Chatsworth House, Derbyshire, England. Two enormous carved lions, one sleeping, and one that looks as if you've just woken him up. I used Mesh Warp in AF to make all the different mouth shapes for speech and blinking eyes. The speech was poked and prodded in Audacity and GoldWave (it's a little creaky and a little sibilant -- but hey, who know what lion speech really sounds like?) I used Anime Studio (horrible software, but all I've got) to sync the mouth to the speech.

    Hey folks,

Been a wee while but I'm back at creating creatures with Affinity Designer (and paper & pencil). Instead of adding a new topic for every one I make, I thought I'd start this new thread to put them all in and show them off to you all.

So here's one for ya! :)

I have attached the 2 pictures I used plus the AP file.  Unfortunately most of the work in AP was destructive so you may not be able to see exactly what was done.

I have never been fond of Tone Mapping, until now, Most tone mapped pics I have seen before have always been overdone and looked really strange to me. Since I started to understand how to in using AffP Tone Mapping tools I find it very interesting and rewarding. This is one example...I hope you like it, Moos old farm next to where I live.

Either via transformation boundary box like in Gravit

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byzv_NlyKp_2Qk51a00zWG9uSm8/view

or via a transformation tool like pressing S defending a scalding center and then move the mouse to scale and rotate around it

If I missed this in Affinity please let me know. Using the transformation window doing symmetrical scaling is not really ideal

On macOS most apps like Pixelmator can directly import from the scanner using the build in scanner printer driver. Photoshop will use the scanner plug-in

Would be great if Affinity could do the same

Henry Stahle reacted to sirhans in Add location variables to slice export (DESIGNER)
    Hi,

I export UI design elements as slices from affinity designer and use them to design iOS apps. With each slice I export, I need to ensure that it's location in the Xcode interface builder is exactly the same as it was in affinity designer artboard. It would be wonderful if affinity designer wrote the x,y coordinates of each slice as it appears in the artboard into the file name. Then I could get pixel perfect layout in Xcode either by copying the coordinates by hand or by scripting something that derives the layout from the file name of the image.

To do this, all you would need to do is add location variables to the export filename options in export persona. Adding just "top" and "left" would be sufficient. Top, left, right, bottom, centreX, and centreY would be even more complete. Users who want to use these variables could then easily construct their own file export naming schemes to encode location information.

Thanks again for making great software

I'll be posting some of my photo-manipulation works in this thread. To get started I'll share this poster I made for a local electronic band. Hope you dig! I'll be uploading all my AP works to my FX Monkey project Twitter account too: @fxmonkey2

Henry Stahle got a reaction from Ben in Happy filtering in AffP
My interest in photography are old. Not as old as I am, but since I started with my own camera 1961, it is more than 60 years! I use a lot of filtering, mainly one app in my desktop computer, CameraBag Photo. A really great program. AffP is not the same, not as powerful for filtering, but can do things CameraBag can not. So I use them both. This is done all in Affinity Photo, no CameraBag support. I made it just to prove myself being capable to make (nearly) the same effects as in CB. Plus the ones CB cant make. I made it look like I wanted, like a memory from old days when I was a little boy. Nostagia of days gone by. A bit dreamy too, for me at least. Below is the original copy of the RAW out of camera.

Henry Stahle got a reaction from doeboy in My 2017 wishes for Affinity Designer and Photo from an illustrator point of view.
I would like to use Affinity Designer and Photo as my main tools for illustration I the future. I have already unsubscribed from Adobe CC and left the excellent Photoshop and Illustrator. Still there are some things that I like to see in Affinity Photo and Designer (Pixel Persona) to make them suite all my needs. I list them here:

Protect Alpha on each separate layer. Just like masking separate layers. Protect alpha is quicker, but both methods are good in their own way. The “global” protect alpha is a bit odd. Never seen that before. Separate layers protect alpha, please!
Free Rotate Canvas, not just 15o,15o, 15o….Photoshop got Free rotate canvas, Clip Studio got it, Painter got it, ArtRage got it…. so why not AffD and AffP?
Line Smoothing. Just like in Clip Studio or Lazy Nezumi … makes line drawing very much more easy when u use bitmap lines.
Pattern Creation tool for seamless patterns. I know you can make artboards to create them … it is a bit clumsy and takes some effort. I guess it is good for vector stuff, not so much for bitmaps, I think. In Corel Painter, it is very easy to make a seamless pattern or paper texture. It would be nice to see a tool like the one in Painter inside AffD and AffP in Pixel Persona.
Pattern Fill / Texture fill. Not only colour or gradient fill but also, just like in Clip Studio, ArtRage, Painter and Photoshop, where you also can make scalable texture and pattern fills.
Blue Sketch. Well, on importing a layer as reference or a graphite sketch it would be very convenient to make a Blue Sketch using just one click, just like in Clip Studio. I made a script for that, but an icon in the layer’s panel makes it quick and easy.
This is all I come up with for the moment.
I wish all fellow photographers and illustrators out there a fortunate 2017! The same for all the programmers and the rest in the Affinity / Serif team. You really have made some great software!

Henry Stahle reacted to Michelangelo_ in AD (only) Isometric Mock-up with Symbols
Hi guys, I've checked this video (at 1:10)

and this post about the Mock-up

Maybe I'm not the first to try this way but it works and I can edit all contents in real time without AP. The current version of AD does not support the Perspective Distortion but the isometric view is pretty nice ( you can add the PD through AP).     - Mock-up as a symbol. - duplicate the symbol, add a group (one of each face)  - add the vector crop tool and crop each face - add skew and rotate each face. - add shadows and light reflections to isometric view.     in the example you can edit the box and the isometric view reflect your modification.   DOWNLOAD TEMPALTE   Michelangelo ________ BTW, Another project with AD file: Medusa

Henry Stahle got a reaction from Alfred in Frosty Seaweed
I am always carrying my mobile phone in my pocket on my morning walks. I live on the West Coast of Sweden, right on the shore, next to the salty water of Kattegatt. The storm (Urd december 25 and 26) turned out to be a real bad one with strong winds just below Hurricane. My house was surrounded by water for some hours, but no damage done, luckily. Only the poor rats and rabbits rabbits drowned as they crawled back into the ground when the storm raised.

This morning the walk was along a shore, eroded and badly damaged by the water. The meadows along the shore were covered with all kinds of sea weeds. The frost had turned them into beautiful graphic objects, like this one. Tomorrow I will bring some other camera as I take my walk. I a m sure I will find some more great gfx objects... :)
