  1. Thank you, I just tried that. Unfortunately it did not work. When scaling the texts by dragging them with the mouse pointer, all path texts are scaled as well, but not when entering the percentage in the Transform palette.
  2. When scaling many objects via the Transform palette by entering a percentage, e.g. for the width (50%), the path texts are not scaled as well. It does not matter if the checkbox "Scale with object" is set or not. However, such a scaling, i.e. via the percentage, is very important in order to precisely reduce or enlarge large files, e.g. maps.
  3. Thank you, that is also a good idea. But: The longer the path, the longer the arrowhead. And I need paths that have arrowheads at both ends.
  4. Yes, this works visually. However, this results in a shape, not a path. But I need paths that can also change direction.
  5. Thanks for your effort, I tried it. But since this is very time-consuming when editing larger graphics, custom arrowheads remain important for me after all. I hope they can be implemented soon.
  6. I need arrowheads for paths (not as a area) that are exactly as wide as the line width. Unfortunately this can't be set (yet) either (see screenshot), corners stick out at the sides. It would be especially nice if I could create my own arrowheads, like in Illustrator.
  7. Thanks a lot, just a moment ago I had already come up with this idea myself and while doing handicrafts It would be easier to implement this.
  8. Please add: dashed lines with more than 4 entries, so that a line pattern is created e.g. from two long strokes and one small stroke, as in Illustrator. Greetings, Claudia
  9. @prophet I experimented with your solution a little bit more and I can say that it works for me. Maybe in the future there will be easier ways to get layer structures in new, cut out documents, or to cut whole areas outside, but at least I have a workaround now. Thanks a lot! Greetings, Claudia
  10. Thank you, this is a very interesting approach and it works. The only problem is the selection. When I move around an area in the middle of a complex map with the selection tool, elements are moved. If I do this with "alt" + "control", elements that are not completely bypassed are deleted in the next step.
  11. @dominik Thank you, also a good idea, which I can certainly use for other projects. In any case I need - no matter how, whether as artboard, which can be exported or as slice or copy/paste of a selection ("lasso") - the transfer of the layer structure. By the way, in Illustrator this is "Remember layers when pasting" (see screenshot). P.S.: Thanks, the r is only missing in the layer palette
  12. @walt.farrell It is irrelevant whether with or without Artboard. The result must be a small section that retains exactly the layer structures of the original file. If I do it like you described, all external elements are preserved and I have very large files that I don't need. @prophet this is right.
  13. Thank you! It's real quite simple: When using copy/paste with a lasso, the layer structure should be 100% preserved, that's all I need 🙂 But unfortunately this does not work.
  14. Ok, I try I have large files, these are city maps. Often you have to create a section from them. This cutout will be modified and completed on its own afterwards, so I need all contained layers. But the original map is still needed in the original. I need the ability to cut out smaller areas from a large file and edit them as a new Affinitiy Designer file. On the screenshot: the new map should be a round section. In this cutout, further information is then entered or lines are added that should not be included in the original map.
  15. Hello Walt, hello dominik, Thank you very much. This works, but the elements I don't want to copy, i.e. everything outside the artboard, are still in the file. I can see this when I resize the artboard in the new file. That means it's just a different view of the cutout, but it's not really cropped.
  16. I had already created this topic here a few months ago: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/112705-keep-layer-structure-when-copying-to-new-file/&tab=comments#comment-610032 Now I want to start a new attempt. I'm still looking for a way to create smaller sections from a very complex graphic that retains the layer structure. In short: I need the possibility to export or copy/paste an artboard or a slice as a full new Affinity Designer file, with the layer structure preserved. I've had this possibility since FreeHand and Illustrator, unfortunately Affinity does not offer such a feature. Greetings, Claudia
  17. Hello, in Affinity Designer 1.8.4 I have found an error in the "Open curve" function. When I set a new point in a path, the control panel for "Open curve" is not activated. I have to select another point first, then again the point where I want to split the path to activate the panel. Claudia
  18. Align to cannot be selected. This problem exists in beta Affinity Publisher AND also in purchased Affinity Publisher/Designer/Photo.
  19. Thanks for your idea with the groups. It doesn't work for me the way I need it to. Because I only select a selection with the "lasso", so I don't want to copy everything within a group, then all groups are still copied into the new file. If I select single objects of the groups, the upper groups are not copied as well.
  20. Hello, Since I work with very complex graphic files (maps), which have many layers, it is very important that when copying a section from one file to another (new) file, the structure of the layers and sub-layers is retained. Enclosed are 4 screenshots showing what happens to the upper layers when only individual objects are copied from them. Otherwise the new file becomes extremely confusing. Also, symbols will be copied into the new file as symbols, but not into the symbol palette of the new file, why not? How can I realize this? Is this planned for the future? Thanks, Claudia
