Selection and Cut not working

Firstly my system specs are Core i7 32Gig ram GTX1080 1tb SSD as C drive and cache I have recently noticed if I make a selection and go to cut or copy it …. not working properly The selection works fine.... but any attempt to cut or copy deletes the entire layer? even if I invert it...same problem. I do have images demonstrating this...see attached Charles

I Just downloaded Affinity designer Beta and it is awesome..... however much of my work is photo editing..... Is there a Affinity Photo Beta or will even buy it if its available Charles
