We are pleased to announce that Affinity Publisher build 249 is now available as a manual download from the link above and via auto-update.
As this is a beta it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity where you may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents. 
We hope you enjoy the product, and as always, if you've got any problems installing or running up, please don't hesitate to post in this thread.

- We have added the facility to Find and Replace using perl type (or ‘ECMAScript with perl extensions’) regular expressions

Until Affinity Publisher supports anchored / attached objects in flowing documents docx import is not going to be satisfactory to anyone with more than text in their files. There's an orderly way to develop Affinity Publisher and we are building from the ground up. All in good time.

Fix sorted now  in 238  

Earlier this evening I created a recipe document with 1.7.0.227 and noticed strange auto-capitalization happening.  I checked the forum... it's a known issue.  I also noticed there is a new beta (1.7.0.238); I installed it and recreated the document from scratch.  The strange auto-capitalization problem seems to be fixed.  Thanks!  Yay!

We have a fix pending so that the 'View > Studio > Hyperlinks' type of problem doesn't happen again.
I the meantime, please hold <Ctrl> while launching the app to see the "Reset Studio".

Multi-language UI
We now have localised text for all of the languages we intend to support at release, and the Preferences UI to switch language has been enabled.
However, we are aware of quite a large number of issues currently with UI layout and missing translation text. If you wish to log an issue on the forum that you think is purely a translation issue (i.e. UI layout, text truncation, missing translation, incorrect translation) we would be grateful if you could make a post in this specific thread.

Hyperlinks
We have our first pass at support for Hyperlinks. You can place Hyperlinks on text or other items in your document and create anchors for them to target. You can also create hyperlinks to document pages or internet URLs etc. These hyperlinks will export to PDF, though be aware not all varieties of PDF support interactive features. This feature is mainly driven via the Menu, Text > Interactive and the Hyperlinks Panel, View > Studio > Hyperlinks.
Additionally if you create a TOC or Index and request hyperlinks on export the TOC or Index will be furnished with hyperlinks as appropriate.

We are pleased to announce that Affinity Publisher build 238 is now available as a manual download from the link above and on auto-update.
As this is a beta it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity where you may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents.

Multi-language UI
We now have localised text for all of the languages we intend to support at release, and the Preferences UI to switch language has been enabled.
However, we are aware of quite a large number of issues currently with UI layout and missing translation text. If you wish to log an issue on the forum that you think is purely a translation issue (i.e. UI layout, text truncation, missing translation, incorrect translation) we would be grateful if you could make a post in this specific thread.

Hyperlinks
We have our first pass at support for Hyperlinks. You can place Hyperlinks on text or other items in your document and create anchors for them to target. You can also create hyperlinks to document pages or internet URLs etc. These hyperlinks will export to PDF, though be aware not all varieties of PDF support interactive features. This feature is mainly driven via the Menu, Text > Interactive and the Hyperlinks Panel, View > Studio > Hyperlinks.
Additionally if you create a TOC or Index and request hyperlinks on export the TOC or Index will be furnished with hyperlinks as appropriate.

Earlier Release Notes Beta 227

Well.... oh no that would be a spoiler. There are some important ones still to come some soon. They will need to pass internal testing. Whether they make it into the release of  Affinity Publisher 1.7, I expect they will be in the release before too long.
You know that those who have not followed this beta process (the majority of the world) will look at the 1.7.0 release and pick on one 'missing' feature they are used to in a 20+ year old product and dismiss the whole program without an understanding of where we are going with this suite, or that 1.x free updates can include new features as well as fixes. We may depend upon social media followers and forum regulars who undestand how far we have come, how quickly and our ambitions, to suggest to doubters that a little patience will be rewarding.

Apologies for not getting back sooner. Thanks for reporting the Hyperlinks on Master Page text Frame issue. We have a fix for this and it will be in the next update.
 
 

The K only box is related to images only, essentially allowing you to output them to 1 channel. The issue you're encountering Gordo (at least I think it is) is that your Outer Shadow colour has not been saved as K only - the file attached in the first post is Rich Black.

Now I will say there is a known issue that the colour model drop down in the Filter Effects dialog doesn't show the selected colour model - this is a known issue that is with development. I wonder if this has lead to some confusion and has incorrectly changed the colour along the way.

See my attached video - I've opened your file, and the Filter Effects colour swatch (not the values) definitely shows a Rich Black. If I then switch this to CMYK and change to K only, outputting to PDF is definitely going out as K only.

Could you attach a video showing your export process please, as you've said earlier on in the thread doing that doesn't work for you.

It's only a problem if you wanted to revert to the previous beta for some reason, which of course we hope you don't (or in Uncle Mez's case, want to share a document with someone who hasn't yet updated). In general we don't guarantee loading in old versions anyway, it's just that with most of the recent incremental updates it has tended to be OK.
Taking a backup before working with a new beta update can never be bad advice.

Isn't this a result of the default behaviour of 'sticky' styles? If you apply styles to text and then draw a new text box, the style remains selected.
I can see some situations where sticky styles would be a convenient time saver, but I find it more of a hindrance than a help as I need to manually check that no unwanted styles are selected when making new text frames. This is especially inconvenient when the document has many styles, as you have to scroll down to the bottom of the list to check that no unwanted character styles are being applied.
Perhaps a preference option for 'New text frames have default styling' would solve this.

This feature is mainly driven via the Menu, Text > Interactive and the Hyperlinks Panel, View > Studio > Hyperlinks.
Additionally if you create a TOC or Index and request hyperlinks on export the TOC or Index will be furnished with hyperlinks as appropriate.

We are pleased to announce that Affinity Publisher build 238 is now available as a manual download from the link above and on auto-update.
As this is a beta it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity where you may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents. 
We hope you enjoy the product, and as always, if you've got any problems installing or running up, please don't hesitate to post in this thread.
Any problems actually using this version please make a new topic in this forum and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. Please feel free to leave general suggestions and comments in the Discussion Forum.

Multi-language UI
We now have localised text for all of the languages we intend to support at release, and the Preferences UI to switch language has been enabled.
However, we are aware of quite a large number of issues currently with UI layout and missing translation text. If you wish to log an issue on the forum that you think is purely a translation issue (i.e. UI layout, text truncation, missing translation, incorrect translation) we would be grateful if you could make a post in this specific thread.

Hyperlinks
We have our first pass at support for Hyperlinks. You can place Hyperlinks on text or other items in your document and create anchors for them to target. You can also create hyperlinks to document pages or internet URLs etc. These hyperlinks will export to PDF, though be aware not all varieties of PDF support interactive features.
