Just looked at a Mac tut on creating a new document and yes 'Layer1' is automatically created when the new document opens.

They look like layers to me however I understand what you're saying and agree with you re other graphic programs.
I just thought this is the way AD goes about creating the first layer of a new document ...because of the vector and pixel personas?
Perhaps this is a Windows bug?

Hi MaryLou - you don't have to create a layer, that is your first layer in a new document. It's created automatically when, with a tool selected (ie pen, text, rectangle etc), you click in the new document.

+1 :)
The pattern making courses on Skillshare are amongst the most popular courses.
...and as we're all aware patterns are everywhere - from website backgrounds through to clothing, consumable products...you name it!
I would like to see a pattern tool as part of a persona that includes mesh, warp, perspective, blend, shape builder and other suchlike tools.

Yeah, Win 8.1 (*^$%&)
While I never had an issue with my Nvidia card with 8.1 per se, with both cards I wasn't able to run Broken Sword 3 - The Sleeping Dragon (gog.com). No problems at all with the other four in the series though.
Upgraded to Win 10 - no issues whatsoever. Runs perfectly!
Hopefully Win 8.1 will not be an achilles heel for the devs

Hi affiniDAW, I have a similar setup - ie Asus ROG GT750JS i7, Nvidia GTX 870m, Win 10 and have no issues using either the Intel integrated or the Nvidia card.
If you haven't already try right clicking on Affinity desktop shortcut or the .exe in Program Files - Serif - Affinity Designer Public Beta. In the right click menu you should be able to choose which graphics processor to run with without opening the Nvidia control panel (it will only open if you choose the third option 'Change default graphics processor').
