I think this was a bug. Having closed Affinity and reopened it again, I am now able to crop the image I was having this problem with. The overlay appears as expected. At the time the problem occured though, the overlay was definitely set to Thirds Grid on the context toolbar. It wasn't simply set to "None" because the box around the edge of the image with the resizing controls didn't appear at all - regardless of the thirds grid across the image.

I've got two different images open in Affinity Photo. On one of them, when I click the Crop button on the left hand side, the thirds grid overlay appears above the image and I can crop it as expected. On the other one, when I click the crop button nothing happens. The overlay doesn't appear. Why is this, and what do I need to do to get this to show? I've tried clicking on and around the image but I can't get the overlay to show. Thanks, Luke
