  1. Issue:
    Battery shows not charging and drop extremely fast when editing heavy document in Designer, and resume charging when I switch to another application. It's not happening before 1.10.4(?) as I remembered, that's a big issue for me, now I have to go back to Windows PC for editing, fortunately I've bought all affinity software on both platforms.

    Document:
    - More than 1000 elements
    - Embedded another heavy document

    Hardware:
    - MacBook Pro (16' 2019)
    - 2.3G Intel Core i9
    - 16G 2667 MHz DDR4
    - AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 4G / Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

    Software:
    - Affinity Designer 1.10.4 with Metal acceleration enabled

    OS:
    - macOS 10.15.7 Catalina

    Battery Info reported by Wattagio:
    - Charge Cycles: 246
    - Health Status: Good
    - Summary: battery will reach is maximum cycles count in 6 years

  2. adbug-1111a.thumb.png.cdb73cc9c1cd67e9f44202b3aa59c5a5.png

    Steps:
    1. Drag the blank.afdesign document (an empty document saved with size 400x300px) and drop to main document
    2. Double-click the embedded document, add an artistic text object with size: 728x195, and then insert an Artboard from selection
    3. Go back to the main document, you'll see the embedded document's size is 400x300, and render in wrong position & size
        - The "Page Box" has only one option: "TrimBox"
    4. Try to save the document, a warning msg shows: "Save failed because the file could not be written to."
    5. The file has been saved in fact, but can't be open, this msg shows: "Failed to open file, the file type is not supported."
        - Please see attachment: adbug-1111a.afdesign

    6. Relaunch Design and a dialog ask for restore the file, I choose yes, and I save it to the same location with this name: adbug-1111b.afdesign
        - This file can be saved without CAN NOT SAVE warning, but the layer size still buggy.

    7. Close the file(adbug-1111b.afdesign) and Re-open again, I found the "Page Box" has three options now: "TrimBox", "Minimum Content" and "Maximum Content" which is correct. But when I edit the text in embedded document and then go back to the main, I got the render result as screenshot above, text's x position has a little negative shift, tail shows when reposition the embedded document layer, and it's very close to expect render result this time. I save the file with naming: adbug-1111c.afdesign (also attached).

    OS: MacOS 10.15.7
    Software: Affinity Designer 1.10.4

  3. Document created using CMYK/8 Japan Color Coated 2001 profile, when exporting PDF, the page which contains imported sRGB photo will show as sRGB color space in photoshop import(pdf) dialog. All export settings not working including "Convert image color spaces" and "Embed color profiles", only "Soft proof Adjustment" filter works, but it will crash the application in some large documents, tried in Publisher & Designer with no luck.

    Software: Affinity Publisher 1.10.4
    MacOS: 10.15.7

    HI @WaveF I've tried to recreate this on both macOS 10.12.6 & 11.4 and the linked document was still at 50% when reopened.

    Is there a specific number of linked images you need? Or maybe a specific file type? I tried a PNG on one and a JPEG on the other.

    Sorry, I forgot to mention file type of linked document, it's another .afdesign file, I use it with difference artboard setting as a component library.

  5. Steps to reproduce:

    1. Put Linked document (file type: .afdesign) to Main.afdesign;
    2. Change all Linked document layers' opacity to 50%;
    3. Save and close Main.afdesign;
    4. Re-open Main.afdesign;

    Expected result:

    • Linked document layers' opacity value should be 50%;

    Actual result:

    • All linked document layers' opacity value AUTO RESET to 100%;

    Environment:

    • macOS 10.15.7
    • Affinity Designer 1.10.1

    What is the fix once you select one of them? And what do you mean by "select" in this context?

    Is the issue merely in on-screen rendering, or does it carry over into an exported file?

    - Linked document show as mosaic, when I select one of them, and then zoom in or zoom out the view, the selected layer return to normal.
    - It's not affected the export file, so it's only an on-screen rendering issue.

    Screen recording:

  7. I've used heavy amount of Linked document layers in several projects, all linked document shows as mosaic grids in 1.10.x, need to select one by one to correct the rendering result, I think it's a common issue in 1.10.*

    Screen capture:

    It's ok for showing mosaic effect to speed up the rendering in some cases, but I also use linked document as theme skin replacement for some projects...(you can imagine almost 70% layers become mosaic in that document, it will make me stay on 1.9.3 forever 😭  ), so I think maybe there will be an option to allow user to enable/disable this great speed up improvement?

    Then maybe I should point out that I'll be using that feature to use with Spine (2D animation program) Since Affinity already has a batch builder specifically for Spine.

    Thank you.

    You can select all elements, open 'Layer Effects' panel and add the Outline effect with any stroke width & 0% opacity, then create slices for all elements, slices will expand space around them.

  9. Please watch attached video for details, when I open Assets panel, Designer crash, and finally I found that it's a custom asset's problem, when I import a new assets file Designer doesn't crash, and when I switch back to that custom asset, Designer will crash again, I want to export that BUG-ASSETS for affinity dev team, and remove that item from my assets panel list, but I can't, so hopefully this screen rec will help.

  10. I have an external monitor, and I am trying to drag PDF file into Designer, it should be a PDF dialog appear but there isn't, it seems to PDF dialod auto move far away from 2 monitors and NO WAY to bring it back, then Designer was hang in there, mac will play a sound telling me I have click a place outside the active window when I click anywhere, and press all keys in keyboard with not luck to close that hidden PDF dialog, I have to FORCE QUIT Designer to continue use it (can not save any opened documents).

    This bug exists on macOS 10.15.7, Designer 1.8.6 and below, and only happen when DRAG PDF into app, it's no problem if use File Menu to open PDF.

    @WaveF, are you in Separate Mode? Are you using more than 1 monitor?

    @SPaceBar, it seems to be related to this logged issue:

    I also can reproduce this issue in AD v183 when moving the Swatches Panel from one screen to the other, in my AD test from the external monitor to the internal (and back to the external for the screenshot). Both screens use the discrete GPU of the macbook.

    Yes, same situation, I don't know this issue has been logged :(
