments, I've managed to pare my fonts down to 28 in the system folder, and there are 152 in the Windows folder. I can almost see the tumbling tumbleweeds! Bob.
  7. Hi Mike, It's DFGothic-EB Regular - it's one that must have come bundled with a program I installed at some time. I certainly don't recall downloading it. Following on from that one are a few others with the DF prefix: DFKaiSho-SB Regular and then DFMincho-SU Regular, then DF Mincho-UB Regular, DFMincho-W5 Regular, DFPOP1-W9 Regular followed by Ebrima, also not knowingly installed by me and then Embassy BT Regular. All of these are in the System Folder and have subsequently been deactivated in Suitcase. EngraversGothic BT Regular is next, which is one installed by me. Following all these are Exotc350 Bd BT Bold and then Exotc350 DMBd BT Demi-Bold, again not knowingly installed by me. The Font List then crashes every time at this point with the next font in the Windows Font Folder being Fixedsys Regular, which is not something I would ever install of my own free will! Bob.
  8. I did a system restore back to before 1.5.0.12 was released. I currently have system fonts only activated on my pc (340 of them-seems a lot to me-even Comic Sans). I can now access the font dropdown menu without a problem but I can not scroll past more than a few fonts before Affinity closes. The fonts at the bottom of the font list prior to shutdown are Exotic 350 Bold BT, Engravers Gothic BT, Embassy BT, Ebrima, 3 X Deja Vu fonts and DeVinne Txt BT - which is the last that I was able to successfully select. I can think of nothing else to try short of a Windows install and a removal of all but a scant few fonts. and add fonts one by one until the problem occurs again. I do have access to a Windows 10 Laptop, but that has the same fonts installed on it as my main pc. I will try installing 1.5.0.12 on that laptop when time permits. Thanks for all the help from everyone. EDIT: The laptop I tried to install Affinity on is Windows 32 bit. That's the end of that chapter. Bob.
  9. Thanks, Mark. I've tried pretty much everything I can think of. I've uninstalled and then reinstalled the program as an administrator but the problem persists. I've copied a string of text from Illustrator in a particular font (Snackbar Script) and pasted it into Affinity, which recognises it, and I am able to edit and resize it in Affinity. But it crashes as soon as I try to change the font. The program is pretty much useless to me now as what I do is probably 95% font-related. I've shied away from reinstalling Windows as I've recently uninstalled Windows 10 and reverted to Windows 8.1 because of multiple problems and 8.1 is working fine for me now. I'm tempted to do a system restore to before the problem started, but if it is a rogue font, which is obviously working fine in Xara Designer, Illustrator and CorelDraw then the hassle of checking each font individually and restarting Affinity each time is too much to bear. Unless anyone else has any suggestions... Bob.
  10. I have now reinstalled 1.5.0.12 and deactivated all except the system fonts. I opened a new file and typed a couple of words which were in Arial, the default font. As soon as I clicked on the font dropdown box the program shut down with an error message "An Unhandled Exception has occurred. Code: 0x80004003" Upon restart I get the Crash Reporter Reference: 69abf12e-da33-41ee-9962-af578fda6879. Bob.
  11. Going back in time to 1.5.0.11 hasn't helped. I'm going back to the future now. I'm in the process of deactivating all my font sets and just leaving the system fonts active. Then I will reactivate each set individually and see if this trial-and-error method uncovers some rogue fonts. I may be gone some time... Bob.
  12. Hi Mike, Resetting Fonts hasn't done it. @Mark I scroll down with the mouse pointer over the vertical scroll bar or over the font names list, it makes no difference. The problem is intermittent as I have subsequently worked using the Desire font. If I reopen the Desire File, I scroll upwards and/or downwards and the program crashes at an arbitrary point in both directions. I don't think I can have that many duff fonts on my system. I'm going to uninstall 1.5.0.12 and go back to 1.5.0.11 and see what happens. Bob.
  13. Well, I've scrolled down the font list and the problem happens when I reach Blonde Script at the bottom of the window. But I'm not actually selecting any font at the time. Occasionally I can scroll down past this point without the problem, but when the next font below comes into view (Blondie), Affinity shuts down. I have deactivated both these fonts in Suitcase 6 but the problem still occurs when I reach the point in the list where these fonts would have appeared. Working normally in Illustrator CC19 and Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 12. Bob.
  14. OK. I'll scroll v-e-r-y- s-l-o-w-l-y though the font list and see if it is the same font(s) each time. Bob.
  15. Thanks for the speedy response. This happens before I even select a font from the list. Sometimes I can select a font and work on it successfully (LHF Desire for example) but it seems quite random. Upon restarting I get the dialogue asking if I want to resume the file. Bob.
