There will still be plenty of "purists" who think one software or way of doing things is the be-all, end-all. There is a price for that attitude in all things business-related. It is not necessarily economical to become so dependent on a certain way of doing things, not just Adobe. Some businesses can still afford that way of doing things and it is well worth the price for them to continue to do. Some may need to think about cutting costs where they can in the near future. Affinity is only in first version still, therefore is in early stages, so there is some room for improvement and could use more input from people who made the switch. I don't know that COVID is forcing people to switch (is there some indicator of this?), as I think the seed was already planted since Adobe went subscription-only and that is more the reason to "be different". Probably some people are starting to think about it given the uncertainty of future economic situations if it really made sense to continue a subscription service, much less to allow it and other expensive options to become so deeply embedded with their business. For me, Adobe (particularly Illustrator) just became a stale product that was increasingly annoying to use. I can't very well review a product or be helpful if I don't use it as my primary, so I quit using Adobe and it is now uninstalled from all my machines. I am glad to see you have made the switch yourself and have found it to be essential for you, but don't let that preclude you from also pointing out where it can be improved. The way I see it, we are helping each other as we need to make changes. There will certainly be more serious changes as this situation goes forward (COVID-related). Stressful as it is, change is a part of life.

Affinity 01: Original Brush set (Sample sheet removed)
    Affinity 02
Affinity 02: Updated version 2 set with adjustment to dynamics to include Distance and Interpolate (Sample sheet as below). Replaced Linear Paint 01 with better nozzles!

These Brushes are a bit different from my usual offering.
    1. They are small
    2. Rely largely on setting the blend mode to Average (something I learnt from Sketchbook Pro!)
    3. Resize as you wish
    4. Updated to consider Affinity 02 Brush Dynamics
    5. Included samples of Base Textures

    1. These are essentially the same as the Pencil Brushes but with adjustments to the brush dynamics and less texture..There are 2 other sets that supplement these in the InkPainter Project set (Ink & Linear)
    2. Similar to brushes produced by Jake Parker for initial Inktober Project 2016

Updated the brush set to version 2 Should work much better now!
    Changes/improvements as below
    Version 2.0
    1. Removed old versions redundant now..
    2. Made significant changes to the brush dynamics and nozzles. All nozzles are now vector based replacing previous raster versions (as much as possible)
    3. There is a significant number of new nozzles for the brushes Which means they are not like original sets..
    4. Made use of the 1.7/1.8.2 brush engine in AD/AP using subBrushes.
    5. The old brush set was appearing darker and less intense with 1.7/1.8 update...I have fixed that with this version!
    6. Updated the Sample sheets to newer (latest) layout..Sub brushes are displayed in red.
    7. Introduced a lot of new base textures
    8. Organics Set 01 replaces the original Project Brush 08 set. There are 3 x 30 in the full project

    Hello everbody,
I had the same problem as Mrty76. i found a solution for me that may could help you too. I disabled the Windows Ink Box under Preferences -> Tools in Affinity Photo and left the box in the Wacom Pen Settings, Enable Windows Ink, checked. That solved the problem for me. I have pen pressure and can zoom in and out, change brush size with alt ect.
I m running the latest affinity photo version and i m using a wacom intous pro m
    Maybe that helps

These days, Pixeluvo is my go to image editor on Linux plus I've used PencilSheep (sadly no longer being updated). Also, someone's done an unofficial electron app for the online Photopea image editor but I've not had the chance to try it out yet.
As for Gimp, the 2.10.18 version is the best yet and the developers do try and listen to what users want. Again, what would help is if people gave more support in various ways and that includes donations, for example.

    I beg to respectfully differ.
In Krita,  Alt for color picking is slow when configured in the Wacom pen's side button compared to Photoshop. If you paint with realistic style, strongly based on fast canvas color picking, this becomes an issue quite fast. Photoshop when configured well for GPU usage with a good card has an amazing painting performance (most complaining about PS painting performance are often students on a laptop with integrated card, poor CPU and not much RAM) , and the blending of basic brush (meaning, the main brush system)  is IMO better than in Krita.  Indeed, when well configured Photoshop CC 2018, 19 and 20 gets you a lot more performance in very large canvases when doing a painting for a client who requires exactly that, a large painting 2 meters wide at 300 dpi. Actually, it does this better than most apps (tested it all carefully). Also, IMO the flow/opacity control in Photoshop is superior. Corel Painter has been there for ages. And that one is pretty good for painting, too. Maybe the other advantages (many due to being a versatile image editor) are not so minimal when despite Painter's existence for decades (and years of Art Rage, Sketchbook Pro and etc), Photoshop has continued to be the choice for so, so many amazing digital painters. Even more, the main tool for concept artists at almost every game studio. To the point that for most of them you cannot be even a candidate (easy to check in a job interview) if PS would not be your tool for painting. And I'm leaving out the studios which mainly want a photo basher.
Indeed, I'm pretty sure PS is used by way more digital painters, matte painters and concept artists than Krita.
That said, I believe Krita has a very bright future. But I see big issues that I don't see in Clip Studio Paint, for example. Indeed, I'd choose Corel Painter over Krita (if weren't that darn expensive in its non subscription option, and its subs based one... well, I'm against subscriptions in software) , but not over CSP. And it is exciting to have the option of purchasing things like the Atelier addon, which does a very good job on mimicking well oil paints and water colors. But until it gets really integrated in Krita (and so, ensured it will be there to stay, as the Atelier is done and maintained by a guy not inside the Krita team), and the alt + wacom button issue improved, blending using the basic brush, and some performance matters... Till then I think it will keep being nice, but nothing ground breaking. Specially not with the options available, at least on Windows and Mac OS.
BTW, the incoming Gimp update is impressive. And they really are finally going for a full CMYK mode (not in the next update).

SrPx reacted to JET_Affinity in AutoTrace (convert raster image to vector)
That is an absolutely false analogy. Is using Illustrator analogous to 'using a car without a reverse' because you have to (egads!) switch to Photoshop in order to edit a raster image?
Auto-tracing is a standalone operation. You do it, and then dink around with the vector results after the fact. You don't auto-trace a raster image, go back and edit the raster image, auto-trace the image again, use other tools to edit the result, rasterize the result, auto-trace it again, ad nauseum. In other words, you don't edit the raster image or the auto-traced results while in the process of running the auto-trace.
There is nothing onerous about switching to a separate utility to run an auto-trace on a raster image, if you must. It's just like using a raster program to create a raster image to your liking, then importing that image into a 3D modeling program to map it to a 3D surface. The 3D modeling program isn't a 'car with no reverse' just because doesn't have its own self-contained raster image editing program.
By your analogy logic, I would have to say that my KTM motorcycle is useless junk because it doesn't have its own built-in pressure washer.

I use Inkscape also for many other functions...  (configurable spirals, gradient mesh, warp deform, distributing across path, a brilliant super featured inking tool with extremely good response to pressure... ) ... I mean, as much as I agree with many of you on the interface side of it (and not having real CMYK support in a design app!), and as much as Designer is my go-to for everything vectors... I wouldn't see any advantage on uninstalling Inkscape. The export/import among the two as SVG, kind of works. But finally (while I still don't understand people)... you have my vote for autotrace, too. But for a different reason : While I don't have a need for that, and while I love the potrace embedded and improved  thing on Inkscape for that feature, it seems a ton of people here don't, or dislike Inkscape. So, is one of those cost-effective features to add (ie, adding it makes a ton of people happy, hehe). Like when TGA support was improved.
