After Develop when most is set:
Crop and rotate doesn’t cut off as it should, and it always as default choose ”unconstrained”, how to get original ratio by default?

Wonder if the developers ever used AP and edited like 200 RAWs and want to save them as full size PSD in one map and smaller sized JPG in another map, don’t think so…?

    Tedious to death…
    1. Export…
    2. Choose PDF
    3. Press Export
    4. Choose Map
    5. Press save
    6. Choose Document from meny
    7. Choose Rezise in submenu
    8. Enter i.e. hight (2500)

Well, I want the canvas not to move when I'm not zoomed in, that is at fit view, else I prefer to move the canvas freely... as, again, in Photoshop.

I am liking Affinity more and more. I want to break away from Photoshop and this IS the product that will allow me to do that. I HATE the idea of monthly fees to use a product. Thank you for developing Affinity Photo!

The original post referred to expanding from the center.  That is still not available in RC2.  (Or if it is, I haven't discovered how to do it.)  And it is still greatly desired.  I don't know why such a basic option has been ignored for so long.

    Hi Affinity Team,
It would be great to have a context menue by clicking the right mouse button, which has different, customizable functions, depending on the actual tool used.

CekariYH reacted to Asha in Focus Stack Feedback
I finally had a chance to put the Affinity focus stacking tool to work today with RC1. I did a fairly modest 16-layer stack, and processed both from RAW files and from 16-bit TIFF files. Below are the results of this test, compared with output from an "other" dedicated focus stacking software.

For the most part, I find the processing time slightly faster for Affinity than the "other" software. In both softwares, processing from RAW was slower than from 16-bit TIFF, even though the TIFF files are several orders of magnitude larger than the RAW. Final resolution and quality of detail was roughly the same on both, however, Affinity had more artifacts. This is balanced by the fact that Affinity has high ease of editing from any one of the source images.

What I missed most in the Affinity tool is the capability to customize the stacking process. In the "other" software, I can select one of three algorithms, whereas Affinity has only one default algorithm. For this test, I chose depth map in the "other" software, because I think that is what Affinity is using, and I wanted a consistent comparison. In the "other" software, I can also adjust the algorithm parameters, which sometimes helps the artifacting--Affinity does not have this feature. I also did not see a way to select the RAW engine for focus stacking in Affinity, but that is something I would like to have since the different RAW engines may produce more pleasing results. Generally, the RAW processing seemed more streamlined in Affinity. The "other" software opened Adobe DNG converter for every single slice of my stack, which is somewhat laughable, however, the unretouched result was the best from RAW processing through the "other" software. One more thing that I have seen in dedicated software is the ability to process from top-down or bottom-up of the stack. This is a very helpful option since (again) it can reduce artifacting. This would be a nice improvement to the Affinity tool.

While my stack was rather benign, I've seen some crazy high-magnification macro stacks with several times the number of files I used. Those might not do as well with Affinity, due to the lack of adjustability. Having said that, Affinity is the most accessible and affordable software I've seen with this advanced capability, and I have nothing but the highest praise for the Serif team.

To summarize, here is my wish list for Affinity's new focus stacking capability based on this test:
--Ability to choose from different algorithms
    --Ability to choose algorithm parameters
--Ability to choose the RAW engine that is invoked when using RAW source files
--Ability to choose the order of stack processing (top-bottom, bottom-top)

I think it would better for the workflow to have the context toolbar as dialog boxes with the specific tool options for each tool on right mouse click, like in photoshop. Maybe also a keyboard shortcut to resize brushes, pencil etc with mousewheel :)

In photoshop or even text applications like Word you can select a font by typing its name in the font search field. For example I want the font Myriad Pro .. I type "M" and the fonts if the initial M appears . In Affinity Photo/designer you have to go looking for the font, if you have many is a boring job. CorelDraw have really good font manager too...

Could be just like him. Or be able to select different ways to find fonts. I for example use only some fonts, so a font manager like photoshop is good for me. On the other hand, for my wife the ideial would be an equal to the coreldraw she is a freelancer designer and works with several fonts types.

CorelDraw font finder has preview of the fonts, which is great when working on several projects. I think it would be perfect for the Affinity Designer.

    Hi m-b,
Affinity native file format(s) are compatible between all Affinity apps.
There's no need to create a document in Designer and open it in Photo. You can simply work in Designer as usual and if you need to move everything to Photo (History included) go to menu File ▸ Edit in Photo... The inverse is also true.

Simply great an empty Artboard in AD and open it in AP. It fully works. You can now drag elements outside the document as in AD, this is great for composing something or make more pages side by side. You can even copy the artboards oder change the size. I didn't know about this feature and thought it's only for AD. Maybe it helps some of you. I like to work with this!

For all who don't have AD, here's an empty Artboard document: ArtBoard.afphoto

In illustrator, you can copy an object from one artboard and paste it into another artboard in the same place as the original artboard. Can we have that feature be implemented soon? That is a huge time saver and I'm sad that you can not do that in affinity.
